Today was the day Amaterasu had told her son, Taka-Okami, that she would take him on a grand tour of the Pridelands. More Grand than the limited amount of area he knew, anyway. She could take him out on the huge, eternal grasslands to hunt down bugs, or take him to the watering hole, maybe. Wherever she went, she was certain Taka would like it. Ammy got up and stepped outside, knowing that her sons always were up before her. She exited her cave-den to see the familiar sights that she saw every morning.

His eyes flashed bi colors as the little pup snapped to attention and turned to see his mother walk out of the den. The little butterfly caught in his muzzle thrashed and fought before finally dying gracefully, falling open winged against his lower jaw. The yellow dust from its little wings tinged his white fur on his chin pale yellow before Taka released it and let the poor thing float silently to its grave on the ground.
"Momma!" Taka-Okami all but flung himself at his mother, ready for the day of seeing the wide open skies and world. He'd only seen the front of the cave and the little watering hole so far. But to see the world outside the den... to see the whole wide pridelands? Taka was so ready for that. ninja

"Good morning Taka!" Ammy said happily, suddenly full of energy herself. She trotted up to her son and hugged him against her leg. He'll be a good hunter, Amaterasu thought at the sight of the butterfly powder tainting his chin. She smiled warmly. In the back of her mind, as always, crept thoughts of whether either (or both) of her sons would gain the seer powers she had... that would reveal itself later in life.
"So where do you want to go today? We could go to the big watering hole, or we could go near Pride Rock," Ammy suggested. "Or I could show you the large plains in the pridelands..." The list could go on and on. She waited for her son to pick a destination, if any.

A content murr passed from the little husky marked maned wolf's muzzle as he nuzzled up to her white leg and wagged his tail hyperly to and fro. Taka wasn't one for speaking that often unless he was asked a direct question or his mother or brother appeared. But he didn't have to speak, he could get his emotions across with body language, especially the tail.
Yet his mother asked him a few questions all the same so, best to answer them yes? "I wanna go see the giant rocks over there!" Taka pointed with a tiny white paw in the direction of Pride Rock. He didn't exactly know what the name was but he knew what it looked like and the general word for what it was. Maybe his mother would grace him and let him go? Taka didn't know but he knew he wanted to. ninja

Amaterasu smiled. She had figured Taka would want to see Pride Rock more than anything in the Pridelands. It was the feature of the lands that led her here, and they were a very exciting thing. She never tired of them either.
"Very well then," Ammy said happily. "To Pride Rock!"
Amaterasu started to head in that direction, and checked to make sure Taka was following behind.

The pace that his mother set was more than easy enough for Taka-Okami to follow, slow enough that he could keep up but fast enough that he wouldn't really have time to get distracted by random things like another butterfly. Already his eyes were all over the place, taking in the sights of the pridelands for the first time, from the watering holes to the lounging lions in the distance.
When the lions came into sight Taka glued himself to his mother's leg, not quite sure how to take them and their lumbering size. While he didn't know exactly what a lion was, Taka could guess that they weren't something to be messed with lightly.
"M-momma? What are those?" He pointed with a little white paw, bouncing on three legs to keep up with her pace as he did so. ninja

Amaterasu stopped walking momentarily so her son wouldn't have to hobble about. "Those are called lions. Females are lionnesses," Amaterasu explained. "Mostly all of them are friendly here in the Pridelands, but it's when you leave the Pridelands they can be mean. Outside here there are some that would readily eat you up, so you have to be careful," Ammy continued, "But here in the Pridelands, the meanest lion will just say to leave them alone. Nobody will eat you here."
The more Amaterasu explained to her son, the more she realized what a wonderful place she had picked to raise her pups. She awaited to see if Taka-Okami had understood.

"Lions are really big." Taka said, marveling at how large they appeared even from the distance they were away from them. Maybe he would be that big someday? After all his aunt Kaede was a lion right? And she was pretty big herself, though not as big as them or as his momma.... so maybe he would or wouldn't?
Or maybe he could just pray to grow up big like the lions he was looking at now? Yeah that seemed like it would work out. "So Ukabe and I are safe around them?" He asked at last, his little tail wagging furiously as he finally realized that he would be able to make some more friends. "Momma will I grow up that big someday?!" ninja

"Yes Taka, we're safe around the lions of the pridelands." Amaterasu told her pup. It felt good to be able to say so. "As for how big you get," she continued, "You'll be at least as big as me when you grow up, but you'll probably be bigger." Amaterasu said. She wouldn't know how they turned out until they grew. She wouldn't even look into the future to find out. She wanted it to be a bit of surprise.
Ammy started to walk again, slowly, making sure Taka was coming. She smiled down at his two-toned eyes.

"Does that mean we can go and play with them?!" Taka brightened up immediatly, his white paws tapping after his mother as fast as he could. His two toned tail swished back and forth hyperly. So he would pray to the gods to grow as big as a lion and then he would be able to play around with them.
It would be SO much fun to play with a grown lion when HE was all grown up! Taka knew that he wasn't about to grow out of this sort of mindset but he could at least have fun with it. ninja

"Sometime, yes," Ammy said to her son. "Most adults are busy most of the time though," She explained to her son. "There are younger lions though, and I know that they're very playful, just like you!"
In front of the pair loomed the gigantic Pride Rock. Ammy remembered her first time being here, with Hadaya. She'd even met the queen! The memories flooded her mind mometarily, and then she pushed them away, returning to the present.
"This is Pride Rock," She introduced as they approached. Already, the ground was getting more and more rocky. "The royal family lives here, but anyone is allowed near," she explained to her son, slipping momentarily on some loose rocks.
