Name: Astalder
Stage: Adult
Gender: Male
Familiar:Rikyu the Wyvern
Abilities: To move around unnoticed (stealth).
Personality: So far, as it seems, Astalder has a bit of a mischievous streak within him. He likes to move about and sneak up on people from behind. Astalder is fairly silent, and seems to be a little naive in a way. Another thing to note is that he will be willing to do many things if it will help his friends. There is a bit of a limit to what he will do, but there aren't a lot of things he wouldn't oblige to.
Speech color: Black and bold

Name: Blade
Age: 20 (time of bond)
Gender: Male
Appearance:Click, click, Weapon reference

Personality: For the most part, Blade is fairly laid back and easygoing. Around a group of strangers, he isn't too likely to speak up much since he is a bit of a loner to some extent. It's not that he doesn't enjoy company, but more so that he sometimes prefer to be more on his own. There's a few things that can really set him off, or make him really stress him greatly. These things vary from having someone he really cares about in some sort of danger, to just being pestered about something for a prolonged amount of time. The latter, of course takes a lot more to really annoy him. One of the things he likes to do, which may or may not seem odd to many, is to steal. Not only does he sometimes "need" to do such a thing, but he gets a certain thrill out of it that he just enjoys.

History: Growing up with a thieving father, Blade had picked up a thing or two about working around the law. And being in a family that wasn't quite so fortunate with wealth, this type of thing came in handy when it came to surviving. Not that they were in desperate need of money, but it still helped out considerably.
Most likely, one of the key moments early on was a certain object his father had brought home one day. Some time before, the man had taken a dare to snatch an egg from a sleeping dragon to prove some of his skills. He didn't exactly make away with it unscathed, as he had several nasty burns as a result of that. Still, he managed to get away with it. The ones who had given him the dare, didn't really expect him to come back alive. Not really wanting anything to do with the dragon egg, they let him keep it while reluctantly giving the reward for the dare.
Being as young as he was at the time, Blade was ecstatic about it. Despite the stories he had heard about dragons swooping down and stealing humans to be their slaves, he was fairly intrigued by them. This, by no means, meant that he wanted to become one of these "slaves" himself, but he still found the dragons rather interesting.
As he grew older, his father was eventually imprisoned after being caught. And he was left to take care of the young dragon with his mother.

Other information: Aside from things involved with thievery, he is fairly skilled with wielding a short sword.
Speech color: Default font color.

Astalder's friends and foes

Tarketh: He's the first of my kind that I've seen... but he's kinda... scary. His Dragon-Bound sure didn't look like he was having a very good time with him, that's for sure... He's definitely not someone I'd want to hang around a lot.

Vastina: I can't really say much about her, but she seems pretty nice. She's also an Ascended, which is pretty cool I think. A young boy sticks around with her, kinda like how Blade and I stick together.

----------------
Blade's friends and foes

Tarketh: He seems really diabolical. Not to mention menacing... I mean, he threatened to kill me in a real horrible way for crying out loud... I don't like him.

[[Blade: Age 6 and a half
Astalder: Hatchling
Journal entry]]

It's been almost 2 years since that egg Dad came home with hached. And wow! This little dragon has a lot of energy! I named him Astalder, which I think means 'littel black one' in some langwage I can't remember. Dad says I can't let anyone know about him or Astalder can't stay with us anymore. Its becuase he says that a lotta people don't like dragons.

I dont see why. Astalder kinda brakes alot of things... and set a lotta things on fire... but he's not really bad.. He's just a baybee. When he gets older, I'll make sure to teach him to not break and burn things. Then peopel will see that dragons aren't bad!

I just hope we have enuff meat for him when he grows up. The little guy already eats alot for his size.. I'll just have to learn more from Dad on how to get stuff for free without getting into troubel.

That's another thing... Peopel say steeling is bad, but we need to do it. Espessally with Astalder around for us to feed. Keeping him a secret is hard enuff already... and I don't want to be hungry like I was before...

[[Blade: Age 12
Astalder: Youngling
Journal entry]]

Dang, not much of this journal survived. Astalder accidentally set it on fire some time ago, which burned out a good deal of its pages. Not really anything I can do about that now, but at least some of this thing is still in tact.

Over the past few years, Astalder has grown quite a bit since he's been a little hatchling. It's a good thing he's really good and sneaking around and going about unnoticed or we could get into a little bit of trouble. Still, I'm going to need to find a bigger, safer place to keep him soon, as I'm sure he's still got a lot to go.

Anyway, Dad got himself into a big mess a few days ago. Big enough that he was taken to a well-known prison in the next city. I'd try and break him out... but I don't think getting myself caught will be really any use. Mom's sick again, so this means I gotta take care of all of us for now. It shouldn't be too hard... I just gotta make sure I don't get into trouble like Dad did. Even then, I should be alright since I started to train with wielding a sword two years ago. Well, at least I hope I'd be alright. I still gotta work on my skills... a lot.

Astalder: Youngling
Journal entry]]

Well I brought Astalder to Genyiel so he could be with his own kind. Things didn't quite go as planned... since one of the Dragon Knights ended up getting killed at the circle. The cause was this one guy we met earlier that day... the bond of a Fallen named Tarketh.

