Nogetsu Takimara vs. Avan Doleres Snow

FIGHT!
PostPosted: Fri Jan 12, 2007 11:41 pm

"I hope this battle will be more enjoyable then the last..." mutters the young man as he enters the arena...
Streaching his arms over his head he cracks his shoulders before rubbing them in turn, turning his eyes over the grounds he looks for his new opponent...

A distinct silence filled the arena like fog suddenly. No sound. No chirps. Not even the breadth of wind that had occasionally filled the area with its soft melodic breath.

Only that odd, deathly silence.

Spectators surveying the arena muttered to themselves in whispers and wonders, the mere question being obvious -- where's the opponent? And why is the fight taking so long?
The answer was then given finally as a brief wind fluttered behind Takimara, followed by the sound of a light shuffle of clothings which foretold another presence now within the arena.

A cloaked man, his red hair hidden underneath his hood now appeared, the weapons dangling lightly from both hips of his.

"......"

Without a statement to his opponent now, the cloaked figure took a side ready stance against Takimara, one hand holding the sheath of his katana, the other ready to draw it in a quick-draw fashion.

And then he spoke;

"I, Snow, shall be your opponent for today."

The young man begins to chuckle, starting of low but rising higher with each breath...
Without turn to meet his opponent, "You kept me waiting..." he mutters, "Now why would you go do that, giving me an advantage and all that..."

With a twist of his left wrist he draws a Wakizashi suddenly from under his cloak holding it to the side ever so lightly. The Black steel of the blade seemed to swallow all light creating an Illusionary void of Darkness (A simple trick of the mind).
Twisting his body, his free right hand spun around fast as he pounced at his opponent with such speed that even quick draw would leave the Katana Halfway drawn, his hand clamping down on the hilt of Snow's Katana, holding it in place...

"Quick draw is only handy if I no know you going to do it, child..." he mutters with a smile as he flick his Wakizashi over in his left so that the blade ran along his forearm, as his right foot slid between his opponents legs, hooking under the left leg...

Unexpected countermeasures were supposed to be expected in combat, and Snow did not display any signs of surprise as he acknowledges the quick response. In that instant he has already categorized some of Takimara's style, and quickly responded with the same speed that Takimara used in that very moment.

"Quick draw is handy if the opponent is at a decent distance," Snow began, releasing his right hand from the hilt and immediately grabbing hold of Takimara's left elbow, gripping on it tightly. His left hand - instead of holding onto the sheath itself, grabbed Takmiara's right wrist tightly, not letting go.

"But against an opponent, do not underestimate what the opponent has in his disposal."

Ice began to form where Snow is grabbing, freezing the flesh and muscles underneath the opponent's clothings as he shifted his weight to his right side, twisting his torso and breaking the invasion between his own legs by keeping his left side aimed towards Takimara's chest. By twisting his left heel to position itself to the left of Takimara's position, Snow quickly then released hold on Takimara's right wrist, letting his left hand slide up the opponent's elbow and arms as more ice formed where he had touched, immobilizing the joints and muscles as the hard form of ice quickly hampered movement for Takimara's hands and elbows.

Now in a left side stance, with Snow's right hand freezing up Takimara's left elbow which held the Wakizashi - the left immobilizing the muscles on the opponent's right side with thick contents of ice....

There was enough time for the opponent to respond a bit, but Snow won't allow Takimara to get space for breathing if he retaliates.

"Well now," mutters the smile from under the hood as Snows grip drops the temp a bit... "Is this what you want to do, Too bad that its all in your head..."

The face retracts deeper into the hood disappearing into the darkness, the arms slip though Snow's grip like snakes falling into the sleeves of his Cloak before the body itself fades into darkness. On the second blink reality shifts as the young man reappears in front of Snow...

"Mind Shadow, everything was what you thought to be was all of the minds choosing." he mutters facing Snow, he shifts the Dark blade from over his eyes down to the side, rolling the steel around his arm and along it. ((See profile, Sword Skills))

On the third blink Snows body regains its senses his hand still holding the hilt of his Katana readied fro Quick Draw...

"Now then Shall we go again for real this time..."

Stepping forward his body shifts focus around him before leaving a light cloud of dust rising from where he stood...

The eyes narrowed as the illusion - or hallucination - shattered through his very eyes, bringing him back to reality. He blinked, very well alert to the fact that he's been caught off guard by this simple tacit of mind manipulation. As if the matter isn't worse than it can be, Snow remained quiet, still holding himself in the quick draw without movement.

If the opponent can manipulate the mind to hallucinate...

He unsheathed the katana quickly, holding it horizontally with the sharpness of the blade aimed at Takimara. Holding it parallel, the tip of the blade was instead aimed towards Snow's left position, held as if in a defensive stance.

His left hand continued to hold onto the sheath, his stance held as if ready to dash; right leg facing the opponent, the left held close to his center weight to heighten mobility and reaction time.

