The is a wonderous blessed thing. It's diamonds painting the blackest void to sparkle and shine while the blessed glowing orb sends down it's gossamer strands to shine and twinkle. Valetin loved the night. In fact it was in this time of day that the lone male could most often be seen. Or rather just his face could be seen. It stood out among his black pelt with the red marking on one arm. It made him look like a ghost in the woods and sometimes he heard whispers of others who were afraid.

But that was all folly. He was no spirit of the night. He was but a wolf, and though he had been prone to attacking others it was out of defense or a need to fill his belly. Valentin had also helped those in need every once in a while. Or at least when he happened open someone in trouble. Just the other day he helped a young pup who had fallen into the river and couldn't swim. But that did not make him noble in anyway. Valentin was not noble. He was far from it. He was just a poor soul wondering through life who happened to make a few pitstops along the way.

Now the white faced one could be seen padding softly through the woods, with the moon's gaze leading him along this path.

Tiamatee wasn't sure she liked the dark... no she was fairly sure she didn't enjoy it. The sky turned black and there were many disturbing sounds you couldn't quite place. Vision was limited, which meant an easier prey for something bigger... a bear perhaps... but normally they didn't attack unprovoked. The problem could have been she worried too much but no... Tiamatee was no worrier. She just had developed a certain fear of darkness... the blackness that surrounded one in the night. Yes, that was most certainly her problem. How to cure it she'd never find out, she just needed to find a place to lie down... a nice tree... or something...

Every chirp, cry or sound made from anything other than herself made her stop for a moment, quickly scanning her surroundings. It seemed like nothing could comfort her. Had she been in daylight she wouldn't have been so jittery.... in her mind all the awful things happened at night. What was she doing? She was a fierce, vicious, wolf, why was she cowering from well... a squirrel? It just made no sense. Letting out a soft growl, Tiamatee stepped towards something... hoping it wasn't big and didn't accept the challenge. Now, she didn't mind challenges just... not in the dark. Groaning, she whispered to herself, "Who am I kidding..? I'm like a cat with a dog up its a**."

Perking her ears forward, she wondered why whatever she'd growled at hadn't moved. It was now getting creepy... why wasn't it responding? Blinking a few times, she tried to get a better glimse of whatever it was... but the blackness hid the little details she wanted to see. Her nose told her lots of things... squirrels, wolf, territory marking, deer, bear... it made no sense... what was wrong with her?

Valentin stopped in his tracks, his nostrils flaring in and out, in and out, as the soft scent of another assualted his sense of smell. Decidely female; not the deep husky smell that was masculine. This could be good or bad. Either the fem was a wanderer like himself, and those types one knew to look out for as they were usually crazed or rapid, or it was some hapless woman who had not enough sense to stay out of the way of coming night. He wasn't sure which he hoped for yet, perhaps the latter. At least then it was a less chance that he himself would be put in harm's way. All the same curiousity got the best of him and he wanted this perverbial question answered. He began padding again, though this time his steps were true and no sound could be heard from them save for the occasional snap of a twig.

Finally he came up on her, a lithe gamma with the color of her pelt like the purest moss. She looked scared, and Valetin knew that look well. It was the look he often saw in others right before he killed them. But no, tonight this poor soul needn't be worried, for with night came Valentin and his business was not killing wayward wolves.

"Good evening mademoiselle," he said pleasantly as he stepped up from the side of her as she stared intently into some unknown direction. "It's come to my attention that you look rather frightened. I do hope it isn't my prescense that has you shooken up?"

Whatever she'd been growling at no longer worried her... for there out of the shadows stepped a wolf. It didn't take much for her to dub him a male, the scent of him said manly, the look of him said manly and well... his voice wasn't all that feminine. She was in trouble... Backing away slowly, Tiamatee flattened two green colored ears and stepped backwards, crushing her tail into a tree. She never did understand how whenever she wanted to take off there was ALWAYS something behind her. Nature hated her, that was her opinion.

It was then he spoke... he spoke of her being frightened and she pondered if it was that obvious. Looking down at the soft dirt beneath her, paws shuffled and nails scritched against soil but after much silent pondering, Tia shook her head. She took a second to remind herself that he probably couldn't see her all that well before a silent sigh escaped her maw, "No... it's more... the dark, you see..." she attempted explaining in the smallest voice possible.

She'd heard stories of lone wolves... some were ruthless killing machines... others were well, lower than omegas. She wasn't quite so sure about this strange wolf... he talked like he was smart... smart wolves normally weren't lowly. Her mind drew blanks, was she in trouble or was she safe? Was he going to attack her or was he going to leave? What was she doing out here anyways? She knew taking that walk would have left her no choice but to drop for the night but nooo... she had to be stupid and continue wandering aimlessly. This was horrible... beyond horrible, whimpering so softly it was barely heard, Tia looked towards the loner, "Uhm... what brings you out here in the dead of night anyways...?" she questioned.

