 Aruna ambled slowly towards where she figured Delano would be waiting for her. She was moving like a snail because her stomach was bothering her, and it had begun to get very round. She didn't like the idea of feeling fat, and looking it, either. She was by no means a mare who cared about her looks, but she didn't like looking ugly either... and then it occurred to her what she was going to have to tell Delano. Oh my Goddess what is he going to say? Or do? I'm too scared... I love him to death, but what I've done with Rahu... Oh my Goddess it's too much to bear... She was panic driven as she finally stopped and laid down on her side, exhausted from having to move her bulk. "Lano..." she called out, hoping her mate would hear her.

Delano entered the meadow where Aruna usually waited for him. He had never wanted to leave her side at all but he was very much needed to help sort things out when a friend had called upon him. He very much missed her, his golden angel, pride and joy of his life. He was happy to be back and anxiously looked around for his beloved mate. He desired to feel her warm touch again and feel her soft silken mane. He wondered if perhaps she was asleep still, as it was early morning and Aruna was really more of a night mare...she was never one for the early daylight hours.
His ear twitched and flickered as he thought he had heard his name called, but the source of it was no where to be seen. Had he missed her so badly he was now hearing her voice when she was not there? The tall unicorn strode forward, eager to find Aruna as soon as he could an not be without her another moment.

She struggled to stand as she heard the familiar hoofsteps of Delano's as she called out his name louder. It was very early in the morning, and she hated this time of day, but the news couldn't wait. "Lano!" she called again, terrified but knowing she would have to tell him eventually, and sooner was better rather than later where it could be worse, she knew.
Doing what she had done with Rahu... it was embarrassing, excitable, and almost like a forbidden love... shaking her head, she ambled to where she usually greeting Delano and found her beloved mate standing where she knew she'd find him. "Lano?" she whispered, terrified. Delano could just as fearsome when he was angry as he was gentle and kind.

There it was...so he hadn't been hearing things. Aruna was calling for him. Delano's soft wondering, crimson eyes spotted his beloved mate. A relieved feeling to see her once again mixed with his undying love for her gushed throughout him and he rushed forward to meet her. "Aruna! my love! How I missed you. A beautiful sight for eyes that have sorely missed you in my absence. " but as he approached...Aruna did not appear to be happy as he had expected...no..instead she looked panicked with fright in her eyes. He stopped suddenly just in front of her, his eyes meeting hers. "Aruna? Whats wrong? you look terrified. Has something happened?" His expression changed quickly from joy to concern and worry for his mate.

Delano's concern and worry washed over her, relieving her slightly as she hesitantly spoke. "Um... While you were gone, I... um..." she couldn't get it out; why couldn't she tell him?! She was still terrified of his reaction, and at the moment wanted to run and hide. She also wanted to lay down, but knew she had to try and hide her sudden bulk before he saw it and asked questions. She wanted to tell him first, but somehow, her tongue locked up as a sob began to rise up her throat.

Delano waited for Aruna to speak as she kind of stuttered out a few words. "What is it? what happened while I was gone?" He hadn't yet noticed her belly, as he was facing her in front and was intensely concentrating on her face and eyes. She seemed to almost choke as a sob tried to escape. Clearly she was very distraught. Delano felt a sudden air of guilt wash over him. Whatever happened must be his fault. He had left her alone. He should have asked her to go with him or not gone at all.

Aruna finally calmed down a little, though she stuttered more than ever as she told him the news. "L-Lano, I-I... I-I p-p-p-p... I-I'm P-P-PREGNANT!" she finally burst out, closing her eyes for fear Delano would yell at her. He was her one salvation after all of her past issues and troubles, and to tell him about what had happened to her made her feel the worse possible. She didn't think about whether or not Delano probably thought something different; she was only worried about how he would react... and how he would act when he found out who the father was, as well.

Delano's eyes went wide, unexpected news but happy news nonetheless, for dear Delano was not aware the foals Aruna carried were indeed not his. "Aruna! Thats wonderful news! Why on earth were you so terrified to tell me!!" He practically pranced in place, joy and glee all over his face as he nuzzled her lovingly. "I can't wait to tell your family we are going to have foals! oh and we must see your close friends too! Tia and that stallion friend of yours, Rahu. I'm sure he'd be pleased to know you're with foal." The grin on Delano's face was wide, how would he take it when he learned thises foals were actually not his? "Excitement filled his voice, "Why it must have happened just before I left. I'm sos orry to leave you alone. Had I known I would never have left! You must be ready to foal any day. I'm so glad I made it home in time." His eyes twinkled with happiness.

His reaction was an unexpected one, and Aruna had to shake her head to snap out of it really quickly before Delano became too happy to really hear her. Taking a deep breath, she watched him for a moment. She really didn't want to spoil his happiness, but it was better than lying to him. "Lano... my love, the foals... they're not... yours," she emphasized, wincing mentally. "I'm pregnant... with..." she gulped, closed her eyes, and said bluntly, "I'm pregnant with Rahu's foals." Delano knew that Rahu was one of her best friends of all time, but to know this would more than likely devastate him, and she already felt guilty and horrible enough as it was.

