The sky was splashed with color as the sun began to rise from behind the landscape. The dew began to sparkle in the newfound light and the world of dull black and gray became full of color. The green-gold grasses seemed to sway in a strong rythm, for the wind was wild this day, as if alive in the beauty of the dawn. Vian lifted his head from where he lay, only to have his black mane tossed about his face and in his eyes. He lifted a paw as he ducked his head slightly to clear it away and clear his vision. It sure was an interesting morning.
He wasn't exactly sure where he had fallen to sleep. He had just know that during his travels it was growing dark and he had been tired, so he had chosen to rest. He felt refreshed, ready to start out again, but first he had to get his bearings, no matter how much the wind blew.

Vian wasn't the only one rising early this day. Meilin had been up already for roughly an hour, in truth, and was moving again on her way, for the moment cursing the wind, for it kept her sister's already faint trail even more elusive.
Rather, impossible to follow, but Meilin was too stubborn to admit it so readily.
The white pelted, silver ocelot-spotted female growled in aggitation to herself before resigning to stop her search until she'd either had food or the wind died down some. She wouldn't find anything at this rate, and probably had already managed to throw herself off of the trail.

"Mm...?" Vian peered into the distance, the wind blowing in his eyes as he did so. He swore he had saw something moving. When the air took a pause he was able to see more clearly. He had been correct. It appeared to be a silver lioness and she didn't look all that happy. And that wasn't the only thing. Clouds were rolling into motion behind her, almost as if they were trailing behind her footsteps. A storm was coming. With a small stretch of his awakening muscles he stood. Perhaps she needed some assistance, with an expression like that. He walked over to her at an easy, casual pace, pausing when he drew near, "Excuse me, but is everything alright?"

