The other day one of my friends asked me where I got my 6g claws that I'm wearing, and I told her I'd gotten them from Hot Topic. I ended up listning to some long a** rant about how one of her friends had went there to buy 00g plugs, and they were smaller than the ones my friend was wearing, which she'd bought from some website.

Anyone ever have problems with sizing there?

Not really; I have never experienced the humongo gauge difference that so many people seem to complain about. But then again, I don't buy double flare, which I suspect might be the ones that most people are refering to.

I've used Hot Topic jewelry for the majority of my time stretching. I've ordered online for my latest pair, and the difference between them and Hot Topic jewelry was nil.

Alright, 'cause that's what I've been using for my gauging, and I haven't noticed too much difference. Thanks.

The only problem I've had with them is the quality of some of the pieces they carry. I went to buy some cool swirly hoop things in 10ga, but when the guy got them out of the case for me to see, all along the inside was rough edges where it looked like it had been welded together. Not to mention that's the part that would have gone through (and sliced up) the piercing. (Then he tried to convince me that was ok, but that's a different story).

So just be careful about what you buy there, and check the jewelry over.

Oh and I should add the size difference may be because of the material being used. Such as, glass isn't going to be as exact as metal.

Oh gods.

Think about it this way: Wal-Mart and Hot-Topic sell the same jewelry.
Really, if you look on their packaging, does it even say 316 steel? No.
Because it's s**t metal forced on the uninformed because they think a store like Hot Topic is the only place they're going to find "sweet gauges."

UGH.

(sorry if I offended you, but s**t, if you're going to get jewelry, don't go to the mallgoth emporium and expect quality. go to a good piercer or order online.)

Personally, I don't care if it is surgical. I mostly buy acrylic from there anyways. And recently I've bought glass from them.

My lobes are really tough, so I don't mind stretching with Hot Topic stuff. All I've done was keep them clean, and I've never had an infection and they have healed very nicely.

However, on piercings that I stretch that are not on my lobes, they tend to be a bit more picky. But once they are healed, I don't mind putting in a product from Hot Topic.

Also, Hot Topic near by has been selling H2Ocean. So, at the very least, they are selling some quality healing products.

The only reason I've been going there is because my mother refuses to buy s**t for me online, but I'm having a friend do it for me. Everything I've bought from Hot Topic has been acrylic, except for my 12g CBRs. I'm planning on using online stores to stretch down to 1/2", since they don't even sell sizes like that there.

Don't buy "titanium" from hot topic.

Ive actually found that California based Hot Topics either have no jewlery, or they have mid quality jewlery.

But I don't think my opinion is valid, because I get my jewlery from Tribal Weaver, and my parlor. I love being an apprentice. blaugh

I've only bought acrylics, but why is that?

I think I'd only trust Kaos, and TOTM (Tears of the Moon) from Hottopic anymore. I haven't had problems with TOTM, though I'm not sure the exact quality of them.

But speaking of things not to buy, I saw "super light aluminum" plugs. I just stared. I guess whoever makes those forgot that aluminum helps in the development of alzheimer's.
