During the night you might here sort of a screeching noise outside. Those are Cicadas. Cicadas only come out of the ground every 12 years for 4 years. They live underground during colder times. If they come out during the day or while it is too cold, they will die. They dig a hole, come out of the ground, climb up the nearest tree, get out of their shell, dry their colourful wings, and fly down the tree and back underground. This whole process takes about 6 to 10 hours! I've seen thhe whole thing happen right in front of my eyes! The only thing keeping me awake was my fascination and love for the insects.
