The boars attack was a few days ago now and after a few days in the hospital wing of the labs, having her leg seen to and puttering about between the empty beds, Colche had finally been allowed to leave. She'd been escorted out through the gates. Saddly she hadn't seen Aubrey at all during her stay in the labs, which made her sad but then again, she was a busy lady. With so many new islanders no wonder really. Making her way from the labs upon a special pear of crutches, she hobbled off towards the beach. She didn't want to be at the villiage any more. It wasn't home any more.
It took much longer than usual for her to get to the beach, usually a very swift run from her duplex, it was a slow, rather painful crutch assisted walk to the pale sands and dancing waves.
Once the beach was beneath her feet she finally threw her crutches to the ground and flumpped in to the sand with a happy sigh and a smile. She would spend a little time here before going to find Jordan at his beach side duplex and thanking him for all he'd done. Baby blue eyes admored the waves as they kissed the beach, her slender tail flickeringback and forth making a little groove in the light sands. She decided in taht moment that she needed to live at the beach. Near the waves, on the sand, breathing in the fresh salty air, and ultimately spending alot fo time alone. Becoming a solitary creature was slowly taking it's toll on Colche, she wasn't sure why she longed to be alone, she longed to roam an area on her own. For now though she would besatisfied with sleeping on the beach, at least until ehr leg was better. She tapped the cast which ran up the lower half of her leg. What a hinderance it was.

Richard had spent the entire night slumped over the beach bar. It was late morning when he had begun to stir. Bright topical sun and a massive hangover wasn't mixing well. Adding in the stiffness caused by sleeping on a barstool and Richard was almost as sore as he had been after his lastest change.
He stumbled along the beach, trying to shield his overly sensitive eyes from the sun. What the hell had made him decided that getting sloshed was a good idea? He hadn't gotten that far gone in decades.

Her dark black nose twitched and she lifted her head in to the air as she scented a some what familiar person the scent was slightly differnt now, mingled with booze and fur, along with..Tenticle? Scrunching her brow together she peered off down the beach spotting the elderly figure in the distance.
Smiling, she tilted ehr head from left to right trying to decipher her noses signals. She had never seen anyone change the way Richard had and her nostrils were very confused. Still, the underlying scent of the kindly old gentleman whom hasd munched chocolate cake with her in the cafeteria was still there so it must be him. "RI..chard!" she called slowly a smile spreading accross her pretty maw. The longing to be alone only seemed to last as long as she was alone. Company would no doubt always be appreciated.

Through the sound of invisable hammers beating upon his skull, Richard thought he heard his name. He stopped and looked up, squinting againist the harsh sun. He could see a figure in the distance but his bleary eyes refused to offer anymore information than that. Ugh. People, voices and noise. Socializing was not what he needed right now.
However this person was position so that he HAD to walk past them to get home. Maybe they could be satified with a quick hello? He could go around but that would require more walking and that wasn't acceptable either. His tail curled with indecision for a momment before continuing toward the figure.

Colche tilted ehr head lightly as the man approached. Her nose wrinkled a little disgustedly, the scent of alcohol, she remembered that scent all too well, the heavy breath of it on her skin. She shook of the shiver which rolled down her spine though and waited quietly while the man approached. He didn't seem to be very well, maybe he was sick?
Maybe he'd just gone through a change? that always made you sick. well maybe she could make the man feel better. Her sweet blue eyes roved over the man,s eh was still trying to decide what he was. Kitty with bits of billy, her mind kept slipping back to that, the creature of mythology lost on her.

As Richard advanced forward the Cheeta girl's features resolved. He flashed a worn smile at her. The exicution was mixed as his eyes were still scrunch up to ward off the bright sun. "Hello Colche," he said softly. He was about to continue past when his eyes fell upon the cast.
He halted and stared at it with a concerned expression.

Colche puurred softly, her ears flattening back against her head as the man looked at her cast, her own eyes went to the white band which surrounded her leg and she shrugged gently, licking hersoft furry lips. "Piggys can be bad" a single simple phrase in answer to his questionable look.
That look was answered with one of her own, a tilt of ehr dark haired head at the man whom she had last seen without a lick of fur skale or tenticle upon him. So much had chanegd in the man. Had she been so isolated from everyone that everything had changed? Sighing softly she shifted in the sand to make ehrself more comfortable and purured at the man. "lots of time since seen richard" a little nod affirmed her statement,s he was surprised he had changed, only purturbed she hadn't seen this man for so long that he was so far gone in his changes. Everything had changed without her even noticing.

