It was hard to stay in the shadows, especially since Mahy was not particularly fond of staying in the dark. She would have loved nothing more then to just run out into the bright, bright sun, and just lay in the soft grass, soaking in the world her mother had given her and her brothers and sisters. But Mahy was different from them, it was hard for her to see when it was bright, and the light did not feel to nice against her pure white, sensitive body and because of that she could not do as all the other Faun did. She had to stick with the shadows.
Mahy was not going to let this get her down. She loved her life, and she loved her mother. And she was going to make the best of everything she got. Even though her music still needed allot of work, it was another form of art that she found much easier, and far more enjoyable.
Small hooves plopping softly on the padded earth, bringing up her knees high as she pranced about. White arms raised delicately in front of her, hands soft as she raised them over her head, hair swaying with her rhythmic movements. Her harp lay in her little shaded bed of bushes, with a couple of other belongings. As the little Albino made her own music with the earth, and her hooves. Smiling softly, her pink eyes closed, and knowing her mother was watching proudly.

Dev was wandering, as always. He had his flute stuck behind his ear and was alternating between whistling and humming to himself. The song was nothing recognizable. The weather was perfect. Everything was perfect. He bent down to pick up a stick as he was walking. Humming absent-mindedly he tossed it in the air and caught it again, then picked up another one. Holding one in each hand, Dev rapped them against the tree trunks as he passed them, raising the volume of his voice from humming to inarticulate singing to accompany the not-so-rhythmic drumming.
In the fringes of the forest a flash of white caught his eye, and while he was peering at it he tripped over a log and was sent sprawling. He rolled over and stood back up, still staring at what he could now see as a white faun. She was dancing. He watched with interest, coming quietly closer and keeping hidden as if his appearance would cause her to stop.

She continued on dancing, not aware that she now had a small audience. Trying out new moves, though still a bit ungracefully, there was definitely some potential is she just kept working at it. Maybe if she put that mind set in her harp, she would improve faster. But dancing was much more fun in her opinion.
Pausing she blinked, shifting the position of her hooves and arms slightly, a thoughtful determined expression on her face. She began her turns, hands gently rising up as she completed each one. One, two thr- Maybe doing more then one at this point was a step to far for her abilities. Hooves getting tangled up. eyes widening in surprise as she started to lose her balance. Arms flapping wildly, as if trying to fly she fell forward into some bushes. “oof” she grunted as she his the ground… er… wait a minute. The ground did not feel like this. She blinked curiously and sat up. Looking down to realize that she was sitting on a young satyr’s stomach. “Oh… hello” she said smiling brightly, completely over looking the fact that she might be crushing him

Suddenly he was lying on his back with a weight on him, blinking up at the white faun's face. "Aaaah!" he shouted, more surprised than hurt, jerking to the side in a failed attempt to wriggle away. For a moment he strained, then stopped, eyes wide and eyebrows raised, his face flushing slightly under his fur. "Hey! Ahm..." He paused, trying to catch his breath but unable to because of the constriction of his diaphragm. Finding it odd that she did not get off, he pointed out mildly, "You're sitting on me, you know."

"huh?" she blinked, and looked down by her legs. to confirm... yes indeed, she was sitting on him "oh, yeah" she giggled. but still did not move. smiling at him for a moment, she sudenly realized how uncomfortable it might be for him "OH!" she yelped, clambering forward and crawling off of him, flopping down onto the soft grass next to him instead. it had been a while since she had seen someone new, and it was exciting every time. "sorry" she apologized, running her hand over the back of her head sheepishly "but why where you in the bushes?" she pointed out. pink eyes looking around the aria he was at

"Thanks," he gasped as he sat up. Then she asked why he was in the bushes and he shrugged. "Oh... I was... just watching, is all." He couldn't think of a valid reason for why he hid in the bushes to watch her dance; it had been a spontaneous thing without much deliberation.
He looked around at the ground and found where his flute had fallen. Picking it up, the young satyr held one hand flat, palm up, and tried to balance the flute vertically on it. It toppled over into the grass and he tried again. "That was nice dancing," he said off-handedly, eyes glued to what he was doing. He started humming under his breath and then laughed when he dropped his flute once more. "Oops." Now he tipped his head back and tried to balance the flute on the end of his broad nose. He failed even more quickly at that and stuck the flute behind his ear decisively, turning to look at the faun. "What's your name?"

she watched as he fiddled with his flute. replying distractedly with "ooh... " and "thanks" mouth open slightly as she followed the progress of the instrument she cocked an eyebrow and opened her mouth saying in a rather confused voice "why are you- Mahy!" her question was cut off, finding her name far more enjoyable then asking him about his strange game. she giggled smiling again and folded her hands onto her crossed ankles. rounding her shoulders "I'm Mahy, and who are you?"

