Daray trotted around, in search of any food that didn't have anything to do with wet soggy snow grass. He was hungry, and the happenings around him with the other Soquili weren't making it any better. Sure, he knew it was breeding season once again, but he had definitely not expected his wretched teepee-mate, Nostalgia, to be one of the mares lucky enough to be chosen by the Spirits to be the next generation of mothers. He couldn't stand Nos alone by herself.. how was he going to put up with a pregnant Nos and then a BABY Nos?
He snorted and kept on trotting. What he needed was to get away for the moment, get distracted... have a little fun.
Glancing up at the trees, he saw how empty they were this time of the season and sighed. Was he ever going to find something tasty to eat?

A large gray stallion was trotting around with a smile on his face. Knowing that it was breeding season again, Apple was a little happy to see the new babies that would be coming. The stallion remember when a mare that he used to love tried to have a family of their own, but they weren't one of the lucky ones that time. This time however, the mare and the stallion were not together anymore. Apple sort of missed Nalani, but they didn't talk much anyways so they weren't together anymore. Shrugging a little Apple bent his head down to sniff the ground. Pawing at the ground, the stallion found some soggy grass that was better than nothing he guess and nipped at it quickly.

Was it an illusion?
Daray had to take a second glance.... in a grey patch of snow, he saw a few HUGE looking apples a distance away. He assumed the speckles he saw was dirt on the ground... it was hard to tell due to the flurries of snow that had began to come down hard and fast, making Daray shiver as the wet snowflakes clung to his fur. As much as he knew he should be heading back home to the teepee for shelter, his stomach took control and led him closer towards the delicious, gigantic apples. Blinded by anything else, he raced quicker and quicker to get to the apples.... they were so HUUUGE compared to other apples!
Excited, he closed his eyes, opened his mouth, and sailed towards the gigantic fruit, awaiting their delicious juicyness to fill his mouth.
All at once, he felt warm and furryness enter his mouth, and his teeth clamped down harder.
Something told him that he hadn't bitten into an apple after all.

Hearing the pounding of hooves, Apple turned and squinted to see what was running away, or towards Apple. Seeing what it was, Apple's eyes widened a little. "uh oh." Bracing himself, Apple knew this other stallion looked hungry, and mistakened his markings as food. "This is gonna hurt." All at once he felt a large shove to where the stallion fell, and a stinging in his rump. "Gah!" Was all that escaped out of the stallion's mouth as his eye's filled with water, and he bit his lip. "Ouch!" The stallion yelled once more before looking at the stallion that had his teeth clamped on his rump where the markings were.

Since when did apples make "Ouch" noises?
Daray stumbled backwards, startled and confused. Taking a better look at the apples, he noticed his freshly imprinted teeth marks.... on apples that were on the back rump of a horse.
His orange eyes darted further down to see the long grey mane of the speckled color stallion, who seemed very much in pain and no doubt very agitated.
Daray knew he wasn't the brightest Soquili around, but this one took the cake. Had he actually just mistaken a horse for a couple of juicy apples... and then bit a horse in the butt?
He hacked and gagged, spitting the strands of fur out of his mouth and on to the snow. How gross!
"Oh, god," he wheezed, in between spits, "I am so sorry fellow... totally did NOT realize you were the apples!"

Turning towards the other stallion, Apple let out a small laugh. "It's ok, your not the only one that has done that." The stallion let out another laugh.
Slowly the pain was melting away. Tilting his head at the other stallion, Apple thought the stallion had an odd coloring. Of course Apple was also an odd coloring.
The gray stallion's light gray orbs snaked around the stallion's back as he looked over the other stallions markings. This stallion was the colors of Halloween.
Watching the stallion stumble a little, Apple turned to look at where the other stallion bit his rump. There were bite marks in the stallion rump, from the other stallion's hard bite.
Tilting his head a little more, Apple looked at this stallion's short mane and sort of short tail, obviously he had a two legger that cut his mane and tail.

"Hey!" Daray said, trying to act as if nothing really had happened. "What's your name, buddy? I'm Daray."
He gave a short nervous laugh. Hopefully this gray stallion wouldn't take offense to the misunderstanding. Daray had already ran enough for the day... he really didn't feel like getting chased around the fields by an angry horse at the moment.
It was pretty odd though... an apple colored horse? How nutty was that? His own orange markings resembled nothing, and he had never seen a horse that looked like food before. Very odd, but kind of funny at the same time.