"A piggy?" An animal had broken her leg? Or an islander that was turning into a pig? Damn his curiosity, now he'd have to stay in the sun until he heard the whole story. Or his head ache beat him back into blissful obivilion.
He sat his considerably thinner form down next to Colche but he angled him self so he look back at the beach and not at the murderous glimmers. He supported himself with his arms while his smaller hands shielded his eyes from the sun. "It has been a awhile. What have you been doing all this time?"
The tentacles waved drunkenly behind his back.

Colche nodded a little sheepishly, what should she tell Richard? She'd never really, lied, before, she liked to tell it how it was but the incident in ehr duplex, she didn't want to tell anyone about that. "wanted to be wild, big scary piggy" She nodded again, hoping he wouldn't ask her why she wanted to be wild, why she wanted to be alone so much these days. Truth was, she wasn't entirely sure herself.she knew some how that the thing called 'instinct' kept her running, kept her alone, kept her alert and quiet alot of the time, but to her, that really didn't explainit at all.
"Lotsa things, changed lots Richard" she stated another little tilt turning her sweet furry head slightly. She wanted to know what he was becoming, was she allowed to ask that these days? She didn't know anythign about unusual mythical creatures really, run of the mill dragons and of course Unicorns, a princesses best friend, but she had never even imagined a displacer beat let alone seen one in her story books.

Unfortunately for Colche, Richard wasn't in a empathitic mood and didn't detect her unwillingness to talk about being wild. Even if he had been, it probably wouldn't have stopped him anyway. "A big pig. You must mean a boar." He voice was somewhat mumbled as he deciphered her situation. "You wanted to be wild?" Dear god. Richard reeled as if he had been hit. She had been hunting it! This sweet and innocent, if perhaps brain damaged girl was hunting? Richard did not like those implications.
"Yes, I've changed twice now Colche." Her sentance structure was worse than he remembered. His sickly fuzzed tail flickered over the sand behind him. "Two more to go." The tail stopped at the thought, a laid in the sand.

Colche's ears flattened. No she hadn't been hunting that particular pig.. She shook ehr head a little trying to cast away the thoughts of the boar, of sleeping under the stars, which was nice, of killing, which wasn't, she licked ehr soft furred lips and sighed. "Never used to wanna be wild." she frowned and lifted her paws up befroe those sweet, almost sad baby blue eyes. "Just happened, wanted to be like everyone else." she smiles a little, her lips turning in an almost sarcastic smile, a rare, none truthful, forced smile which crossed her face unhappily. "Always wanted, ta be like everybody else." She turned her hands over one at a time, pushing aside her fur where the welt from all hat time ago had formed. There was something theer that stopped ehr from being like everyone else, she just wished she knew what it was. If only she could just, speak like everyone else. She would be happy.
Shaking her ears she let the sadness slip away from her a genuine smile once again returning to her maw as she tried to rid herself of those thoughts of dissapointment. "You pretty fuzzy though" she smiles, still confused about the tenticles but fully realising that Richard was some kind of moggy.

"Wanted to be like everyone else?" Richard repeated dumbly as he studied Colche through bleary eyes. "Why would you want that?" Richard didn't quite comprend what Colche was talking about being like everyone else. That sadness that crossed her face was in stark constrast to the bright and bubbly creature the had met before.
As a journalist in some not so happy places Richard had developed a strong emotional barrier when confronted with awful situations. He told himself that his job was to report these conditions, not change them. When he had broken that rule it had come back to haunt him. Children he had given food to tended to return the next day, bringing their siblings and their friends. Sometimes that had been less than understanding when he had nothing else to give them.
Here it was a different place and a very different situation. After a moments hesitation, he reached over and placed his hand over Colche's furry paw. He wasn't thinking straight enough to peice the puzzle of Colche's word together but he wanted to help her. "You can tell me all about it ya know."

