Deep cerulean orbs scanned the starry night sky with nothing but a hint of melancholy despair; for once the icy depths were soft and vulnerable instead of hard and cold. A blink, though, and it was gone in an instant, replaced by the hard, cynical shell that she shed for no one. A heavy sigh befell her lips as she shook her head to clear her thoughts, long ebony and ivory-tipped forelocks catching with the wind and tangling around each other. Sukari was bored- that seemed to be happening a lot lately, in fact. Her 'brothers' had friends that they passed the time with... she had 'casual acquaintances', but they were more simply other soquili that she put up with than companions.
A soft snort, an idle scuffing at the dirt with her hooves, and she'd turned to leave the forest clearing, nothing but the dim moonlight illuminating her path as she walked. It would always be like this, wouldn't it? Finding her own way, never to depend on anyone else. She liked it that way... or so she claimed.

"WOAH. MAKE WAY COMING THROUGH." Orion skidded towards the mare at a dangerous speed, his braids flying carelessly in the wind as he attempted to stop. He swerved to the left to avoid slamming himself into the mare, his hooves digging themselves into the ground to stop. 'Crap~' he thought as he steadily slowed, missing the mare but coming closer to a nearby tree. With a loud crash, he ran headfirst into the innocent bystander (tree), landing a heap of limbs and hair at the base. "Owe."

Blinking in silent confusion and a bit of amusement, the grey mare watched the wind stallion skid past her as she calmly sidestepped him, snickering a bit as he hit the tree. Now, a nice mare might have approached him and asked if he was all right, but Kari was, by no means, a nice mare. Still, she wasn't heartless, so she did approach him to examine the damage he had done- to himself and the tree. Upon seeing no blood, she concluded that he was fine, although he probably would have a nasty headache. "Do I even want to know what you were doing?"

Orion blinked a few times, and calculated the possibilities of permanent brain damange. 'Whatever,' he thought dismissively. 'Foxtrot would probably say something like I can't get any stupidier. The meanie head.'
He looked up in the direction of the voice, taking a moment to realize that the mare was saying. 'Wow, that crash must have really knocked me out of it.' He started to stand up to answer, only to get his legs crossed and realize his wing probably isn't suppose to bend that way. He gave them a shake, pleased to note that while they were bent at a incredibly unatural angle, they were still attached and moving. 'That's a good sign.'
He tilted his head up to take sight of the mare he almost hit. He gave a sheepish grin, "Uhh, maybe?" He laughed a bit to himself. "I need to work on the breaks a bit more. Who knew landings could be such a killer?"

Sukari blinked. And blinked again. After the third blink, a mysterious twitch started to pull at the corners of her mouth, and a moment later she burst into laughter. Not snickers, this time, but pure, unbridled laughter. It was strange, having laughed and smiled so little in her life, and being this amused by a total stranger.
After her laughter had died down to the occasional chuckle, she lowered her head to examine his oddly-bent wing, one eyebrow raised as she nosed at the feathered appendage. It looked like it hurt. Normally, she wouldn't care in the least, claiming it his own fault for being so careless, but he had, whether he knew it or not or meant to or not, brought her joy for the first time in a very long time. "It looks broken. Does it hurt?"

Orion tiltled his head at the sound of the mare's laughter and blinked. 'What did I do?' he thought in bewilderment, his clueless expression emphasized by his ungraceful position on the ground.
His wing flickered at her touch and he bent his head back to give it a look. He gave it another deliberate shake, a futile attempt to right itself. "Hm, not really." He gave it another twitch, more forceful then the last for emphasis. "But~" he said, unfazed by his highly demented looking wing now, "That probably isn't good either considering the thing looks like it got run over by a herd of buffalo." Mentally he pictured it in head, 'I wonder how that would work.' He imagined himself lying on his side, his wing spread out while a stampeding herd of buffalo ran over just one wing. "Well that's a weird mental image."

She couldn't resist another quiet snicker at the last comment, the look on his face adding to the hilarity of the situation. Still snickering lightly to herself, she bent her knees to place her nose beneath his neck, helping him stand with a gentle push while she straightened and tried to wipe the smile from her normally harsh features. As hard as she tried, a grin still teased at the corners of her mouth, cerulean irises sparkling with unmistakable mirth. It was an odd feeling, but not one Sukari would complain about. "What exactly prompted this... crash? Are you just that bad at landing?"

Orion pushed himself up from the ground with the mare's help. He gave his legs a quick stretch to make sure they were fine. Satisfied, he ruffled his wings playfully. "Well~" he started, ducking his head slightly in embarrassment. "I was just trying to practice my flying. My older bro always teases me about how I can't fly in a straight line so I was trying to get better."
He grinned sheepishly. "I got a bit carried away up there and started going a bit too fast so I figured I'd land since I'm kinda sorta not sure how to slow down while I'm in the air." His braids framed his face as he couldn't keep a smile off his face as he ducked his head sheepishly. "So~ Down I went and CRASH." He rolled his eyes to the side as he recounted what he said mentally, wondering if he forgot anything. "Yep, and that's pretty much it. Tried to land, missed, and got nicely acquainted with this lovely tree right here. Fun stuff, I tell ya."