"I'm Dev," he said brightly. He leaned back and braced himself on his arms. "Nice to meet you, Mahy." Soon he began to fidget and he plucked a few blades of grass and worked on twisting them together into a complicated mess.
Spotting her belongings nearby in the bushes, he quickly focused on her harp. "Ooh!" He scrambled over and reached for it, then paused and looked back over his shoulder at her. "Can I...?"

she blinked curiously at first. not sure what exactly he was doing. but when he turned to apparently ask for permission, she saw him reaching out for her Harp. eyes widening she crawled forward past him and snatched up her harp. clutching is around her body so he could not see it. and looking at him as if she was about to say very loudly "NO!" a boy had never touched her harp before, only girls did, and she could not help but feel at that moment a swell of protection towards her harp. but at the sight of the flute he had, her expression softened and her body relaxed a bit. "uuhh... If I get to play with that!" she said pointing to the flute and smiling brightly. she held her harp out to him to try and help convince him "but be careful. and I'll be careful to" she chirped happily

When she hid the harp he drooped a little and pulled back to respect her wishes. It was really cool, after all, and he understood if she didn't want -- but then she offered to exchange. Eagerly he took his flute from behind his ear and held it out to her. "Okay! I'll be reeeally careful." He took the harp gingerly and gazed at it, touching the strings and then brushing his finger across them to make a muted thrumming sound. How cool! It was very different from his flute's music, if what he played could even be considered music yet, and novelty always fascinated him. He picked randomly -- though still carefully -- at the strings, and the little instrument vibrated with discordant notes. Then he held it and watched until the strings were still again. With a smile he asked her, "Do you know how to play any songs on it?"

Giggling, she looked over the new instrument. not sure at all how it worked, and ended up just looking though the hole at different objects around her. turning to look at Dev though the hole as he asked her a question, she blinked her one eye that was still open, then lowered the Flute "well sure I can" she said "I practice allot. Wanna hear one!?" she said loudly and excited

He laughed at how she was using his flute, thinking that it looked like something he would do if he hadn't seen older satyrs playing their flutes and copied them. Learning how to get his hands to do what theirs did was not really a big aspiration for him. It was just something to do. He always needed to be doing something. When she offered to play a song he gave the harp back, his curiosity satisfied by his experimentation. "Yeah, let's hear it!" He sat politely to watch her, fingers tapping out a silent rhythm on his thighs.

Taking her harp back from him, setting his Flute back into his hands. she plopped back down into her little cradling bush, positioning the harp in her arms, but holding it a little tighter then she needed to. she began to pluck at the string, though rather clumsily, and what came out... well... it was noise, but one could not really call it music, the note did not flow together, and if it really was a song, it would be very hard to make out. tongue sticking out slightly as she watched what she was doing, trying her best to concentrate and play the right notes.

He watched avidly, blinking once at the less-than-musical noise but not losing his look of interest. The tapping of his fingers on his legs immediately began to follow her playing, but since it was somewhat lacking in regularity he couldn't follow very well. Which didn't bother him; he wasn't paying much attention to his hands anyway, and they kept on drumming until Mahy was done with her song.
"Good job!" he said when she finished, clapping enthusiastically. "You must have practiced a lot. You're way better than me. Me on the flute, I mean." He smiled blandly. "Not the harp, 'course. I don't play the harp... Um. Oh! Want me to play something too! On... the... on the flute." Waving his instrument with a small sigh he gave up on words.

She pouted slightly after she ended the noise and lowered the harp, feeling a bit frustrated, and knowing she didn't do the song right. but at the applause she was suddenly getting, and did not expect, she blinked in surprise, and lowered her face to hide creeping pink blush that showed up very easily on her white skin. she was to embarrassed to even say thank you.
she looked back up smiling wide when he suggested he play something. "oh yes yes!" she burst out. setting her gharp down on the ground with the solver and gold vial, "your turn!" she placed her hands on her lap, waiting expectantly