Delano stopped moving when she spoke...standing very still and silent. The shock if what he had just heard...wait ..did he hear her right? Not his foals? And then she spoke again...Rahu. A part of him grew very angry, wanting Rahu's head for this...with HIS mate!!! But the thought dawned on him that she had loved Rahu before she met him. The anger in his face and eyes suddenly disappeared as he stood silent still, motionless.
Not only that but he had left her alone for so long. She was probably lonely. He had never expected Rahu to actually...do..something like this, but in the end it all boiled down to him again...He had left her alone..he was at fault. Had he been her ewith her where he should have been it would not have happened. Perhaps his love for her and hers for him was not strong enough to overpower hers and Rahu's love...and perhaps now Rahu wanted to be with her? Why should he stand in the way?? Many thoughts swirled about in his head, confusion, anger, hurt, betrayl, disappointment, and guilt.
Delano's head dropped. There was no pride in his stance or in his eyes, but instead a very heart broken stallion standing before the mare he loved. What was he to say? He really had no idea what to say or do. "I guess...I left for too long. I'm sorry....I...." He sighed and a tear rolled from the corner of his eye. " I wish the two of you the best of luck then with your love for each other and your new family." Delano slowly started to back away from her, seeing the now obviously round belly. He just wanted to run.....run away and be alone as he always felt condemned to be. She had been his hope for true love and now that dream was smashed into shattered pieces.

Aruna couldn't believe her ears. What? What was he saying? She didn't love Rahu like that anymore... She loved him--Delano! "Delano!" Aruna said, dropping his nickname as she walked toward him, albeit painfully and slowly as she finally was at his side, where she nuzzled his neck. "Delano, what are you saying? Yes, I felt very lonely without you, but... but that doesn't mean... you know..." She said, seeing the tear from his eye. "Oh..." Her eyes widened at his words. "What! No, Lano, no! Not that... please don't say that!" She wanted to break down, but held back from crying. The last time she had cried, she hadn't liked it very much, but she had a feeling this was going to really hurt the both of them if he said that... and left her... "No, Lano! Please don't leave me...!"

Delano shook his head, confusion and emotions running wild throughout him. He pawed at the snow with his right hoof. What to do? What to say....and then her final words stung like a bite into his flesh. "ME??? Leave you?" His eyes widened, almost uncontrollable emotion in his voice as his body tensed. "I never left you...I left only for a short time..if anything YOU left me...to be with.......him." His voice trailed off and he stared at her stomach, knowing she'd full well get what he meant. Had he been gone so long she'd run to the arms of another stallion? Her past love....
Bitterness now resounded in his voice. "You're having his foals, and not mine. How do you expect me to feel Aruna? I'd have given you the world and anything you wanted...my love eternally...and instead....I find you with foal to another stallion. " He closed his eyes and tears slipped out, staining his velvety red cheeks. "I still love you...but do you love me? Or would you rather be with the father of those foals? " He opened his tear-filled eyes to meet hers, pain and hurt clearly shining in them. "Why Aruna? Why did this happen? How?"

His words sliced through her like a thousand knives as she backed away from him, fear clouding her judgment as thoughts raced across her mind. He's leaving me he's leaving me he's leaving me... just like Rahu left me! No! She shook her head, not really knowing how she'd be able to explain to him what happened, because she had no memory of it. All she knew was that she had been feeling an aching loneliness and had left their home to wander around in search of company, when she found Rahu injured... and everything after that was blank. She closed her eyes, letting his words cut her and her heart to pieces, knowing she deserved what he was telling her. What could she say? He was right; and now all she could really do was probably just live by herself it that was how he felt... "Lano... I..." she began, then faltered, tears brimming to her eyes but not falling. She refused to cry. "I..." Maybe their love for each other wasn't as strong as she'd believed... after all, she bore the proof of it in her stomach. What was she to say to him other than that she still loved him? "Lano, I still love you. More than I ever had Rahu... please believe me..." She choked on a sob, but held back her tears.

Delano watched as she backed away from him...was she leaving him now? He supposed maybe that had been the plan after telling him. He was still in a very confused daze. "You never answered why Aruna....how do I believe you truly love me when you bear his foals. Did I ever stand a chance at holding your heart as mine or was I just a passing fancy til Rahu came for you confessing his love? " Delano's legs trembled, growing weak and numb...his mind almost as numb. Finally they gave way and he allowed himself to fall to the ground onto his knees, burying his head into his chest. So many questions that demanded an answer and so many emotions..it was far more then he could really stand to bear. She had crushed his heart. "If you plan to leave me for him Aruna then just leave. I cannot bear any more pain and hurt torturing my heart and soul and my very being. " He lifted his head slightly, "I would not be able to take it if you stayed with me, only to leave me for him in the future.....you need to make your choice and make it now. I love you Aruna...and I want to know how this happened...do you want to be with him? or with me? What does your heart truly say ?" He winced, waiting for her reply, expecting her to say Rahu was her choice.

He was scaring her; terrifying her really. This kind of emotional breakdown wasn't what she was expecting... she was more expecting him to burst out in anger... to declare that he would kill Rahu... instead, the blame fell to her. Her eyes glazed over as she began to say things out loud she would have, on regular circumstances, keep to herself. "This is my fault... I never should have... wandered away..." She lay down where she was, in so much shock. "...Everyone... they all leave me... even the ones I've come... to care for the most..." Okay, so she was acting like a depressed, selfish little twit, but she was in shock from all that had happened. "I... was lonely... so lonely..." she whispered, not noticing the tears dripping down her face, as her eyes were dulled as she kept repeating to herself the same thing over and over. "...I wandered away to find company... never should have wandered away... I should have waited... but I was so lonely... and it was so quiet... and the calming, bright red... it felt like he'd never return..." she didn't even hear Delano's question of choosing who she wanted to be with; all the intense emotions she had locked away for most of her life except for the few bursts that she had had from time to time came rushing back full force; it was mind boggling how intense it was, to suddenly regain emotions that had been locked away for an inevitably, seemingly, long time. "I chose Delano... he seemed the best choice for me... he loved me as much as I loved him... which was more than... Rahu..." The pain was extremely overwhelming, and due to her pregnancy pains as well, she fainted for the third time in her life.
