Sure it is, though you need to know XUL, JavaScript, CSS, and XML in general in order to create Firefox extensions~

Yeah I'm learning PHP too. There's quite a few tutorials on the Internet. Just google it and you'll find all you need. Also if you need help with some short code try googling the code and usually some useful sites will come up.
