so yeah. i was hoping to get xbox live this season but it was a false hope. so here's my deal, i sleep downstairs in my two story house and the 360 is in my room, now get this, the router is upstairs. do the math. my friends said i ought to get a wireless router that will y'know get a signal so i dont have to get like a 50-60 foot cord running through the house (it'd just look fugly) but heres the problem, the service i have isn't wireless, i set the freakin computer up i should knoe (my dads real lazy when it comes to this kind of stuff) i physcially took a cord, inserted it into the router and the other end into the plug thingy ( i dunno what u call it) then i grabbed a usb cable connected one end to the computer and th other to the router. what do i do? get the wireless thing, grumble and break it to my dad we traveled all the way to target for nothin and we have to go bak? cause i have a perfectly good (used) account, with a gamerscore of like 3 and 2000 somethin achievements, and i'd like to challenge all of my friends when i go on summer vacation. cause hey, we're all lazy, we don't actually go to our friends house to play! cause squinting to try and see whats going on in that tiny screen of yours just ain't cool.
~Peace

A wireless connection probably wouldn't work through 2 floors very well and you probably wouldn't be able to connect to live. So your only good option would be to run a Ethernet cable through your house.

Drill a hole, move the router up ONE floor, then wirelessly connect everywhere. Winwin.

if you are talking about Microsoft's official wireless networking adapter, which is this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessnetadapter/default.htm
,then you can either order it online or buy it from a video game store / someplace like Target...And if that isn't what you were talking about, then it looks like you'll have to drill a hole

Wireless is fine and dandy if you want all the sexiness of wireless and don't want the non-sexiness of wired...but wired is simply more reliable. Wireless can have a great deal of interferance, not only from your own activities but of those around you, and depends on more devices and technology in order to function properly. Wired just uses a cord...end of story. XD
I say get a 100 ft cable and inlay it under the edge of the carpets to your unit. No carpets? There are simple covers that make it look like the hole you made for the cable was done professionally, and small holes are easy to fix anyway.