Snow took a soft intake of breath, the moisture in the air beginning to thicken as the temperature again dropped below freezing, creating myriads of reflecting ice droplets floating in midair. Limiting the ice droplets to only the environment surrounding his body, the energy it required was dramatically miniscule, almost laughable, compared to the process of freezing the entire arena, which would exhaust his stamina immensely.

But keeping it occupied in a small field around himself only, Snow can use it to his own will without any given problems regardless of the situation.

As it has about three alternate uses for its deployment.

Snow avoided eye contact with Takimara's body and weapons. For all he knows, Takimara can cast the hallucination through any limb or joints on his body, causing Snow to fall into another one of those petty tricks Takimara used to fool him....

"Well now, its not often I meet an Frozen Samurai..." he mutters aloud at the temp change around Snow "and its less often I get to face them..."
With a slight chuckle his body disappears from sight as Ground Control pushes he backwards with a quick movement, reappearing a good distance from Snow. Reaching under his cloak he draws a second blade, this one reflecting the light greatly as its Silver-Alloyed Steel greets the sun...

"Don't worry child, My Onyx blade only activates on its Unsheathe Step..." he calls out with a smile. Twisting both blades over and around his wrists he lines them along the arm leaving the edge resting outwards, his arms now act like scissors reversed...

His body shifts and disappears as GC pushes him forward towards snow with great speed, leaving what seemed to be an after image were he stood. His body reappearing feet away from Snow, his arms crossed over each other the blades locked in a scissor motion. As he reached Snow he began to draw the blades together, his wrists twitched ready to adjust the direction and height at anytime...

Ground Control - Using the force of speed gathered under ones feet, you can shift places to any area in a straight line to you. Weakness: Can't go through soilds, change directions mid movement and Feet must be touching the ground at start.

"......."

The glistening icy field surrounding Snow suddenly expanded to twice its initial area. More droplets of water froze around the field as it sparkled brightly under the sun's reflection, creating a dazzling display of light, while also creating an irritation to anyone that looked at the field directly or indirectly through perceptive means.

But what Takimara didn't pay attention to, is that when he came into contact with the field that Snow had deployed a moment ago around himself, the reflecting ice droplets wasn't just for show. It was a method of defense, which when touched through almost any means, the droplets which comes into contact with the object first expands and immediately forms itself to lethal icicles, piercing through any flesh and armor with the integrity of a dangerously sharp needle.

Depending on the speed for damage in which the enemy came in contact with the field, it's a good measures against those who uses speed or quickness to outflank or outmaneuver the opponent. If the opponent came in contact to the field with the left shoulder first, then the left shoulder would be the part where it would be pierced the most. If the opponent came into contact with his right hand first, then the right hand would be the part where it would be pierced the most. Left hand first, left hand pierced. So on and so forth, in a collateral damage afterwards.

Already having his blade in a parallel, defensive stance when Takimara charged with Ground Control, all Snow had to do by then was to either bring the katana down at Takimara's head or neck, depending on the situation. If the scissor attack is thus aimed lower or higher, Snow can use his footings to retreat a step back and/or just aim his katana elsewhere to block the motion prematurely before it strikes.

The left hand would still be holding the sheath of his katana, and it would provide another means of attack/defense judging on the situation.

As to how Snow can detect Takimara's Ground Control before it strikes him...
Snow has already told him a post ago, that the field serves about three purposes when deployed.

One is defense, creating a field of lethal icy shards for example.
One is detection, where when something comes into contact with it, it would alert Snow immediately before the command is executed.
And the last one....

Well, there is no need to tell the opponent, as it has not been activated for now.

'Ice Needles, huh, well thats the best I can describe them' he mutters to himself as the pain spreads through his body as he drops his blades moving to his left slightly as Snow moved backwards adjusting his Katana to his own movements. His right blade runs along the Katana to its hilt holding it back from any tight movements, with his left he twisted it over his own arm stabbing at the Katana hand in an attempt to disarm his opponent...

The wounds that the ice had made had left small and large holes and scratches over his face, hands and body but as he moved something changed in the wounds, they began to fade and close over as his body began to Regen, even the inner parts of his body reformed, even organs like Heart, Kidney and lungs. All after a second of damage, even the collective damage at major points of his body were healing...

Judging from Takimara's response, reaction, and finally result, Snow complied in accordance to the current situation at hand. As the opponent moved slightly to the left, Snow too shifted to the left, using the legs to push his body sideways in an arc, making sure to keep the same distance away from Takimara's blades, if not position too.

His eyes looked with dismay at Takimara's wounds, noting the Regen with distaste.

As Takimara's left blade went down for a stab at Snow's right hand, Snow took a step back, grabbing Takimara's right wrist, giving a violent tug at the direction where the opponent's body is moving to. His katana was then twisted backwards so Takimara's right blade would have suddenly no resisting force to it at all, and Snow's hilt would then be facing the opponent's chest during the motion. Snow continued the tug at Takimara's right wrist, using the enemy's momentum as his catalyst - drawing a big circle clockwise around his own position.

