Boooorreeddd... Iola thought to herself as she treked onward, with no destination. The word kept playing over and over again in her head like a broken record. The only thing that was willing her forward was the curiosity as to 'what was just over that bush'. She kept silently hoping the next clump of grass held some sort of surprise...someone for her to meet. "Just this next corner and I'll stop to rest..." Mumbled, fumbling forward looking around the side of the bush to see if there was anything worth interest. Nothing. As usual. Iola prepared to settle herself down on the pasty soil underneath the plant. But she couldn't help herself. Just one more. She thought, side stepping and peering over the corner.

He had wandered a short way away from his traveling partner. The early morning rays were already warming his jet black pelt and he needed a dip. A small watering hole opened up before him and without a moments hesitation he went bolting in. After all, you couldn't be a pirate if you couldn't swim, and of course, cause a big mess when you cannon balled in to the watering hole.
'Kota had finally grown in to that big dark mane, his coal black eyes full of happiness, friendliness, and all out cheerfulness really, a rougish grin constantly on his maw. His travels had worn away alot of the puppy fat which he had carried from the pridelands making him not lean, simply mucely and with the size of him he looked quite a formiddable beast, even if he was soaked to the bone.
Slipping out of the watering hole he shook his whole body, his mane poofing out for a moment making him look more than comical as he sat and cleaned his toes. He lifted his head though and raised a brow, his nose twitching "Be thar a lil sailor afoot 'roun' ere or be me nose decivin' me?" He called his voice a very broad, pirateish accent. "Ye be showin' ye sen na, I don't be a likin' ta be sneaked up on yanno?" He chuckled lightly twitching his ears forwards. "Don' be worryin' none, the Captain ain't never 'armed a soul, unless ye count the meat fer me belly."

Iola felt her heart skip a beat after the sudden crashing sound. "Where did that come from!?" She asked in a panicky tone of voice, turning her head side to side looking for the source of the noise. Then just moments after the crash a spray of water fall from the sky onto the cub. A droplet landed of her nose causing the cub go into a fit of sneezes. "Ahhhh-cho, ahhhh-cooo, ahhhh-chooooo!" Iola growled wiping the few drops of water from her head. And shook herself of the little water that manged to cling to her fur. Iola's ears perked, a spurlge of voice thundered just afew yards away. Her eyes widened and she lowered herself to the ground. The noise, was very different...rough. And the male's accent was so deep. She thought it to be a different language, or a different species. Was there something near by she didnt want to meet? Iola wanted to slink away unnoticed, the voice was commanding as if something were trying to scare her away. And she sure didnt want to even up like the shredded corpses she normally ate for breakfast. But it'd been so long since she last met anything. She thought she'd might aswell take a chance. Iola kept quite, and tried to sneak forward to find the 'creature'. But even with her best attempt she still hadn't manged to grasp the concept of stealth. The grass she padded threw swayed slightly as she inched threw it. The thing that must have really given off her presents was her tail waving over the sea of grass surrounding her. Tail always held high, even when she was 'stalking' something she always had that thing perked upwards. Her tail turned side to side, as if she were looking threw it to see her surroundings.

The large dark head tilted curiously at the tail which flagged up out of the grass and he couldn't help but chuckle when she gave a loud, though childish sneeze. "Ah be sorry Lassy I wasn't meanin' ta give ye a chill none, commere and lemmie look atcha." The huge jet black male lay down then hos gigantic black paws curved upwards before himself. The large white streak which ran up his face wrinkled happily as he waited for the youngster to come to him, a charming, rougish smile spereading accross his maw.
"Watcha be doin' out 'ere all alone? ye know thars scary thin's out ere, not incluedin' me 'o' course" he grinned then, he knew he had grown in to his black fur to become what could be easily perceived as a scary looking lio, though he was far from it, he was sweet natured, having been broaght up int he pridelands he beleived whole heartedly in all the good things in the world, though he of course, knew of the bad. He couldn't help but wonder what a young female was doing out all on her own in the rogue lands, but he supposed he should meet and greet first.
When eventually her nose came out of the grass he bobbed his head. "Nahodha'Kota atcha service miss, tho most folks think me names far ta much 'o' a mouthful and jus' call me 'Kota fer short or capn' which ever floats ye boat s'foine by me lassy, now, bout be tellin' me what ye want me ta hail ye by, unless ye wanna be called lassy fer'ver."

The noise didnt seem to stop. Iola was sure in the jumble of words she colud make some out. She strained her ears hearing 'commere'. "Commere? Cooommmeeeerrreee...come-ear....come....hear? Come hear?" Was that what, what-ever-it-was, was saying? Come hear? She thought to herself. She didnt bother trying to decipher the next sentence, her curiosity now growing. Reluctantly she poked her nose out from the underbrush and then the rest of her head. The next few words she could make out. He was introducing himself she guessed. She grinned wide, much like the Cheshire Cat. "Hallooo!!!" she cooed, stepping towards to the lion curiously. Once she takes a couple steps, she realizes that shes in the presents of lioness. Iola had never before seen an adult lion before in her few months of wandering, she she of course didnt think much of the gender of the one before her....she could only assume. "Such a pretty lady you are....And such pretty fur!" Iola stared memorized at the long flowing mane that circled the head of the male. She shook her head and and than rose her head somewhat. "I'm Iola! I'm four months old!" She announced triumphantly.

