The sunset coated mare trotted through the thicket, her long mane brushed against her hooves as her tail trailed behind her. Her head hung heavy as she tried to keep the sun high in the sky, to beat away the night. Vibrant aqua eyes that once shimmered and sparkled happily were now dull and full of sorrow.
With a sigh, she glanced to the sky as the night claimed its rightfulness to the heavens. And for the first time, she felt the weight of the world fall upon her shoulders, causing her to stumble slightly as she continued forward. She'd not dwell within the night to long, she didnt wish to be apart of its beauty any longer.

"You know, if you aren't watching where you're going then you really shouldn't be out at night. Not unless you want to get yourself hurt, or maybe even killed."
The words were spoken in a voice both scornful and matter-of-fact, the voice of one speaking to another that should know better that didn't. And given the speaker, that was probably true.
Ladius had been silently making her way through the darkness, enjoying both the cool breezes of the night an the relative secrecy of the shadows. This wasn't to say she was hiding from anything, but as one that fought for her life on a regular basis, she'd be a fool to ignore the benefits that night had to offer.
And she just liked the darkness, simple fact. Which was why she was out and about and able to witness the stumblings of the purple mare, stumblings that she had little patience for and provoked her to speak when she otherwise would have quietly moved past. But this mare was so careless in her movements, Ladius would have felt guilty if she hadn't offered at least a little advice.

The voice of the other mare startled Chepi, her head snapped up, her eyes showing her startled nature. " Oh..Im..Sorry." She didnt make eye contact with the other mare, just slowly backed up, flicking her tail so that she wouldnt tread upon it.
Chepi had once upon a time adored the night, the beautifull sky. Having been told her story was written in the stars she usually would bask in their beauty admiring them until the sun rose into the sky once again. But now, she wouldnt even glance at the sky.
Her thoughts swirled back to the matters at hand, she'd bothered the other mare without knowing she'd done so. She kept her head low, a meek and weak submissive stance as she continued to ramble of sorries.

Ladius had been doing what she had assumed to be a service in warning the other mare, but no sooner had the other mare begun to talk than Ladius' lip was curling in a scowl. Public service? Personal annoyance was more like it, since she HATED overzealous apologies. And why was the purple mare apologizing when she hadn't done anything wrong?
The dark mare closed her eyes for a moment, hoping that the purple mare would take the hint; but when the apologies kept coming, her lip curled even more.
"Shut up." Calm, cool, and quiet were the spoken words, but in spite of that they managed to carry with them a distinct menace. And why not, when that was their intent?

Chepi's ears flattened against her head as soon as the words were spoken, her already breaking spirit was easily disturbed and broken even more. She didnt say anything now, her voice had simply disappeared, but her eyes were locked on the other mare, she was calm, and collective, she didnt look like she was trying to be mean at all.
Chepi envied a stranger, she thought with a heavy heart. To be so, brash and bold was something she could never see herself being. Though, now alone once again, it was something she sought after greatly.

Damn it, even though the other mare had done as Ladius had said, the darker mare was still pissed. Perhaps it was the way that the purple one had INSTANTLY complied, clamming up as though she didn't have a backbone at all.
Appalled was probably the best way to describe Ladius' reaction. Did this mare ALWAYS do what she was told?
Raising a brow, she eyed the other mare for a mere moment before speaking, bluntly once again. "If I told you to jump, would you do that to? Or is this obedience limited to speech-related commands?"
Her voice dripped with sarcasm, but that was purely intentional. She just couldn't believe that anyone could be that spineless!
