I was asking my teacher about the old German script, which I always heard caled 'fractor'. She had no idea what I was talking about until I showed her a page printed in it, but she still didn't connect it to the term fractor.
Should I be worried if she doesn't know the proper terms for things like that? She spent a year or two of high school in Germany, so I assume she's fluent, but it concerns me that she's not familiar with that, and makes me wonder what else she might not know.

Well, I believe you have a reason to be worried. If it was in high school it would have been awhile before she began teaching it, so perhaps she lost her fluency? On the other hand, you can't expect her to be perfect, so you should decide. That didn't help you much, did it? well that's my thinking about that.

Fraktur is one of like, three names for the type face I believe (Or one of three similar sorts of typefaces). I don't think you should be surprised she doesn't know it. It's rather unreadable, not really used at all, and I don't think many people are even exposed to it.

Okay, thanks. I have no doubt that her German is infinately better than mine, but occasionally she says something that makes me wonder exactly how fluent she is or isn't.

There've just been a few things where it seems like she doesn't have the subtleties of the language.
Also, there were a couple of instances where I used a word she claimed wasn't real or wasn't correct, and when I showed it to her in a dictionary, she brushed it aside as being a purely technical term.
Mostly little things like that.
