So anybody going to ACTF this year? This year is my first one. I'm so excited! More importantly, is anybody going to Region 3? Because if you are, we may bump into eachother.

I'm not leaving until Wednesday, though. An 8 hour busride with just me and the general manager at the theatre in town. Should be fun.... eek

I don't get to go this year because our college won't pay for us to go since we didn't get a nomination. it's dumb, I know. I can't afford it.
We did Woyzech this year and a girl friend of mine played the doctor...first time they put a girl in the man's role and it made the character AMAZING! she's had Irene Ryan Nominations since her freshman year and didn't get one, it was pretty shitty.

ahhh..drunken shennanegans....the only REAL reason people go to ACTF. The theatre part is an excuse.
(that was all lies, but hopefully humourous.)

I never got to go in college. My school mostly paid for actors to go. It's going to be a lot of fun and that's exciting that it's going to be your first year going.

I've been there a couple of times, but not Region III. Region V.

My Junior year I was nominated for the Irene Ryan Scholarship. Made it to the second round, but that's it. A student-written play was also read there in hopes of becoming a full-length production and performed the next year. I read in that, as well.

My Senior year (a year ago, now) our school's production of "Phedre" was selected to perform at the festival. Not only perform, but we had what was called the "highlight spot:" the last day at the last time. Though we didn't get invited to Kennedy (BTW, the show that was picked was fantastic as well), it was still an honor to be chosen to perform there as we were the only private school to have a show selected of the 9 shows for the festival. Other shows came from North Dakota State Univ. and University of Minnesota-Moorehead and Denver University, etc. etc. And there we were, Doane College, a school that very few people had heard of, with the highlight performance.

OOOOH sounds amazing. I'm highly jealous. Not a lot of people have heard of my college either (it's small and private as well), but we didn't get past prelims. My director likes to take out his frustrations on Toledo university by giving them bad reviews. Purdue got the Region 3 spotlight this year with an AMAZING performance of The Importance of Being Earnest. I was so jealous of their set. They must have the most generous alum.
