A young female teacher with jet black hair tied back into a tight ponytail, and shining brown eyes, stood in front of the freshmen. She cleared her throat to call for attention, and waited for a second or two before the 'assembly area', which is actually the school hall, finally became quiet.

She smiled, speaking into the microphone with an edge of happiness in her cheerful voice, "Hello! How does it feel like to be back in school? Although classes aren't starting until the school officially opens, I would still like to wish you a happy welcome back to school! I'm going to be 1A's form teacher, Miss Ayame. Please don't call me by anything else. I really do not wish to sound old!"

She paused as some of the 1D male students started cheering loudly, out of fun rather than true happiness, and nodded her head, "Hm... It looks like 1D is hyped up for this new school semester! Maybe they deserve more homework and assignments for that great and lovely cheer of theirs? I'll see to that matter after school opening, then!"

A loud groan came from the whole class of 1D as several students from the other classes let out muffled giggles and laughter.

"Now, feel free to walk around the school grounds as you please until I call everyone back." The teacher winked, "However, please stay within this area. I really hope to see some mixing of classes... I'm sure you all would like to meet those from other classes as well! Once I call everyone back though, I would like everyone to keep quiet and await further instructions."

She looked at the students' hopeful faces, and chuckled, "Yes, you may now start your 'free time', and talk to others!"

{You have around 24 to 48 hours to mix around until I give further instructions!}

"Miss Ayame, hmm?" Roka murmured under his breath. He looked up at the sea of students and glanced around anxiously at the familiar faces. Having walked around the school campus several times already or at least wherever it had been open, he had managed to get a good idea of the campus. He had even managed to meet a couple of students from his class.

However, that didn't make him any less nervous about the start of the school year. Crowds and chatter made him quite uneasy, and while he enjoyed a little company every now and then, for the most part he liked to left alone. Who amoung them really inteded to make friends this year? Who intended to do something other than make family connections? No one seemed to have any actual intentions of being friendly in hopes of true friendship. No - everything here was strictly business, even if only behind the scenes.

Sighing, Roka closed his eyes and took out his headphones in an attempt to block out the noise of his surroundings. Absently, he began to wander out of the hall into the school yard, where the grass was green, the sun shone brightly, and one could find peace and quiet, at least for a little while.

With a sigh Miho stood, stretching her arms up over her head and turning toward the exit. 'Thank God that's over. I thought she'd keep talking forever.' A couple of the students milling about her attempted to greet her and make friendly conversation. She simply glared at them; most of them scurried off to find friendlier people, some sending her an unfriendly glance before leaving. Not that she cared really, as long as people left her alone it didn’t really matter what they thought.

Miho shifted uncomfortably, there where too many people here for her comfort. She was starting to feel trapped and closed in on. With a sigh she hurried for the exit and out into the open. Who’s bright had it been to cram all of the freshmen from all of the classes into the school hall? Really, they could have at least found a more open space, or even addressed the classes one at a time. Still grumbling to herself she glanced about for any quiet place that she could hole up in and burry herself in her book.

A small half smile escaped her lips as she spotted a tree, far enough away from the school hall that the students weren’t milling around it, yet close enough that no one could claim she had wandered off too far. She headed off towards the tree, attempting to drag her book out of her bag at the same time.

Noticing a flicker of movement out of the corner of his forest-green eyes, Roka glanced up. A girl, who appeared just as eager to get away from the packs of students as he was, rummaged through her bag, while at the same time was headed straight on a collision course for a tree. The impending disaster hung over her like a forbidding cloud of chaos.

The class 1A freshman smiled musingly. "Hey," he called, hoping to catch the girl's attention before she reached the tree. "Might wanna watch where you're going. It'd be a pity if you were unconsious during Miss Ayame's instructions."

Leaning against a piller he watched her, wondering just what class she was from. He didn't remember seeing her around before.

A giggle escaped a girl's lips, as she looked on in the crowd at the teacher who stood before them all. Her green eyes sparkled eagerly, as she glanced around at the other students, in an attempt to catch sight of anyone she may possibly know. Hhm...Nope. Darnit.

Oh well! It didn't matter! She was in highschool now, and had PLENTY of chances to make new friends! Well, and study, but that could wait until she made a few new acquintances at least, right?

Of course, though it was usually easy for Mitsuko to start up a conversation, she had to FIND someone to converse with first. At the moment, it seemed many of the students were already busy, talking to former acquintances and friends. They would probably find her too great of a burden if she were to interupt them. Maybe someone who was alone.

