Jesus' eyes always gave me the creeps....

There's one interpretation that creeps the Hell out of me. It was one of the early Christian Icons. Though..Those just creep me out anyway. Like, here's one of Mary and Jesus:

Isn't that scary? >.<

EDIT: Found it. Christ Pantocrator.

Well, since you...kind of look like Harry Potter, if he was older, a heroin-addict, and lost his razor. Actually, I don't think Harry Potter's actually capable of growing that much facial hair. But yeah. And that painting of Jesus makes him look like one of those ***** truckers you meet at a truck stop in Kansas...

So yeah, I'm going to have to go with this guy...

Oh, and iolitefire, go to a huge-a** art museum, and find one of El Greco's religious paintings. Online pictures don't do them justice, since El Greco used some sort of iridescent paint (they still don't know what he used) to make his eyes "shine". It's scary as hell. I love El Greco as an artist, but his portrayals of Jesus are insane. I saw one at the Lourve, and...man. (here's one, but like I said, online pictures don't do them justice)

Lol, pageantry's version makes Jesus look like a serial killer or something. Kinda like Charles Manson. El Greco's Jesus looks almost elven. I mean, look at the long face and slightly angular jawline. The ears almost look pointed too....crazy!

Oh, here's a fun thought. The Christ Pantocrater that I posted, would be located in a dome in the apse of the church, right above the altar, staring down at the congregation. According to what we've learned in Art History, some Orthodox Christian Churches still have Christ Pantocraters in them.

That makes sense. Back then Jesus was considered the Judge. He was less...compassionate and more strict. He judged the souls on their worthiness to enter Heaven. In order to have a chance, people would pray to Mary in hopes that she would vouch for them in front of Jesus.
Your pantocrater had a slightly grim look, which I bet had a good affect on the congregation.

Heh, it probably did. I still say that it's one creepy looking Jesus. Probably one of the creepiest pictures/depictions of him that I've seen. Though, while we're on the topic of older interpretations of Jesus, I've included some more Early Christian art works for your enjoyment. Notice how in the early interpretations, Jesus didn't always have a beard or long hair and was sometimes depicted as being younger. There was one icon we studied in class, but I fail to find an image of it on Google. In that one, he looked really really young. I just felt compelled to include the last one because of how muscular and oddly cartoony he looks. Interesting twist on a guy who is often portrayed as being little more than skin and bones..

You now all have a more recent picture of me. For more info on my appearance, read the following:

You have likely noticed that I have long hair. Not just long though, it is quite curly. When I let it down, it goes to about half way down my back (unevenly, meaning that it is not all the same length). My eyes are the kind that change color depending on my background and by what I am wearing (certain blues, greys, and greens look really good on me ^_^). I have very nicely shaped forearms, but not a lot of substance to my upper body. If I were more athletic my legs would be damn near perfect, but as such they are just rather muscular and slightly toned, with an overall pleasant shape (I am told).

Part of the reason I made this thread was because I have been hearing for several years that I look like Jesus. As such, I want to know who actually looks better. Not where your allegiance lies, but who you find more aesthetically pleasing. In a different, larger guild, I had/have won 1/3 of the votes (11/33, last I checked).

Though it brings up the subject of appearances. While there we could move on to how an individuals appearance could lead you (or me) to hold a false belief about them. Example: blond cheerleader. We usually get the automatic reactionary thought that they will be "dumb" or "airheaded" which is not necessarily the case. I have known a few who were A students, and could be clever when they wished. One was even an awesome football player...

When has someone appearance or the way a situation looked deceived you?

Blind: Short answer, maybe.

I've met quite a few people who looked or sounded intelligent and turned out to be really damn stupid.

I only really remember one guy. He looked like your standard thin pale rebel wannabe, kinda cute, mostly generic. After trying (and failing) to convince Laren that he (Laren) was some sort of destined messianic martial artist called The White Dragon, he suddenly stopped having a moral high horse and became some sort of weird man-slut. Apparently the Look worked for him - he got laid like linoleum by chubby goth chicks. It was really sad. Well, for them.

Oh yeah, and I voted for you Khalida, because I know Jesus is forgiving.
