So, have you ever reall looked into all the work it takes to make band camp a success?

Does your council make sure to include tons of games?

What do you guys do?

Ours only lasts 4 days, and it's about 5 hours a day. TONS of games go into it, like the knot game, the magic shoes and lava game, psychiatrist, etc.

Really? You play twister? xDD

We played that at our lock-in, but it was difficult because we had so many people..

Our band likes to play red rover each year at band camp. We form two giant lines and it usually takes about 30 minutes for people to pick teams. It's always fun cause someone always gets their brains knocked out.

We never play games at band camp (it's technically not a camp, just six hours of practice each day for two weeks), but I've always wanted to make a sport called band ball. There'd be a large ball (about the size of one of those balance balls or whatever they're called), and you'd whack it around with your instrument, unless it's small or awkward to handle, in which case you'd push it. The rules are similar to ice hockey, meaning you can knock people out of the way.

We don't play games...
There's an arcade, indoor pool, hot tub, raquetball, lake with slides and stuff, and our air conditioned rooms for us to sleep in. We don't need games, though we play ultimate frisbee on the field every now and then. But with about 200 people, there's almost too many. We're going to St. Louis during band camp for a dinner theatre, though. We have a talent show, too. So, it's entertaining.

umm...I want to do more games.
The ones we do are:
Pick a partner and tell about them, they tell about you
The one were you try to get out of knots without letting the other peoples hands go
spell knights on the field as fast as you can

our band camp lasts one week and we rehearse about 13 hours from monday through thursday. on friday, we rehearse for about 7-8 hours. the reson we reherse so little on friday, is because my director laets us go home and shower, get stuff, all that . we have a lock-in at our school on the friday. during that, we have a talent show, ping-pong, basketball, volleyball. kareoke, video games, movies, and various others (if you brought them). one one of the days of the week(usually on wednesday) we have a dunk tank and dunk the staff, plus drum majors. awards are given each day for varios things, including best section, best marcher, best dresser(there is a theme each day).

back when we went away for band camp, we had games that you werent allowed to do on school grounds. shaving creme fights and things like that. back then, initiation for freshman was horrible. the seniors all had there own freshman, and would dress them how they wanted, and the freshman would have to do what they say. and the shaving creme fights i mentioned? that was for freshman and seniors. poor freshman, we would tell them to go to a certain spot in the woods for some reason and then the seniors would jump out of the trees and attack the freshman with shaving creme. but that was back when we had money to go places...

We play games at the lock-in after the two week band camp. Sometimes we were rewarded with water balloons (that the drum major told us were popsicles so as to not get us too excited) to throw at each other. Also, we do this little thing called the funky chicken...I don't know if it would count as a game or not, it may be more of a tradition...

And, our director is constantly quoting movies and rewarding 'virtual candy' to whoever can tell him what movie it's from.

Go to the Second Floor of the Building and Throw money (coins) at people while you watch them fight over nickels and pennies..it's quite amusing...

Lots of games.
At band camp, between the afternoon break and afternoon practice, there's a section for Bonding Time. It usually consists of something wet, because it gets pretty damn hot out there.

Also, there's lots of unofficial "bonding" between evening practice and Lights Out. Usually involving freshman hazing, with the freshies giving tips on how to haze them PROPERLY.

Our band never gets to play games at band camp. Our band camp is at our school, though, and our BDs take it very seriously. All we do for those two weeks is practice nine hours every day.

Our Band Camp is from 9-5 for a week. We play one game a day after lunch. Let me think.....Train wreck, Circle of Trust, Animal Cracker, I love you, the lap game...there's more I just can't think of them.
