Anyone else think that Toshiko Sato, the Japanese computer expert, is the height of Japanese stereotypes?
I think the BBC made a mistake by making her the computer expert type, it seems very...boring.
Anyway, anyone else agree with me? xD

She does seem a bit sterotyped.
(I'll write more later once I've finished the draft of my Drama Essay.)

Thank you xd I would have just left it and pretended to forget it, but I reckon the only way I'm going to get a good grade is by getting high marks for this essay and by getting a high effort grade. I'm not that good an actress.
Anyway, Tosh = Torchwood's Otaku. Seriously. I was half expecting her to just stay at home all the time on the computer, and then going to work to do the same, instead of going out and picking up women. I still love her though.

She is a bit of a stereotype...and it is odd, her being a computer expert as well as a pathologist.

I like toshiko, i saw that dr who episode she was in and thought the mix up was odd, but i don't really care about it coz the rest is usually great. So they got one thing wrong not bad compared to what they get right.
I like toshiko coz her character is really shy but you can see that that was probably coz of Owen. In episode greeks bearing gifts, she tels how she used to sleep with owen and for owen to drop her it probably ruined her confidence, especially around him at work.

Anyway, anyone else agree with me? xD Didn't she take over when Suzie died? (The first time) She was also in the Doctor Who episode Aliens of London/World War Three. She was the doctor examining the pig. I feel bad for her, though, in Capt. Jack Harkness, when that one girl was being a jerk because she was Japanese...

Well.. sometimes stereotypes are true. There are Japanese women out there who are sexy semi-lesbian computer experts, I'm sure. Tosh is just one of them. =3

I like Tosh. She is such a closed-off and private person, but we really see her come out of her shell in "Greeks with Gifts". You see how much she likes Owen, and she was just lonely. she wanted the oppertunity of love.
But I think she's great as the computer geek and wouldn't work any other way.

I agree... But I think the worst part is not so much the stereotypical-ness as it is the two-dimensionality of her character.
