That fish was sold to me as a Kribensis Cichlid, and from all the behavior descriptions and photographs I've seen it does not appear to be a Kribensis. If anyone knows what kind of fish it is that'd be awesome.
The same store also sold me a Chocolate Chip Spiny Pleco valued at $49.99 as a common Trinidad for $6.99

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you, because it has egg spots on the a**l fin, which the Venustus does not, which leads me to believe it's some kind of Zebra or Peacock. Colors are also a little off.

I just got into cichlids so i cant help, sorry.

but the same thing happened to me, I went and bought 4 yellow labs to cycle my 55g malawi tank, but 1 isnt a yellow lab. its just all yellow without the black on its fins.

I'm waiting to see if it grows and gets any colors, it could be a yellow tail aci or something i've never seen lol

That looks like some kind of haplochromis, but I'm stumped on exactly which kind... o.o

i know for a fact its not a lrib becuse i have a mated pair and they dont look a thing loke that pic
