Harabu had found himself lazing about again, so he had children. It was an odd thought though he refused to admit it. After all how did he end up with children, only one of them showed a slight sign of being related to him anyway. Stupid lionesses, they know nothing.
After all Harabu had eyes for only one lioness and she would be the one he would have a family with, if they ever had one. She was the only lioness who he even cared for slightly. He loved her, though that was also something he wouldn't necessarily admit to. All in all the lion was far too proud.
He let his eyes close, the sun shining on his black pelt, his red markings glittering on his body. He was happy, life was bliss.

Amani ran over another hill, exercising her muscles. As she ran she thought of Harabu and this new place they had come to. She'd seen some cubs lately, happy little ones and the contrast between her life up until now and here was so great and it made her feel happier than she ever had.
She saw Harabu and smiled. He looked happy for once and she slowed to a walk, thankful that she didn't have his dark coloring. She didn't like too hot days all that much and a dark coat would make it worse.
"Tired?" she asked once she had gotten within hearing distance.

He moved his head slowly and let out a purr like sound. "Not if you're around." He smiled, moving slightly to be in a more upright position but yet not sitting or standing, he was very lazy.
"How are you my love?" He let out a yawn as he finished his sentence before shaking his rather large mane. He was the most unromantic lion that ever lived.

"I'm fine," Amani replied, rubbing her head against his briefly before settling down next to him. She gave him a sideways glance and smiled at him.
"Have you been lying around all day?" she asked in the tone of a mother asking her child if they'd been naughty. She matched the tone with a similar look. She'd noticed the changes in him, too, when they came here. She was glad to see him so relaxed.

Harabu chuckled lightly, "Do you really think of me being that lazy to be here all day doing nothing?" He tried to look innocent and sweet though the look wasn't exactly natural for him.
"Yeah I been here all day. What you been upto? Enjoying our new home?" He hoped she did as he would never wish any harm or anything to her. Amani had shown him so much and helped through so many tough times. She was his rock, however odd that may sound.

"That I have. I've been exploring a bit, looking to see where the best places to hunt may be. I really should probably talk to some of the older lionesses, I just haven't found the time," Amani replied, though her statement was somewhat odd. It wasn't that she didn't have time, quite the contrary. But she was just too busy exploring their new home and resting from their previous journey all at the same time.
She leaned towards him and rubbed the top of her head against his warm fur.
"I love it here. Thank you, Harabu," she murmured happily.

Harabu smiled, "Well I am sure you will find some time. There are plent of cubs around as well, maybe if we ever have a family the youngsters will have friends." He yawned again. So lazy!
"I am glad you like it here Amani, mainly because Im not leaving again!" He laughed a little and rolled over, batting at her a little playfully. He loved to just lounge around with Amani, it was perfect bliss.

Amani laughed and sat up, pawing at him in retaliation. Her heart swelled at the thought of having a family but then something else that had been in the back of her mind bubbled up.
"That's right, there are a lot of cubs around," she replied, batting at him once more.
"I saw a the cutest trio a little while ago. Two little boys and a little girl, two with really pretty swirl patterns," she said offhandedly, remembering them playing with one another. She hoped that she'd one day watch her cubs playing together close to her. Because knowing her, she wouldn't let them out of her sight.

Harabu laughed a little but stopped as she spoke of the litter of three. "Really? Well it means then that our own cubs will be able to have lots of friends, doesn't it!" He chuckled a little and licked at her lovingly.
"Something on your mind dear?" He thought it a little odd that she had mentioned this litter, especially when the litter in question happened to be his own and related to him.

Amani leaned into the lick, smiling, but sat down and sighed.
"I guess. It's just..." she started and her ears drooped slightly.
"I'm jealous, that's all. I see all these other lionesses with their cubs and it makes me feel bad. But... I'm scared, too. What if I won't be able to be a good mother? I never knew mine. What if I don't know how? I don't want to have to put my insecurities on innocent little cubs," she explained, her eyes closed.
Gods, she couldn't say it. She was smart, she noticed things now, sometimes even more so than others. After what she'd been through in that oasis, she had to. It wasn't the markings that scared her. No, it was those eyes, in the dark cub and the little lioness. Deep and dark, as if she could see the entire world and even more in those depths. Harabu had been gone for an eternity when he had gone to see Asi and left her in that devil's land. She hoped she was wrong. But... she still had to keep telling herself that.

Harabu looked at her a little worried and he licked at her.
"Amani... Im here with you, I always will be and you know that. We will be parents together, loving our own cubs!" He nudged her gently, worrying about her somewhat.
"Amani..." He spoke softly, wondering whether she knew though he still wasn't going to say anything, it was only Ishara's words against his.

"I know. I'm just being silly, aren't I? I've got nothing to worry about, not when you're by my side," Amani replied, smiling softly and she rubbed her head against him.
"I promise I won't worry so much. I get scared easily, but I'll try to be better," she added, pushing her worries aside. She'd also try to keep them there.

Harabu smiled, "We can work through anything together, you know that don't you?" He hoped she did. He loved her, however odd and weird that sounded to him, he had infact grown to love her and was proud of himself or more her for finding him and being the annoying tag along she had been.
He licked at her forehead again and then looked up at the sky. "Things can be so much better now, away from the oasis, here, no one can hurt us or our family." He smiled happily, nothing could make him feel happier then he was when he was with his mate, his love and his saviour.

"I know, Harabu, I know," Amani replied and leaned against him as he looked up. She inwardly flinched when he mentioned the oasis. She couldn't stop herself from bringing it up. The words had left her mouth before she could control herself.
"Harabu... That time when you left the oasis, you were gone for such a long time it seemed..." she whispered, shivering despite the heat of the day.

Harabu looked at her curiously as she mentioned the time he was gone, the time he had met Ishara, the time those cubs had been concieved.
"What about it Amani?" He was a little worried though didn't show it in any way he possibly could. She coudn't know could she?