Filing out of the hall with the others, she found herself in the courtyard, and felt a sort of squeal leave her lips. Ooh, how pretty! It looked like a perfect place for her to study, and sing in her free time. But...what could she do right now?

It was then, Mitsuko caught sight of another girl starting towards a nearby tree. She blinked once, twice, before grinning a bit. Maybe a new girl, who she could introduce herself to?

Mitsuko jogged towards her - it didn't take that long to reach Miho, since the other girl was attempting to pull something out of her bag - and slowed her pace beside her, only to take a step in front of the other girl, and stop abruptly.

"Hello! Are you new here?" She paused, to point to herself. "My name is Takara, Mitsuko. What's yours?"

Already deep in thought about her book and what would happen next she didn’t notice how close she was drawing to the tree and by the time the boy’s voice penetrated her consciousness it was already too late. WHAM Head, meet Tree. Not a very good first impression to Tree. Head, usually it’s best not to smack straight into someone you’re first meeting.

Miho blinked, somehow having the feeling that had she been in a cartoon little birds would be flying around her head. She found that amusing for some reason, after knocking into the tree perhaps she could have really dislodged some birds and they could have been really flying about her head. She blinked, she really must have hit her head a bit to hard. Still attempting to gain control of all her wits she realized that a girl (as well as the boy) had spoken to her before she hit the tree.

Miho turned her head to blink at both of them. Disappointingly she could find nothing the criticize the boy about, he had tried to warn her after all. Her attention turned to the girl, her dislike was almost immediate, cheerful, happy, no cares in the world. She hated people that didn’t realize how idiotic the world really was. “You could have like… stopped me before I ran into the tree. Maybe?” Her voice dripped with sarcasm

As disaster struck, Roka couldn't manage to stifle his snickers. Taking out one of his ear pieces, he shook his head as the girl who had struck the tree appeared to blame the one that had run up to her.

"Are you alright?" He considered walking over, knowing it would be considered impolite to ignore them. Still, when did he ever care about being polite?

Yet, somehow, Roka was approaching the two girls before he had time to think about it. What he was going to say or do when he got there, he didn't know, but he had a strange sensation of guilt, even though it wasn't his fault the girl had not been watching where she was going.

The moment Miho went smack into the tree, one of Mitsuko's hands went up to her mouth in surprise. For a moment, she merely stood and blinked, before frowning. "Owwie! Are you okay?"

Then, as the other girl spoke, Mitsuko's head tilted towards the side. "Whoopsies! I myself didn't see the tree, actually. I guess I was a littttttle distracted?" She shifted, and sighed, looking a tad guilty. "Sorry, ...uh..." Wait, what was this girl's name again? ...Or did she not introduce herself yet? "Anyways," She continued, "A little smack in the head probably won't kill any of your braincells or anything, so you don't have anything to worry about!" Mitsuko grinned. "I'm training to be a doctor. You can trust me on this one."

At the sound of footsteps, and a male's voice, the green-eyed girl turned. After a moment, she grinned cheerily, and waved to the other student furiously. "Hello!"

I decided to call to him. Miss Baker had mentioned him at dinner, and that would do for an introduction. But I didn't call out to him for he gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone--he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious-

Light blue eyes closed strongly in a surprising matter. From the darkness she could hear wailing joy coming from what she thought were several males. It seemed 1D was excited for their first year in high school. She easily assumed the other wealthy and pampered high school students were as eager to start a new year at the lovely Ouran Academy.

Well Wasutori Tarii was not.

She was in Ouran Junior High for one year and she didn't quite fit in too well. No she was no commoner, but she truly acted like one to say the least. Being home schooled for most of her life Ouran Junior High was the first real school she went to. It wasn't quite as enjoyable as she thought it would be. But she would never learn to socialize if she was crammed in her spacious room all day long, with her nose in a physics book.

Where was she, you would ask? Currently on the steps of the school entrance doorway, sitting down with her feet put right down on the cement ground. Her bag was sat right by her feet and her hands were currently occupied with her current book of interest: "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Her old tutor, with whom she was quite friendly with, suggested it to her. She honestly did not have such keen interest in it, as she first believed she would. Then again; it was only the ending of the first chapter.

With a slight groan she suddenly did not have the motivation to finish the last couple paragraphs of the first chapter and simply shut the light blue book to a shut. Blinking a couple times she put the book by her right side and simply began to drift her eyes into the clouds. It was going to be a long three years.