He smiled at that. It made his already ghost like appearance even more ghasty with the moustache like markings upturned in a warm masked smirk. "The night in itself brings me out here," he said jerking his nose up towards the sky. "I find it to be..." he inhaled deeply and then let it out in a soft quaint sigh, "breathtaking. Marvelous the nighttime can be, simply marvelous." He looked back down at her, his dark eyes looking at nothing yet everything all at once. It was a strange sight.

But then again he was an even stranger wolf. He padded closer, his eyes never leaving her form. He didn't approach her at a fast pace nor did he raise his body at her, none of the sort. She was a lady and he was a gentlemen. He should not, and most certainly would not, take advantage of her fear.

"I would ask if you agree, but you've most readily made aware that you don't. One can assume you like the day time. With the sun's rays and warmth that follow it. You're probably out here because you've somehow lost you're way, more then likely wandering down a path that caught you're fancy. You're not wandering what my nature is, will I hurt you? Will I overpower you?" his grin widened, "And now you're wishing you've never came. You long to be nestled in a den or foliage somewhere...." he stopped finally, only a few inches away from her, "Am I correct?"

Taking a second glance at him made her think he was probably right... mostly the only part you could see of him was his face during the night. Or possibly the strange symbol on his leg. Yeeeap, he seemed to fit right in when it was dark... unlike her... she stood out like an ocean in the middle of a desert. Green and white fur blended with grass better than darkness, that was probably her reason for liking the daytime.. and nature altogether. Shaking her head, she turned to stare at him, listening to what he was saying.

As he got closed, she sucked in her breath, her tail pressed between her legs, ears lowered. He was starting to scare her... by the looks of him and by every word he'd said. The male wasn't doing anything threatening, he was even taking his time as he moved closer to her. She just didn't understand why he was suddenly interested in her and not moving along his way to go bother with other things... since he liked the night so much he must have had other things to do, right?

Snapping back to the reality she was in, she was forced to listen to what he was saying to her. If his earlier actions creeped her out.. she was now horrified. He'd somehow managed to read her mind and tell her everything that was going on. Determined to hold her head high and keep out of his nasty trap... whatever it was... she shook her head. "No... well... not exactly..." she explained, well she'd tried to keep her head up... looks like she failed. "I uh... knew where I was going... just... misjudged my timing I suppose," she replied truthfully before whispering, "I should have stopped before it was dark.."

"No m'dear," he said bowing low as he felt the need to impart his wisdom to her. Inwardly telling himself that it was all in her favor. "Your folly was not in the act of leaving or mistimed judgments as there's really nothing in these woods that would attack a wolf such as yourself..." not with the likes of me around, he thought before continuing, "Your folly was in the act of fear itself. That silly little emotion got the best of you. How can one ever face what may come when they've already told themselves they will be defeated?"

Tiamatee had to ponder what he'd said for a moment... she couldn't muster up an answer quickly as it required thought. Two emerald ears twitched as she turned her face to look at him, "Hnn... I suppose you're right... I already thought I was a goner when I saw you and... chances are I would have been because I'd given up before I even spotted you." Feeling slightly better, Tia settled down, sitting near the tree, her tail curling about her body as she watched him curiously. "You're really knowledgeable... y'know that..?" she questioned.

Her ears continued to catch every sound but she was a little less fearful. The wolf seemed like he was going to do her no harm and he didn't seem all that weak. She was safe for the time being... or so she thought.

He stopped a bit, craning his neck slighty in deep thought. "Wise? Oh I assure you I am no more wise then you or anyone else for that matter." he said simply, "I am merely one who observes more readily then others....would you like to take a walk?" he asked suddenly.

Already he turned to look in the direction he had came from. "You see I was on my way to get a midnight snack and if you are feeling a tinge of hunger then perhaps you might join me," he shook his head as he spoke the words, moving his paws in unison as well. Valentin was very expressive when he spoke. "Or....I could follow you to wherever you need to go so that no harm befalls you. What is it that you say...?" he stopped, "It seems I have yet to learn your name, how utterly rude of me."

A grumble in a familiar stomach told Tiamatee that she was indeed... hungry. ..but the idea of running off with a strange wolf to slaughter something wasn't all that appealing. After hearing his second comment, she thought, Oh joy, it's either eat or be eaten... I'm sure he doesn't want to run around and protect some wolf he barely knows. Tia did find him a little strange though, so perhaps he did want to protect her, she didn't know his background or life story so who was she to judge? On another note... as she looked around and realized it wasn't getting brighter anytime soon... it'd be best to have maybe a tiny bit of company. Two wolves had a better chance than one.