Noticing the other stallion trying to change the subject, Apple went along with him. "Hello, I'm Apple." The stallion said with a wide smile on his face.
Apple was getting used to other horses mistaking his butt as food, but this time it hurt more than it usually did. All the other horses asked why he had Apple's on his rump, but the stallion bit him.
Laughing a little, Apple shook off the pain, and acted like nothing had happened. "Nice meeting you Daray." He said with a slight bow of his head, like his father and mother had always taught him to do.

"Apple, eh? I shoulda guessed." Daray said, and laughed.
He circled the stallion, studying the artwork on his body more closely. It was beautiful, the plump, delicious looking apples on his rump... and the pretty vines and buds that twisted around and up Apple's neck.
It was definitely out-of-the-ordinary looking, that was for sure.
Daray flew through the politeness and nodded his head back quickly, and jumped to his next question, "How in the world did you manage to get fruit tattooed on you? Did a two-legger do that to you?"
He continued to stare in amazement, and tried his best not to drool... too much.

Apple laughed as the stallion spoke about his name. "Daray? Does that mean something?" The stallion asked tilting his head a little.
Watching the stallion circle him, Apple wondered what exactly he was doing. He was very proud of the Apples on his rump that he was born with. How he got them he didn't quite know.
Seeing the other stallion throw his head a little, Apple smiled a bit. That must've been his way of saying hello. "I don't really know, I think I was just blessed with it by the gods." The large, gray stallion said looking over his shoulder at his Apples, then at the spots that lined his body.
"Remember, they aren't real." Apple said with a slight chuckle seeing the stallion's hunger stare.

Daray snapped back into reality.
"I know they're not real!" he snorted, hiding his embarrassment at being caught staring over them. "And Daray means 'Darkness", because my mother thought of me as some sort of evil spawn when I was born, due to some unhelpable circumstances."
He stated it as if he were proud of it, though deep down it hurt to remember the memories, but he refused to let them get to him... he wasn't going to be one of the whiney mopey Soquilis like his emo-teepee mate, Nostalgia.
"Having fruit on my butt would make me hungry all hours of the night and day... not that I'm not hungry then anyways." He chuckled. "So where are you from, Apple?"

The stallion took a step back from Daray, obviously Apple said something he shouldn't have. "I was only kidding with you friend." He said hoping that he did not embarrase the other stallion. "Oh..." Apple didn't know what to say since he hadn't been in the same situation, and he did not want to have the other stallion being sad.
Noticing the other stallion acting a little proud about his past, Apple felt that he liked it, but the gray stallion didn't ask any questions. Sadly, Apple didn't have a teepee mate, and he wanted a friend to live in the teepee with him.
"Actually, you don't ever notice it since it's on your rump." Apple explained as he laughed a little at the other stallion joke. "I think I'm from around here, how about you?"

"You think you're from around here?"
Daray's head tilted and he looked at the speckled stallion curiously. How did someone not know where they came from? Maybe this horse had a bout of amnesia or something. He was grey, like old horses, but Apple really didn't appear to be that old.
"I'm not from around here... I had to get out into a world with no boundaries. I was born in a land where horses were boring and normal colored. Not like me and all the other Soquili I've met in these lands." He flicked his tail happily, his black and orange mane slowly falling down in front of his eyes.
"No teepee mate? I wish I didn't have one... my poor stupid two-legger can't say no to a horse. Nostalga just sort of drifted our way one day out of the blue and Fable took her in. Now we're stuck with her... and she's even gotten MORE emotional since she got pregnant. I am sooo not looking forward to having a mini-Nos running around the teepee as well."
He grunted and shook his head in disgust. It was not going to be a fun future, but he'd learn to adapt.
"So, if you don't have anyone to live with, who do you hang out with? Maybe we know some of the same horses!"

Apple laughed a little. "I mean, I'm from here, but I don't know if my parents moved here when I was younger or what." The stallion sort of remember his mother as a gorgeous mare with spots all over her, and his father was a huge stallion that also had Apple's on him, but he looked a little different than Apple really did.
The large stallion didn't have amnesia or anything, he just didn't ever think about his past that much. He loved this place, and he didn't really care about his past.
"I think I sort of remember my parents, but I'm not too sure. I think my mother was gray like me and had a lot of spots, while my father had huge circles on him that looked like Apple's, but he was a little different, but I don't really remember." Shrugging a little the gray stallion jumped around a little like a playful colt would do.
"My two-legger loves horses, but she hasn't found a horse in such a long time that wasn't already cared for, I guess. I remember NOS, she was quite polite, but I knew her when she was new to the place." Apple said remembering that he and Nalani were together then and they greeted the mare.
Apple had always wanted to have a family of his own. A child or two to look after, a mate, a small fox, or wolf friend to run around with Apple, and of course I teepee mate that could hear him babble on about his family.
