Malume stepped lightly around a boulder, her wings fluttering lightly. She stopped dead in her tracks, her head lowering. Her warm red gaze watched the snail cross her path. There she stood for a minute or two, letting the snail have the road as it made its way to its destination. She stared at it until it was deep into the leaves cluttered along the side of the beaten path. She stepped carefully over the slime trail, her head raising. She continued this careful maneuvering, the black and white curls of her mane and tail flowing in the breeze.
She heaved a great sigh; her family was probably off tormenting someone, trying to make the world just a little worse. She did not agree, but then... they were her family.
Still, was it not wrong? Did poor little Nequus deserve to be tricked into giving up their own...
She stared at the spider that had landed on her nose, going slightly cross-eyed. The strand of webbing it had traveled down on was still visible.
She let out a yelp, and jumped a few feet in the air. She leaped and twirled in a frenzied dance, her hooves kicking up dust as she flailed and tried to rid herself of the spider.

Storm had managed to escape from her life for the time being. Of course, she was always doing that, running off in search of something more adventerous than her lowly tree. What she felt by it, was that she'd come away from all the bothersome events that she revolved around. In other words, the Nequus she loathed, and even those she had a slight liking towards, seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth. It was of no concern to her. A nice bit of peace and quiet was all she wanted sometimes.
Unfortunately, it seemed today she wasn't going to get that, for a yelp came tumbling across the calm sky right into her ears. Storm frowned, her ears flicking back to her skull. There were people about, and downwind, no doubt, for she hadn't smelled them coming. In any case, she deemed it necessary to go investigate.
Shifting her legs out from underneath her she thrust upwards with powerful hind limbs and was soon onto her feet. A good shake down was all that was necessary to complete her personal higene, and off she went, trotting energetically with slightly swayed back ears.
It didn't take her too long to spot the girl, she was still trying to rid whatever plagued her when Storm arrived. She'd grown more adept as a seer in her many days, but it wouldn't have required any prying to find out what ailed the horse. It was what she thought about, on the surface, a spider. Just a small, insignificant creature. One like there was plastered all over the hide of Velg'larn.
"Some daughter of Attia you are," she muttered.

Malume froze, something greater than a spider now the threat. The spider took this opportunity to escape gratefully, shooting off a strand and scrambling up it to escape from the crazed she-demon. Malume's first instinct was to faint, though she knew that doing so would only worsen matters. Though she needed not see the mare to know it was Storm, her gaze swiveled to fix on her.
Her mind briefly registered conversation, though Malume did not understand that she had been spoken to until a while later. "Erm... uh..." She was at a loss for words. "... Ehe..."
She lowered her hooves and stood silently on the ground, her gaze wandering about to anything other than Storm. "Hello." She mumbled, knowing full well that her parents would be mad at her for running into Storm... if they did not consider it due punishment for her slightly weak-minded ways.

She was simply dumbstruck. Referring of course to Malume, and not Storm herself. The mare was in full control of her emotions and shock - not that there was any of that sort. This female in front of her, however, seemed to be struggling to grasp any sort of sanity, as though Storm's leering presence wiped away any train of thought from the mind of the filly at all.
Storm couldn't say there was anything wrong with this, it had been so long since anything had quaked at her in fear, but she still found herself frowning. Perhaps it was because she expected something a little more from the brood. Not to say she wanted the evil nature that possessed the parents, but something a little more. . . bold, would have been appreciated.
She snorted, shaking her head. She supposed some Nequus were more pathetic, and even this was an approvement over her would be siblings, wherever the two might be. It didn't much matter to her.
"Hello, indeed," she answered, her lips curling into a smile. "I doubt they'll be mad," she answered the girl, for it is what they thought. "Rather upset you didn't do something about it." Her ears flicked back and then forwards once more. "But we wouldn't want any trouble, would we?" She raised an eyebrow at the youth, her maw still showing signs of that inbittered smile.

Malume stared, her eyes taking on the 'deer in headlights' look they had come to favor.
Growing up in a family where evil lurked in every heart (though not really lurked, more of shouted its presence to anyone who came within hearing distance) would make any Nequus somewhat quirky. Malume had a choice: either go along with what her parents and siblings had come to accept as the only worthy way of living, or not. Any sane Nequus would have chosen the first, as it left a lot less room for broken bones and stares that said "You are no daughter of mine; you are weak. You do not hate humans!" This particular mare had chosen the later... and had paid the price. This price came not in jewels or apples, rather in her mind. She was so mixed up (My family does it, so it's right. But it's wrong! No, Mom says it's good. But it's not good!) that anything would frighten her. How should she react? Would that way of reacting be good or bad? What was good or bad?
"Er... No trouble. Yes." She shifted from foot to foot absentmindedly, though as soon as she realized she had moved she stopped again. Her eyes rolled about, the whites showing, then finally fixed on Storm. The red of the iris, normally so vibrant and shiny, now seemed somewhat faded... almost pink. As though Malume's temperment did not even deserve a color that was synonomous with blood.

Clearly there was little to be learned here. Storm narrowed her eyes at the horse. Someone so confused to hardly be read, seer or not, and certainly not used. They'd be lucky to walk straight without falling over their own legs. Daughter of Attia or not, it was clear that this girl was either so adept at faking fear that she deserved to skate by, or she was clearly pathetic and of no worry to Storm.
It brought the bright smile back to her face, and she flicked her tail a bit as she pondered various approaching methods. After a time of silence she decided it easier not to engage in conversation. Obviously this whole event was a waste of her time.
"Well, nice meeting you," she said with a wink that was clearly practiced, and turned sharply on her hind, heading in whatever direction meant away. She certainly wasn't going back to where she had been. With a day such as this, and a kind notion that perhaps Attia would meet her demise through their own daughter, she was in high spirits.

Malume held her breath as Storm winked and turned, looking for the first time at a Nequus' rump with a feeling of relief. A bit of the reddish glow of her eyes were continuing, even her blackened coat seemed to become more lustrous.
That gaze fell naturally to the side as she let a whuff of breath out. Another-
The spider that had previously attempted to climb into her nose and devour her brain (of course, the spider had only wanted to share in the warmth her body permitted) was weaving an intricate web between a blade of long grass and the trunk of a tree. She supressed a shudder, and cast a quick glance to Storm.
She had made it through without any awkward situations, no questions as to her feelings regarding the various species that inhabbited the realm. Malume didn't like it when others tried to learn her secrets, or even get to know her. She felt more at ease when alone.
Another meeting gone by without conflict.