We tried to help or find the guy, and I almost got killed in the process. The bond ended up losing his life unfortunately...

There seemed to be this whole plot from the Fallens, but I'm not sure what they planned exactly. A few others and I managed to save one village's citizens from burning to the ground along with their homes... which is good I guess. But who knows what else is going to happen there?

In any case... Astalder is now living with those who won't try to kill him for what he is.. which is more than what I could say if he had stayed here.

[[Blade: Age 20
Astalder: Adolescent
The Bonding]]

Years have gone by since Blade left his dragon companion at Genyiel Circle to be with his own kind. Eight years to be exact. Every now and then, the boy tried to make his way to the place to visit his friend, but it was difficult to do so, causing his visits to be quite infrequent.

Infrequent enough that his last visit happened to be three years ago. It was this reason that the boy, now a young man, trekked to the dragon lands once more. In the recent years, he had taken after his father in his thieving ways. His mother objected to such deeds, but she is now no more, having succumbed to disease. He had also become a better swordsmen, as well as becoming more ruthless to some extent. While he still preferred to avoid killing, no longer was he the boy who was afraid to go for a fatal blow if needed.

As for Astalder, he was now an adolescent dragon, which is what he would remain to be lest he gets a bond. Like the human thief, the dragon has grown in more ways than one as well. His abilities in stealth have improved quite a bit. Though, he couldn't turn invisible, so there was still limits to how well he could move about unnoticed. Aside from that, he had matured somewhat as well. Before he liked to pull some pranks on others if he could, but those types of acts had decreased considerably over the years.

The dragon had even found a little friend; a wyvern he named Rikyu. In Genyiel, he had made few friends with his own kind, so he gratefully accepted the company of Rikyu.

One thing though... was that he still could not fly, due to the fact that he was a normal dragon without a bond. Astalder couldn't help but feel some envy for those gifted with flight. It seemed that most his peers had found bonds, and even his wyvern friend could fly. Yet he was still stuck to the land, with his stunted wings that wouldn't even allow him to glide should he try. Yet, he didn't really want to find a random human to force into bondage for his wings. And there was really only one human he would want to make the bond to...

-------

Now pausing several hundred feet from one of the entrances of the place, Blade glanced about, feeling as if he was being watched. As he looked about warily, he placed a hand at the hilt of his sword, just in case whatever was near wasn't exactly friendly. Though, as far as he could see, there was nothing around him.

The thief narrowed his eyes some, being certain he wasn't just being paranoid. But with nothing to be found nearby, perhaps he was being just that. So for now, he continued onward, though carefully.

Then without warning, a fairly large shadow flitted out of nowhere only to tackle him to the ground.

"OUF!" grunted Blade before staring up at a familiar face, ".. You're getting a little big to be jumping on me like that you know."

For a moment, he chuckled, but it soon trailed off as Astalder didn't get off of him. Adolescent dragons were quite heavy, even if they weren't fully grown, so he most likely wouldn't be able to get the dragon off of him unless he really put effort into it.

"Is there something wro--"

"It's been ages since you last came Blade! What have you been doing all this time?!"

Astalder obviously wasn't all too happy with his old friend. After all, he longed for the wings he were denied since birth. Wings that would have been his if not for the humans of the past. Another change there; while he still didn't mind the two leggers so much, he now had a small bit of spite for them. And with the absence of his friend, there was no way he could gain the wings he desired.

"Hey.. calm down. It's not easy going from the human lands to here you know. Sorry I couldn't come more often... now can you get off of me? You're a lot heavier than you used to be..."

"How can I remain calm when my peers can fly about through the heavens while I am trapped here on the earth? Something I should be able to do by now if dragon wings were never robbed in the first place!"

The dark red eyes of the human widened slightly. So Astalder had been influenced by the dragons' side of the story to some extent. It didn't sound as if he hated humans, but he could tell that the dragon was frustrated with the fact that he could not fly while others were able to.

"Astalder... if it bothers you so much, then go find a bond. There isn't anything that could be done about the past at this point..." said Blade softly, not quite realizing what his words could mean. As fascinated as he was with dragons, he wasn't so sure about becoming the bond of one. He valued his freedom. And the fact that he was childhood friends with Astalder blinded him from the notion that the dragon could bond with him there...

"Why go find one when I have one right before me?"

... blind until now that is.

The dark dragon raised a claw up, while keeping the thief pinned to the earthen ground. Though he waited before continuing on in a much calmer manner.

"If I do this.. you won't have to return home any longer. Last time you came, you mentioned how alone you felt there, without a family, friends, and even a home. We were once like brothers, along with being the best of friends, despite being of different species. Your home will be here, among the dragons. If this is not what you wish... then forgive me for what I am about to do."

Another moment of silence as Blade stared up at the black dragon. Then relaxing, he closed his eyes. It was true that he longed for the things mentioned by Astalder, just as the dragon longed for his wings. Maybe being bonded wouldn't be so bad after all.

"Alright... do it."

Without another second of hesitation, Astalder brought his claw down lightly to make a small cut on both himself and on Blade. As the bonding process began, the human passed out, being overwhelmed with sudden intense emotions and thoughts.

Later, he awoke, seeing Astalder standing by, as adult dragon.