AIM Log "In a matter of speaking." She called ahead, voice raised to be heard as the wind seemed to try ripping the words from her mouth, her own locks of fur blowing a bit ahead of her, and still-- the wind pushed and pulled at her, forcefully tugging her in Vian's direction. Her frame was a light one at that, and she had to step wisely. So far her footing had been nothing short of certain, but a misplaced, dust covered root took her by surprise. She didn't trip, but it was enough to upset her progress, and with a startled yelp from the lioness the wind found victory-- sending her on a toppling collision course with the blue-tiger. Meilin's eyes shut as she braced for the impact, unable to stop.
Vian sensed trouble before he actually saw it. Despite his apperances and demenour, he was a very skilled lion and very wise in the ways of fighting and therefor the movements of others. He spotted her trouble at keeping balance before the wind could take her. And as it did, pushing her towards him, his body reacted like lighting, quick and smooth. He was on his hindlegs in an instant, anchoring them to the ground and lifting his front paws to brase her, and himself, for the impact. So, with a slight jolt to his body, he "caught" her, in a sense. "Are you alright, miss?"
She was surprised when they didn't both go falling over backwards, having been prepared for that, and to apologize for her moment of carelessness, but she instead found herself enrapt in his forelegs, and looked up in mild shock.
"I-I'm fine."
Meilin quickly regained her composure, pulling her weight away, feeling aflush of embarassment at the innocently intimate position. For a few moments, Meilin completely forgot about the oncoming rainstorm, a mistake indeed, because while she was fumbling with her surprise the rains made their presence known.
A loud crackling of thunder, a flash of lightning, and the rattle of the downpour that would soon be upon them. Silver eyes whipped around to the skies overhead as the sheet of rainwater made it's way closer.
"I'm glad to hear it," he said with a nod and a small smile, settling back on his paws. If he was in any way embaressed by catching her he certainly didn't show it. He slid his gold eyes to look at the storm just as rain began to fall. Sudden showers like this were common enough in this sort of area, so he wasn't really surprised. Especially when it had shown sighs of coming before. "I think...we should try to find a way out of the rain," he suggested as if she weren't a complete and utter stranger. After all....he was sure she didn't want to be wet and cold either.
Meilin recovered smoothly then, finding her bearings regained. It was hard enough walking on dry ground, but once it became slick with mud it would no doubt be twice as bad.
"Yes... there's a tree up ahead that I was headed towards." Meilin confirmed, lifting her head again and taking a step or two back just to put a polite amount of space between them again.
Vian turned his head and saw the tree she had mentioned. Yes, that looked like it could keep them dry. If not both of them, at least one of them. That was better then nothing. "After you," he agreed with a small gesture of one paw. He planned to trail behind, to block most of the wind-force, in an effort to keep her on her feet. It seemed the only reasonable-only right-thing to do in this situation. And after all, if there was only room for one he'd let her take it. He could handle walking about in a storm if need be.
Meilin nodded, though a bit warily uncertain of leading. An attack from behind would be easy to pull off in this weather, she was at a disadvantage already being of smaller frame, no mane to protect her neck, and with this wind and unfamiliar territory it just made her that much more on edge. She really didn't know what the rogues were like in this area, though this one seemed harmless enough, one never knew.
Still, there wasn't much time to argue-- and she wasn't about to accuse him with the rain approaching as fast as it did. They'd be caught in it no matter what, she was sure, but at least they could get out of it rather than staying in it. "Gloved" paws set into motion without further delay-- immediately following the nod. His larger figure did serve to break the wind, and since he wasn't attacking, she seemed to relax a bit. They could speak once out of that horrid wind.
Vian followed after her, leaving her plenty of personal space, but still staying close enough to act as a weind-shield. Of course, being a lion from the desert, the cold win cut through his coat like a knife and he quickly felt himself grow chilled to the bone. But he murmured not a word of complaint. For complaining got one nowhere-and they were almost at the shelter. Hopefully it would be enough for the two of them. He might be civilrous, but he'd still love somewhere dry to rest.
They reached the tree just moments after the rain washed over them, continuing on it's hurried path towards the Pridelands (not that Meilin could tell the Pridelands were close yet). She let out an uncharacteristic squeak-- unprepared for the absolute chill of the water as it soaked into her pelt-- but she was at least able to partially surpress the noise, looking into the shelter immediately, grateful to see it was large enough for both. "Well, at least we won't get further soaked?" She sighed, slipping inside once indicated that she should go first again.
"Yes, that in the very least is a good thing," He agreed, barely able to surpress a shiver. With his pent suddenly soaked his dark mane draped in his face, blocking his eyes a little. But more then that, the water made it nearly certain he would be cold the entire night. No matter how much time he spent away fromt he desert, he had to admit he missed the heat. He never got used to these chilly spells. He settled down opposite her, his longer body having to hunch over a little to fit.
"It would be warmer if we sat closer," She stated, having already figured on this the moment she realized they'd be caught in the storm. Not to mention, with how little room there was to start with, it was illogical to cramp themselves just for the sake of personal space. He hadn't crossed her, nor had he prooven his intentions questionable, so Meilin had no objection in it.

