The Sunflower Ballroom
Sunflower Ball - January 15th, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM PST
The Sunflower Ballroom is a giant circular tent in the center of the fairgrounds. The only place it is open to the outside is in the front, where guards are posted and a red carpet welcomes the guests. Tiki torches are set up around its perimeter. Little security cameras are posted on them, watching for anyone who is trying to sneak in. Should you be daring to climb up on top, you will see there are security cameras watching the top of the tent as well.
Inside, everything is lit up by glass sphere lights which have been strung along the ceiling from the center. In the center, the giant speakers are hanging in a circle. Bright golden ribbons are strung along between the lights from the speakers, making the ceiling look like a giant sunflower. At the edges of the ceiling, more security cameras are watching for trouble and smaller speakers are playing the music for those far from the center.
The edges of the ballroom are the soft bare grass, kept dry by being under the tent for a long period. The center is taken up by a raised dance floor of polished wood with stairs for people to climb up on it and dance to the music. Opposite the entrance, at the back of the tent, is a table with many cups and a big flower-shaped punch bowl. Little peace signs have been painted on the sides of the cups. Cocktail waiters, however, are wandering around with trays of bite-sized food. Hosts, meanwhile, are walking around and ensuring everyone is having a good time.
Welcome to the Sunflower Ball. Please enjoy yourself.