It would allow Snow to dodge the stab, and would off-balance the opponent enough for Snow to then use his hilt to give a strong strike right at Takimara's liver/lung regions, a force strong enough to drive the air out of the opponent's lungs for a small second or two.

But that's not all. With his ability to create the ice field around his entire body, Snow can also create ice to materialize wherever he wants within his vicinity. And it would right now be on the hilt-- a sudden sharp icicle attached to the hilt's end, being driven right into Takimara's region if successful.

In the case that the move might be countered, there is a reason why Snow purposefully put himself at Takimara's right side -- a range too close to strike effectively, and not enough space for Takimara to fully stab nor slash, considering the awkward positioning for that split moment.

It will depend on the counter.

'Well this was different...' he thought as he twisted his own right arm in Snow's grip. The covering along his arm allowed him to twist slightly, gently braking the grip enough...

The left blade twisted in his hand, sweeping across his own chest quickly, the flat of the blade connecting with the Ice breaking it slightly leaving it with a dulled tip rather then sharp point. His blade twisted again now stopping the hilt short, the arm itself moving along the blade added a guard against the thrust...

Pulling his right hand free he slides his footing to a crouch, using the motion to slip himself free and under Snow's blade, the left adjusting with the movement by sliding around and under the hilt to the blade, holding it still...
With a sweep of his arm he pulls his Right blade down away from the grapple then thrust it upwards to his opponents exposed arm pit...

((I'm assuming that your back is facing me when you made the thrust with your right blade.))

It was his positioning that gave him the momentary advantage in defense. The chest was initially exposed and an inviting target, but Snow, having kept himself dangerously close to Takimara's blade, saw that as no immediate threat.

It was no surprise that Takimara broke free from his grip, kneeling down and preparing a strike back against Snow's exposed arm pit on the right. But then, Takimara is underestimating his opponent a bit.

Having nothing to block his freed left side, Snow then took another step in a left arc, shifting his alignment so that as Takimara's right blade went up for a thrust, all it did was knick at the cloth near the outside shoulder, scratching it off and leaving a tear in the resulting wake.

His katana, with the thrust hampered by Takimara's left blade, was then pulled back in a right horizontal slash away from the opponent. Using the momentum built up from the reverse pull - and with Takimara's right blade thrust in the now empty spot where Snow's arm pit once occupied - Snow reached again with his left hand and grabbed Takimara's wrist that held the Right blade, giving a violent slash upwards at Takimara's elbow, intending to dismember the limb.

With his right katana.

Adding with the potential momentum converting into a force, the slash would be stronger than intended, able to cleanly cut off the arm if there were no armor.

((My bad on any Poor RP style at the moment, need to readjust...))

Everything moved in slow motion before his eyes, this Battle had the energy he had lost after many years, finally a battle worth his true skill...

His opponents movements left his blade hanging in his hand as again he was grappled, but on the right wrist this time. Now he released his blade, its fall stopped only by the ground itself, leaving the blade quivering slightly, his empty hand twisted over, the fingers wrapping itself around Snow's own wrist...

Under his feet an energy filled the space as he pushed downwards, Ground Control was not only good for moving around the field but in other ways too. The push lifted him up and over the katana quickly, faster then a normal jump, as he inverted himself vertical over Snow's arm...

His left blade twisted in his hand as he slid it to its sheath under the cloak as he rose, before moving his hand down again grabbing hold of the Forearm of Snow's left just below the wrist. With two fingers he found the points needed to release his opponent's grip again...

Reaching the height of his resisted rise, he began to fall again, using his weight to tilt sidewards enough to fall to Snow's left. As his feet touched the ground he twisted himself down into another crouch, still holding onto the arm, pulling quickly with the strength in his right arm (Meaning that he is facing towards Snow) he released his left and lifting his elbow, intending to strike Snow's Ribs...

Dazzling. But not enough to daze Snow from his course of action. Even so, seeing that Takimara was forced to use his ability gave Snow a small grin, as the opponent isn't as dexturous as he had thought initially.

But there was no reason to complain, since the match is, after all, intended for arcane and physical might in comparison.

Besides -- if Takimara can play with his abilities, then Snow can too with his own.

Takimara had dodged his second strike. Well played and executed for the opponent. But bear in mind, that even if his left side is caught under his grasp, Snow still has the katana in his grip. With the lethal edge already close to his own chest, all Snow had to do to fend off this turn of events when Takimara flipped over his arm, and right into his exposed chest...

Was to convert his weight down, bringing the katana from the upward slash of the second strike, to deliver a combo strike right on Takimara's head, intending to slash all the way down to slice the opponent in half.

If possible, that is.

So just as Takimara pulled Snow close to deliver a hard elbow strike on Snow's ribs, Snow can easily deliver a hard strike on Takimara's head downwards, letting Takimara choose dangerously the options which are the issue.

To be dissected in half...
Or to fend off the blow, leaving Snow to deliver another strike?

There is also the chance that Takimara may encounter Snow's defensive mechanism against harsh blows to his body,
But it, in the end, depends on whether the blow will land or not.