Colche's ears twitched and her long white tipped tail flickered unhappily. Maybe if she told someone? She looked at Richard, a frown creasing her forehead. Could she tell anyone about those times? Could she even think about those things any more? A shiver ran down her spine and the fur on the back of her neck, where it was thicker, stood on end in a defencive manner. She rolled her black blotched shoulders and looked at Richards paw like hand, hiding her own furry fingers and the one rememberance of her past which, despite her changes, hadn't gone away.
She lifted her hand to show Richard the callus on her wrist, a black thickened peice of skin hiden mostly by her fur. "Spent life, Richard, Spent life in chain" She held her hand in the air to demonstrate, her head falling to her chest as she remembered that cold, shattering darkness, the chill of the wall she slept against day and night, sunlight? She didn't even know what it was back then, and light meant that somone was coming.
Lifting her head up she looks at Richard licking her lips, her mind working its way to try and find the words. "Always dark, always, 'cept when the mens come. Light bright, hurts eyes." She paused, she didn't even know why she was telling richard this, it was in the past, she was in a good place now, a nice place, she was home here why did she have to think about the past? She was explaining it, explaining why she wanted to be like everyone else, to speak and laugh and be like everyone else, thats why.
"Chain comes off, arm hurts, tingly..Bed, bad bed, red, red light, always pulled, always dragged, then shouty men." Her tongue felt dry as she sat there telling Richard about this, her ears tight against her head, those sweet baby blue eyes shadowed with memories of the past. "Then it hurts and they shouts, ********, b***h, little slut, b*****d, s**t..." She stopped suddenly her eyes clearing slightly as she looked at the elderly gentleman.
She had met so many faces on the island, so many men whom she acctually trusted, she even liked, loved, respected, trated as brothers, friends, Richard reminded her alot of a grand father figure. Still, the dawning that she was telling her past to a man, a man that could hurt her almost sent her in to flight, she hissed suddenly, though she calmed back down slowly, her heart hammering in her chest. This was home she was safe, those things wern't going to happen, she would never be put in the dark again, never, Aubrey promised... Aubrey promised. She fidgeted a little then, should she even continue? She didn't like this feeling, this feeling of remembering, it hurt, it was frightening. Wrapping her arms around herself she gave a little squeeking noise, the sound of a cheetahs whistle when they were calling for help.

The color drained from Richard's face as his brain assembled what Colche was telling him. He had suspected that Colche had been "rescued" from some horrible place but to hear her speak of it made it real. She wasn't brain damaged at all. Indeed that she was even willing to talk to men after years of abuse spoke volumes of praise for this young woman. The only reason that she appeared simple was that she hadn't been taught. Was the damage permant? Or maybe the changes had repaired the damage?
The logical part of Richard's brain wasn't the only part that was busy. Deep in the emotional centers of his brain there was a new cluster of nerons that had begun to fire when Colche made that squeek of distress. Born of Richard's own long denied desire for children and the invasion of foreign DNA in his brain there was special identification beyond friend and foe, rival or prey. It was that of a cub. Unconiciously Richard had just adopted Colche. The new mental link was embryonic, but had the potential to grow stronger.
He would have hugged Colche right there and then but the little hiss had made him cautious. "Colche its alright okay. Nobody can hurt you now. That was a long time ago." He scooted closer and put a cautious hand on her back, hoping she wouldn't bolt. He left his body open should Colche lean in for a hug but allowing enough distance to pull away should she desire. It was a practiced techique that he hadn't used in a very long time. Cathy had been a very unpredictable woman at times and when she was angry or sullen a show of affection could make the situation worse. So Richard had always tried to allow her an out.
As he draws closer Colche may notice that his scent is no longer that of a man, but isn't femine either.

For a long time she was silent, the cool whisper of a sea breeze slowly pulling her back from the dark, damp, frightening place she had dropped ehrself in to by telling Richard of her past, of her fears, of the whys. The why she was, the way she was. Her body tenced as the man touched her and she loked up at him like he was some sort of demon, something arisen from the deapths to capture hwer soul and drag it off back to that dungeon from which she had arisen.
Her perfect blue eyes cleared though, slowly escaping from that shadowy world. Her ears flattened and her paw like fingers came up over her eyes brushing away her tears, dampening the tawny fur beneath her eyes. "Jus' wanna be like everyone else." She whispers as she shuffles quietly in to Richards arms, burying her short muzzle in to the mans chest.
She found comfort in the elderly gentlmans arms, snuggling close in to his embrace, a single puurr even escaping from her chest, as she took in his scent. He didn't smell like a man at all, for a moment she was silently convinced she was snuggled in to a mothers embrace, holding tightly to somone that would shelter and protect her, though her perfect blue eyes told ehr other wise as she peered upwards, wide, large blue eyes filled with some sort of juvenile appreciation.
"Please..Don't ..to anyone..don't like" she sniffled brokenly, why she had told the silver haired man any way she didn't know, maybe it was simply time to tell someone and he had been there to listen.