AIM Log Vian offered a smile in return for her kind gesture. Not every lioness would wish to sit so close to a stranger, even in such a storm. "That is very gracious of you...but I certainly wouldn't want to drip all over you." For it was true he had gotten more wet then she, since he had been in the rear. "Though...I must admit...it's terribly tempting," he added as an afterthought, shivering. For such a large male he certainly didn't retain much body heat.
Meilin shook her head, simply, she wouldn't push the topic, but she did reply-- "A little water never hurt anyone, unless of course 'anyone' was an ant." She chuckled a bit.
"True," Vian agreed with a small rumble of a laugh. But one could never assume how another would react. And he was certainly one to air on the side of caution and curtousy when dealing with others. He tilted his head slight, letting a bit of his mane slide out of the way so he could look at her with conciderate gold eyes, "Are you sure it's quite alright?" Not that...she seemed the kind of lady to make an offer without meaning it.
She nodded again quietly and stood up enough to move closer, shivering as the water still in her own pelt shifted against her skin again, and the wind still blew a bit of rain into the little aclove. Still, with him hugging one wall, and her hugging against him, they should be able to avoid catching any kind of cold or sniffles.
She settled down directly beside him then, her spots blending in with his stripes as their pelts met, and despite how cold the rain made him feel to himself, he seemed warm to her for the body heat he exuded, and no doubt vice versa.
Vian relaxed as she settled herself, for while he was polite he was far from shy. His shivers settled at her touch, for she certainly was warm compared to the open air. He leaned against her ever so slightly, so he was not crammed against the wall. Once it seemed they were both comfortable he asked casually, his low, smooth voice not far from her ear, "So where were you headed, that would get you caught in such a storm Miss...?" He didn't recall catching her names. And he knew he had yet to give his.
She seemed to finally realize this at the same time, and corrected that in the same instant that she answered him as her shivers also quelled, not once minding the dropletes of water that dripped from his pelt to hers.
"Meilin, and, I was trying to make it to this tree for a rest. I've been in search of my sister, however... we were seperated some time ago. She's got quite the headstart, I'm afraid."

This, of course, perked Vian's interest. For he too had a similar reason to be wandering. "Is that so...?" He mused with a small, warm smile. This was something he could relate to, with every fiber of his being. "I too am seeking my sister. Though...my search is probably little more then folly, for I have not seen her since her cubhood and I'm sure she's long been an adult by now." He spoke with affection, for even the thought of Adanna brought a smile to his face. She had that affect on people. There was no doubt in his mind that she was alive and well, either, for she was never the kind of individual to be put down easily. He was quite sure she was fine. He just wished to see her again, above all else.

"The way that you speak, you must have been close. I'm sure that even if she's grown by now she would be glad to see you again. As long as you have faith in your cause..." She sounded quite convinced of this, and calm as she spoke the words. "Faith and trust has brought me this far, and I will not turn back, and neither should you." A small encouraging smile, very small, but scincere, even if a bit reserved.

Vian smiled warmly, appreciating her words greatly. "No, you're quite right. I don't think I'd ever stop looking until I found her. I don't...think I could settle without knowing how she is doing, without seeing it with my own eyes," He murmured smoothly. His shivers had finally ceased, for huddling together had truly done the trick. "What about you and your sister...how did you get so far behind her?" He questioned with genuine interest, his gold eyes watching her from the corner of his view.

Meilin listened intently as he responded, nodding as if in approval or agreement. She was pleased that he wouldn't give up either, and she was confident that he'd find his answers.
When the topic shifted to Ausi'juu, Meilin made a thoughtful sound and directed her gaze to the pouring storm outside, where lightning began to dance across the Savannah skies, followed by an ominous crackle of thunder. Her muscles tensed out of surprise by the loud noise. She knew that the thunder couldn't harm her, but she detested the noise. If one didn't see the lightning strike then the skie's following angry growl always came out of no where. Naturally, she disliked feeling surprised and snuck up on.
It wasn't a fear, exactly, so much as constant surprise.
"My sister... was taken from us, from our pride. There was a tyrant that ruled our lower lands from the mountain. One of his banished sons tricked us, and she left with him. I'm here to bring her home, or at least to see if she's alright. She's been through so much already... I don't know what I'll do if he's hurt her."
The last of what she said was uttered under her breath, just barely above a whisper as she stared into the rain with glazed eyes.

Vian leaned a little closer as the thunder clashed, sensing her unease. It was meant as a comforting jesture, especially as she began to talk on what seemed to be some painful and sensative memories. He knew how it felt, to worry about someone like that. Though he believed in Adanna's capabilities, he couldn't help but worry about her getting hurt every day of his life since she had been separated, especially since she had been so young. "If she's anything like you-from what I can gather in the few minutes of your company-she'll be alright," he said in a gentle, warm voice, "I'm sure you'll find her."