((I'm reading the book right now in class XD Honestly I don't like it, but I wanted her to be reading something, so it was the only thing I could think of xD))

((That's clever, Din. XD I wonder if I should switch to my main account on Shamaki Oro...? I would make a new one for Roka, only I don't have any other e-mail addresses I can use, but rping a boy with a girl's avatar is pretty awkward...))

The cheerful girl's enthusiastic welcome made the corners of Roka's mouth twitch. He didn't want to smile, not in front of them, but it was clearly just that which threatened his lips.

"Hello. I believe we met earlier..." he hesitated a moment as he searched for the right name. "Miss Mitsuko, correct?" She had appeared to be in class 1A as well, or so she had told him the last time they had met.

What? Miho blinked and simply stared at the girl in front of her. Being unaware of the problems in the world was one thing, being cheerful no matter what and not realizing someone was being mean was another all together. It was an interesting defense against some things in the world. She eyed the girl with an odd kind of respect. “Not that it matters if I lose a few brain cells” Her voice sounded a bit rueful.

Miho raised an eyebrow at the boy approaching them “I just smacked my head into the tree and attracted attention when I’d rather people leave me alone. Other than that I’m just fine and dandy, no permanent damage done.” She slumped back against the tree and sank down into a sitting position. She reached down for her bag and realized that, of course, she’d dropped it when she crashed into the tree.

She glanced about in search of in and spotted it lying in the grass a little ways off. With a sigh she stood and gathered it up, flipping through the contents she frowned. Novel, book of poems, another novel, pencil, eraser… where was her sketchbook? Her brow knit, the last thing she wanted was someone finding and looking through that. Completely forgetting the other two humans she glanced about in search of it, her eyes a bit frantic.

It took Mitsuko a few moments of looking at the boy, before she finally recognized him. "Oh! Roka-kun!" She chirped, grinning. "And yup! I'm Mitsuko! But you can drop the 'miss'. Just plain ole' Mitsuko is fine..." She paused, and furrowed her brow. "Or Mitsu...Or Tsuko..."

Then, looking back to Miho, she grinned. "I'm sure you have tons of braincells anyways!" She tapped her own forehead. "I have enough to sustain me, and enough to continue studying to become a doctor. That being said, I have to admit I clonk my head on stuff a lot." Even as she said this, her tone was happy, and she still had the same smile on her face. Um, maybe it really does to damage to braincells? If not, then it certainly was slightly creepy as how cheery Mitsuko was.

She watched with a curious blink, and tilted head as suddenly, Miho was off and searching for something with frantic eyes. "Whatcha looking for?" She too, began to glance around.

Tarii's peripheral vision wandered down to the corner of her eyes and noticed tree people crowded around a tree. Two of them were girls, while another was a male. Now the social butterfly in her urged the teenage girl to go over there and introduce herself. But the current Tarii that dominated her, known as the: 'I don't like talking unless spoken to. It's just my prerogative' made her stay in her current position, watching the clouds pass by slowly.

She only had actual contact once in Ouran. It didn't go quite as planned. Tarii as an individual is very critical about how things should be done. She inherited this critical way through her mother, who was always being judged by the public eye and judgmental about the publics eye. Well what happened?

Tarii merely suggested that one girl's hair should have been more neatly combed that way it wouldn't stick out so much. Apparently Ouran High School girls were very concerned with their looks. The poor girl made a horrified look at Tarii and ran off. Next day she had overheard the rumor spreads that the girl decided to leave Ouran High School to go to their neighboring rich school; Lobelia. Word never got out that Tarii caused the change, so why bring it up?

"Very well then, I'll leave you be," the boy murmured indifferently, turning away from Miho and replacing his ear piece.

He paused in the act of seating himself at a nearby bench, however, as Mitsuko called out to him. He winced as she addressed him by the name only his sisters used. He had preferred to be called Toshiro-san, as he was referred to by his parents and teachers. Then again, he'd probably have to get used to it at this school. It didn't seem likely students were going to be as formal as calling each other by last names.

Besides, it wasn't as if Mitsuko was a totally new aquaintance, and she had given him her first name to use. Maybe it'll be better that way, he pondered thoughtfully. No one will know what my family's business is if they don't know my last name...

He frowned at her a bit at her listing off of names. Surely it wouldn't be right to ask her to call him differently? However, she wouldn't be able to get him to drop too much formality just yet. After all, they hardly knew each other, despite their previous encounter. "Very well then, Miss - I mean, Mitsuko. I'll see you in class, I suppose?"

His gaze shifted to hers before she persistantly went after Miho. Knowing how it was to want to be alone, Roka raised a hand in farewell and, without looking back, continued wandering around campus with his head phones on.
