Hello friends,
I am coming to you to discuss an idea I had to take care of our troubles, most notably that of our inability to moderate the forums but additionally our inability to give the GM moderator powers and other such difficulties.
I think we have to face the facts of life right now. Zae has many real-life obligations that are keeping her from spending much time online, and when she is online she really doesn't care about Gaia or this guild. While it may seem unfair for her to do such after coming back and siezing control again, we must also note that it would be selfish of us to expect her to spend her free time dealing with a problem she had once thought dealt with.
So, without Zaeyde, what are our options? Well for one, we could keep the status quo, remaining here with nobody to deal with the problems that arise during day-to-day posting. Or, as I propose, I could start us a new guild, set it up just the way this one is, and we all move there. Now wait, don't attack me yet, just keep reading.
If we move to a new guild, here is what I will do as the owner:
- I will pay for the guild and the subforums we need to start out.
- I will take no part in the day-to-day matters of the guild. As you may have noticed, I am a mule, my only purpose and use will be to sit as a dead account being the captain of the guild.
- I will set up an anonymous VC election with applications being PMed to myself, posted to a thread, and then voted on. To prevent cheating a well-thought-out reason for voting such will be required of each voter. This will allow the VCs to be chosen based on merit alone, not popularity.
- I will give powers to the elected VCs, then log off of this account, hopefully never to log back in.
I am sure you are all wondering who I am, but I shan't tell ye. As to why I am doing this, I feel we need to get a sense of order about our affairs.

No.
1. I have no clue who you are.
2. It's EXTREMELY disrespectful for Zaeyde.
3. It would NOT do well.
4. Even if it would be good, we dislike change. Especially anonymous change that includes power and doesn't include Zaeyde.
5. This guild would still be called the Gaia Community Sniper Game. So that one would look like a copy cat, and therefore fail.

The way I see it, right now the "family" is at eachother's throats with nobody able to mediate. I say we elect someone and listen to them, even if they aren't a VC or whatever. Just someone to say "My word goes." We could have a little badge in the siggie saying "GCSG SHerriff" and then we could elect Deputies and stuff. I don't know how we'd inforce punishment for breaking of rules, but we could make it work. I know we could take some of the stickies or announcments like the "We're stepping down" thread and edit it to be new rules and stuff because the user who made the post can always edit it. smile

I dunno...I think half the guild would agree and go and the other half would disagree adn say and we'll be ripped in half and that would fail.

This family has actually gotten a lot better at handeling arguments with each other. Threads that would have gotten into the double digits with people sticking the same point to each other over and over now only last a few pages before they finally settle down. I say a lot of people have matured for the better since a few months ago. I may not post all the time but I do read what went on when I wasn't online. Being a nerd that likes to read everything does has its merits. 3nodding Besides VC's can only do so much. It's up to the people who argue to settle down themselves.

We do need some kind of mediation and maybe it can be done anonymous. creating mules and therfore you don't know who it is that is punishing you and people won't take it personal on either side.
I do hate to se our family like this but I'm sure we can work this out its just making another guild isn't going to be the answer at all. Its like saying you hate your brother who in the room with you and that moving you and your brother to the moon is going to make it better. it won't (really I have no clue where these examples are coming from today).

In a way, I think it's a good thing that there isn't anyone moderating... It forces us to double-check our actions, and think about what we're doing... If we goof up, then there isn't anyone to bail us out...
An authority figure might even make things worse at this point...
I think, the only good vc's would do, is allow the addition of "announcements" for the game topics...
However, I do understand and appreciate the fact that you are thinking of Zae... I'm pretty sure that anything we do together as a "community" will make her happy. The less reliant on her we become, the more it shows that we respect her, since we don't force her to step in and do the whole "mother" thing that she's not too fond of...
Personally, I don't find the idea of another guild beneficial... but I do appreciate your attempt at trying to solve a perceived problem...

I did read I'm saying here or in a new guild or whatever it the "modding" needs to be done anonymously so that what happened with Nymphie and Meru and others won't happen again.
