Alright. My daughter is now 6 months old and is DYING to crawl. She gets on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth and tries to "commando crawl" but she just can't do it. She gets alot of tummy and play time along with some alone time. But she gets SO frustrated and so upset and screams and cries because she can't do it. Is there anything I can do to help her learn how to crawl?

Crawling takes time, and that's usually how they start out. My mates little boy certainly did. What got Kyra determined to crawl (yes, she was just as frustrated she couldn't really move herself) was my mums cats. She wanted to chase after them and after a few visits to my mums, she learnt. She was like speedy gonzales once she got going. Try encouraging her to crawl to you, possibly have something she may want. It will take a bit of time but she will get there. When babies want to do something, they tend to do their damndest to do it. Also try showing her how to do it, do it yourself or move one of her legs, then her hand and try that. It helps to show her what to do and she will eventually get the hang of it.

Lilith crawled for exactly two weeks before she started walking 1 week before her birthday. But what I ended up doing, I'd get down on my hands and knees and show her. She'd watch a couple times then want to go herself. I would let her try and when she'd start to get frustrated I'd stand behind her and put my hands under her tummy like i was going to pick her up. Instead I'd only hold her so that she could still feel the floor but I had most of her weight in my hands. She could move and get used to moving her weight with her. Gradually I'd let her take on more of her own weight. She picked it up really quick that way.