With a loud laugh the big rough looking male grinned at the little femme toothily. "I ain't a girl lassy, I'ma lad I am thru an' thru" He grinned. "four months ya say? well, aint ye a big gurl hmm? Where be ye mam an' pap hmm?" He raised a brow his jet black mane falling over his paws as he watched the little dainty female sit at his feet.
"Ah be glad you be likein' me fur tho, tis called a mane, all bois ave um, if ye a lion tha is. Tho bein' little as ye is mebe you ain't never be seein' a male afore. do ye be livin' roun' ere with ye mammy then lass? " The questions rolled off of his tongue easily enough, he had grown in the pridelands after all, he had grown up strong and healthy with a mother and father looking after him all the way, though he had always been the odd one out. He still expected the outside world to be the same. He expected the little femme to have a family around here some where. Four months old, twas no time to be out on your own.

"You ain't a lass?" He kept referring her to one so Iola guess it meant 'girl'. "So your a....a...boy?" The stress on 'boy' provided the thought that she looked upon him as an amazing new invention. In fact, there was curious twinkle light in her eyes. Iola sat and stared with a slight sense of surprise and awe for a moment. She shook out of her gonking after he began talking again. She nodded firmly in response to his question. And grinned slightly to the complement he gave her for being a BIG GIRL. Iola, stared at him questioningly after asking about her parents. "Weeeeelllll....you said your not a girl. So you can't be a mommy...." Iola rose a paw to her mouth deep in thought. "So your a daddy...?" She asked aloud, even though it was meant to be asked more to herself. "Yeah. Your a daddy!" She said looking upon him with a new light in her eyes, "Daddy!" She sprung forward groping at the older male's front leg. "Daddy...wheres mommy? Where did you both go? Do I have brothers and sista's? Do they look like you? Do I look like mom? Oh, Oh, Oh! I can't wait to tell you all the stuff I've done! Cubs...like me that I've met!" Tears stared to form on the rim of her eyes. "Daddy...I was so scared I would never see you....But I found you! And we can be together, and mommy and brothers...and sisterssss....and we'll all be happy...." Iola began to gasp between words, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Daddy..." She buried her face into his fur, drenching it with her tears. It was uncertain of whether or not she truly believed the male to be her father, or was just finally breaking down after months...weeks...days, of lying to herself telling herself she wouldn't need mommy and daddy. Telling herself they loved her, and it was normal for cubs to grow up alone. Even though after meeting cubs her own age she could see them living happily with their parents. And secretly envied them. Hated them even, for having parents to love them while she was all alone at the end of the day.

The large male was pretty hard to shock, infact, it was nay impossible to put in to a state of wordless stupor, but when the cub glomped his paw his jaw dropped and his mouth hung open for a moment in a stunned silence. "Whu?" the only word he could manage to utter as she started to ramble, her words falling on those large, dark ears hidden beneath his long hairy mane.
Clearing his throat, he let a quick smile cross his lips and his other paw lifted to wipe the tears from her eyes. "Nay lassy, ye mammy ain't here but I'll bout take care 'o' ya I will." He smiled lightly tugging the little lilac cub to his body. He was a soft touch, that was for sure, but he wasn't about to let something call him daddy, and give him big doleful eyes without himdoing something about it. A Pirate and a rogue he may be, but he was far from a heartless scallywag.
"Nay doubt wit how pretty ye are, ye look like ye mammy, na stop ye teary eyein' cause ye ave to be a strong lil lassy alright?" He smiled that rogueish grin again tilting her head up with his huge dark paw. His dark paws curled tightly around the little femme as he watched her, his coal black eyes smiling, and he silently promised that she would never be alone again, that he would protect her, just as if she were his daughter.

Iola, sniffled, as he began to wipe her face. Her lower lip still quivering, her tears long since ran out and her sides still heaving. "O-Okay daddy..." She said, dryly, wiping her face with the back of her arm. A faintest of a smile formed on Iola's lips as the lion tenderly wrapped his arm around her bringing her in to a hug. She felt a comfort from the small gesture. She felt protection; a warmth. She was sure his voice was coming softer now, though it could have been in her mind, but she could now understand him slightly better since the rumbled to his voice seemed to have faded away. "No...." She argued sheepishly, "Mama is pretty...I know she is." She muttered quietly, and could have easily been unheard. Iola nodded, going to look away, but to her surprise Iola could feel one of his paws raise her chin so as to meet his gaze. Iola's eyes widened though as she was met by an unearthly guardian. "I'll be strong..." She gasped, staring back at him into his dark eyes. There was a strange sense of security in them. Iola shook loose from the elder lion's grip on her jaw and pushed forward, rubbing up against his front leg purring much like a house cat. Her tail wrapping around his leg. "So...I do have brothers? Sisters?" She asked staring up briefly at him before going on to his left front paw and lovin' up on it too.

