Has anyone heard of Spring Awakening? It's a new musical which opened on Broadway in December about adolescent sex in 1891, when the original play that it was adapted from was written. I think it's this decade's Rent.

I don't know how I feel about it. My friend talks about how AMAZING it is constantly, but all the footage I've seen of it just doesn't interest me. Not my type of show it seems. I'll see how I feel after I seem them preform on the Tonys.

It sounds interesting, but I don't know if I'll go to see it when I'm in NY, unless I get a good deal. I have one song from it that was the free download on iTunes last week, and I enjoy it, but I don't know if it is something that I want to see on stage.

I hope they win the Tony for best Musical and Score and Book, at least. I understand why you'd want to wait to see it on the show. I just hope they pick a decent scene or scenes to show. A lot of stuff I've seen on the Tonys are just junk. Bad scenes or whatever.

Ooooh. Ok. Now I can really say it. The cast recording is AMAZING, and I was skeptical about how it would work out in a stage musical, but I saw it at the Eugene last night and it is simply brilliant. SOOOOOO much better live. It really sounds nothing like the cast recording, as lovely as that is. If you get a chance DEFINATELY see it. I wouldn't compare it to RENT beyond being an emotional story, controversial, and rock, but it's definately new and already collecting a strong fan-base, etc. There were at least 20 of us who waited outside the stage door for about an hour in the freezing old whether. The cast is incredibly nice. Really, really sweet to the fans. Most of them spent time talking to every one of us, signing things, John Gallagher Jr. (love him) even showed us his freshly blowdried hair. Good times.

My friends went to see it last night. I would have gone, but then I would have had to sit at Port Authority alone til 1 in the morning waiting for a bus so yeah.

They called me afterwards and said as uncomfortable as some of the scenes made them feel (aparently someones boobs make a Broadway debut in their own right) it was a really amazing show.

I may have already said this, but yes, it is an incredible show, and it's not the show MINUS the racy parts, it's the entirety of the show that makes it so powerful. Every piece of the show was done in great taste and it totally added to the message, the story, and the intensity of the show. It could have worked without it.

That being said, I would say My Junk definately made the majourity of the audience more uncomfortable than the sex scene...

I have not seen it yet so which one is my junk? Cus if it's the song between the homosexuals... Sean (who has read the play version) said it wasn't nearly as racy as he thought that would be.

N-n-no. That's Touch Me (Reprise), when Hanschen and Ernst sing to each other. That's a rather light, simply adorable and hilarious scene. The one I'm refering is also quite hilarious and light, but not quite to adorable. To put it quite bluntly, Hanschen jerks off centre stage in front of the audience less than half an hour into the show =)

Ahhh, yes... Sean spoke of that as well.

Yes, it's a very different musical. I liked it a lot, as I said. What I like about it is that it juxtaposes children having sex and learning about sex with a girl who is molested by her father. Very strong, I think. so you have Melchior, who seems to be aware of sexual feelings. Moritz, who can't quite understand it. hanschen and that other guy who have a gay relationship. And a girl who is sexually molested by her father. quite different ways of spring awakening.

I finally got my hot little hands on a copy of the album... been enjoying it. My friend did a monologue from the original Spring's Awakening in theatre class as well.

And someone jerks off in My Junk? I liked that song too xD