Shifting to her feet once again, Tia shook her body, letting her pelt settle safely where it should be. Looking up to the dark sky, and back to the dark loner, she sighed and nodded slowly, "Mm... food sounds nice although... I'm not all that great at hunting in blackness," she admitted. Something that seemed to bother her was that she was always telling the truth, no matter what the consequences. She could groan and grumble, doing everything in her power to make herself lie... but in the end it'd come out as the truth. Of course... she did have talent and was able to work herself around lies, meaning she'd tell them a bit of the truth, the stuff they wanted to hear and leave the rest out.

A more friendly feeling washed over her as he asked her name, smiling with her wolfy grin she replied, "My name's Tiamatee, most just call me Tia since it's a mawfull." Swishing her tail behind her, eyes alert as well as ears and nose, she moved up beside him, "So... I never got your name either..."

"You may leave the hunting up to me as I am quite accostumed to hunting in the blackest of all accursed nights."

His maw held a pleasant smile, one that shouldn't be taken to mean anything other then good will despite the fact that the whole of his face looked like death brought in upon it. "My name? Ah yes, I have yet to speak of it." He stopped padding enough to swish his tail, wondering how to best explain this. "My name is of no real importance, knowing it bears no weight as our paths may not cross again. For the simple purpose of addressing me you may simply refer to me as V'....however," again he bore that strange smirk to his snout. "If our paths do cross again and you unravel the mystery that is me down to my very core then...perhaps I shall tell you my name."

While he spoke, Tia decided he was a shady character... she couldn't quite understand, it was like the more she spoke to him the more mysterious he became. This bothered the femme, in most cases the more you spoke to someone the more you learned about them. Why was it so different with this wolf? Shaking her head slowly, she attempted to bring her mind back to the present.

"Alright V..." she said, feeling quite awkward at calling him a letter in the alphabet, "Well, I guess I'll hope we meet up again.. but for now..." Her voice trailed off as she began wandering ahead someplace. Little did she know she didn't know where she was going. Finally, standing in the middle of a dark wooded area she looked around, her fear beginning to take over once again, "I uh... V..?" she whispered, two ears flattening against a thick skull. She should have known a fear couldn't be broken by a few strong words, that was just wishful thinking. Taking a few steps back, she tried to view her surroundings... it didn't look good... trees, trees and more... trees...

"I am still at your side," He said calmly, though really he was still a few feet away. It was true that the air had change and the woods had shifted into a deathly silence. Usually though most creatures slept at night there were still noises to be heard. Be it the nightsongs of low bugs or be it the shrill cries and screetches of owls, the woods were still alive even at the dead of night.

But at this silence he knew what it meant. And it did nothing more then excite him. "I see our arrival has been noticed... " he said with his maw twisting in amusement. "Just up ahead there is a family of sleeping deer. I believe the low creatures in the trees are arrived we might do something to do them..."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 7:41 pm

Tia wasn't sure what to say or even think at that point... it was like he knew the forest as well as the tip of his own nose. Raising her head, a nose twitched, looking for some kind of familiar scent known to most as... deer. Yes, there were indeed deer up ahead but how he planned to sneak up on them in the dead of night was beyond her grasp. She normally didn't hunt at night... she kept close to others during the day and slept with them at night. Gasping silently she backed up, bumping her side into V as her body attempted to slip back some. She wasn't sure she liked the idea of night hunting but... if he insisted...

Taking a deep breath of the night air, Tiamatee stepped forward, puffing out her chest before whimpering and backing up. Looking up to V, she wondered if she dissapointed him with her cowardly actions. Shaking her head slowly she stared at the ground, digging into soft soil with a lone paw. Two ears flicking backwards, then forwards, made Tia realize it was much more silent than she would have wished it to be. Meaning to keep the silence, Tia turned her head to look at her ally, whispering, "Uhm... how do we go about this...?"

As Tiamatee backed up into him the only thing V' did was smile gently at her. She would learn, they all had to learn more quickly then others in the ways of night hunting and even life itself. No, he was not taken aback by any cowardly action on her part. Fear was a part of ignorance, and Valentin knew that she simply did not know.

"I suppose if you follow my lead then I would be but inclined to teach you," he said, swishing his tail slowly back and forth. He moved forward and then sniffed the ear, rolling his head up as he got a feel for the woods in itself. After he pawed the ground a few times he turned towards Tia and nodded his head.

"Now then you stand there...over by that gnarled root, and if we all ready, we shall commence what I like to call," he smiled a little, "Night music..."