'Kota shook his head softly as he watched the cub, had he just adopted a daughter? The thought baffled him slightly but he let the idea roll over his head any way. It didn't matter one way or another he wouldn't let harm befall the little lilac female even if she wasn't of his blood.
"Nay lass ye don't have nay sister's ner brothers ye do ha' an aunty though an' she'll bout be a wonnerin whar we are so pick up ye feet and we'll ge' back to 'er okay?" He smiled a little sheepishly wonderign what khepri would think of this new companion. "We be headin' ta the sea lass tis mah dream ta see the waves." He smiled half heartedly, the sea was still a fair distance away and he knew his paws would get him there eventually, hopefully the little femme would be able to get there too, she seemed sturdy any way and if worst came to worse, he could carry her, hell he could probably carry any lion, there was really only Khepri that was a similar size to himself, of the lions he had met any way.

Iola stared at him frowning. She opened her mouth as if to protest but nothing came out. "I can't go...." She pawed at the dirt thoughtfully. "I...I dont know why but I feel like I need to stay here awhile. It feels like I'll miss something if I leave...like I'll miss something important." Iola lowered her eyes. "Mommy is still here. And when I find her, she'll take me to you." She smiled heartily at the idea. "Just show me. Where would I have to walk to get to...the sea?" She looked perplexed, she'd never heard of such a thing before. "What is a sea...?"

'Kota grinned at the soft lilac femme. "Tha sea lass? Tis a place 'o en'less water." He grinned. He had never acctually seen the sea, but in his minds eye he could taste the salt and feel the waves against his paws.
'Kotas brow furrowed slightly. He was hoping that the little femmes mother was indeed aorund some where. he hgave her a gentle nod. 2Alright lass, ye jus' head on in ta the sunset an you'll fin' me alright?" He gave a groguish grin and got to his dark foot paws knowing full well that khepri would be wondering where the heck he was. "Tak' care o ya sel' lassy." A slight crease rustled his brow afraid he wasn't doing the right thing letting her stay here alone. He never quite understood cubs though, being a big one himself, he knew the lust for adventure alone. He simply hoped she would find her way to him, when she needed him.

The cub imagine a vast...lake. "Soundssss s'ooool." She said trying to talk in the same accent as the older male. Her voice came out alittle rough and she squeezed shut an eye. Not as if the mock him, it just came naturally as she spoke.
Iola grinned meekly, as if to will him into believing she was going to be OK. "Sunset?" In a reflex she turned in the derection where the sun was to sit later in the day. Iola stared longingly at the rising hills in the distance. "You'll be there waiting....right?" She turned back looking over her shoulder. "You wont forget?" Iola swung around and pushed her head aginst the front arm of the pirate, nudging him lightly, playfully. "You leaving soon?"

'Kota gave one of those very piratish gerins then and ruffled the cubs flock of fur that perched upon ehr forehead. "I'll no ferget ye lassy, jus' ye foller ye feet, twars' the sunset an dahn tha river an' ye will come ta tha sea. Ah'll bout be a waitin' fer ye ta come alrgh?" He smiled and groomed ehr forehead swiftly, he was worried now, would she be alright? The question pulled at his heart strings.
"Jus' you com' n fin' me if ye nee' me lass, I'll be thar for ye." He stood then, looking back towards the way he had come, the dark red lioness would be wondering where hehad gone to that was for sure, he'd only gone for a quick dip. "Tell ye mammy ta fetch ye on dahn ta the sea lass, I promise I'll be there." His brow creased one more time as he turned to leave, half hopign she would change her mind and come, or perhaps that her mother would appear vbefore he left to continue his journey to the sea.

Iola nodded her head firmly, "The sunset...." She repeated to herself. The cub was reluctant to let him leave but she had no choice. Mother was somewhere, and she had to go find her first. Iola watched him turn to leave and she opened to her mouth to say something but bite it back. She decided to say something else. "O-Okay! I'll see you at the sea! Don’t forget me, k!?" She called back towards him. She sat in her spot as she watched him saunter away, she feared if she got up, she'd end up fallowing him. And she wasn’t just about to turn and walk away from him. Even if they just met, Iola held the male with high regard, one of the most important things on her to-do list...'go to tha sea, for papa...' She watch as the distance between them continually became further, until she had to squint her eyes in his direction to see. But surely and slowly he disappeared on the horizon line and the cub was left alone.....nothing out of the ordinary for her.
