Unless you are trying to get a partisan one-liner off. In which case facts and context just get in the way. " Intelligent Discussion" Angsty Shem Do not buy the media's "Maverick" hype on John McCain. The guy's a standard-issue right-winger to the core. http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/08/mccain-taxes-iraq/ "I'm not, I'm not sure what the point would be. I would certainly ask Americans to serve [in the military], and to make other sacrifices, but I'm not sure I'd want to raise [taxes on the wealthy] just because we're in a war." What our little friend leaves out (but one can find if one digs through the original source) is that it was a response to a question regarding a proposed job creation program for Iraq to the tune of about a billion dollars (I think one can make a convincing argument that Iraq's problems have more to do with them hating one another and the tussle for political power than jobs and make-work programs aren't going to solve a longstanding religious grudge). Kudos to McCain for questioning the efficacy of some of this spending (if I recall correctly, this is one of the reasons why the legislative is supposed to have the power of the purse-checks and balances and all). But why include those pesky details when you can hump a sound bite?

Wow, he's more like the MSM than he realizes. He did exactly what they do: leave out some important facts and only look for what they want to see, and report based on those things.
Context isn't something that the media finds all that important, and apparently niether does Shem.

Think Progress? How about "Think Sneaky," "Think Conivingly," "Think that Liberals Only Read Headlines and Go Around Hyping Up Stories that are Totally Untrue?"
Once upon a time journalists had morals......I'm going to pretend they ever did, actually. Anyways, its enough for them to take the football and run to fuel their agendas. Yup, pretty sickening.

Kazuma Amora-Bunny Hmm... why not post that in that thread, Kazzy? Because it is in another guild, not Extended Discussion. I'm something of a persona non grata in that neighborhood. twisted Hmm. Well, after looking at the majority of people in that guild, I can say without a doubt that I know understand why I see constant "I hate Bush" threads all over the place, and nearly no anti-democratic threads. Most posters from ED-P are liberals, go figure?
'Course, hell. When you point out democratic flaws, such as Nancy Pelosi's anti-corrupt stance (Though she supports it), the common response: "So? Republicans do it too."
So, where do you go with an Intellectual conversation at that point? I just open up CoD2 and have some fun on the Biohazard server.

I -hate- democrats, but Bush is really sucky right now. I have no clue what's going to happen in '08 now. IN not sure if he/she/thing will continue the war. They may get us all killed. Probably if we end up with Clinton.
