It could do with being a little neater around the edges in places - there's still a patch of the original background colour next to one of the ears, for example.

Yeah, that isnt bad for a first time. I dont tend to do big sprites like that, but you've inspired me to. Well done! I vote light the hedgehog is a good name. Now make his nemises, dark the hedgehog. And try not to make it look too like Shadow, even if the words 'shadow' and 'dark' are nearly the same meaning...

the name 'light the hedgehog' is already in use by one of my freinds (http://www.iceruby.com/comics/) , but it's one of those obvious names that anyone would think up, so don't think that i'm accusing you of stealing it.
i'd suggest something different, but all that comes to mind right now is 'zippy'. xx;
