Ice wrapped an arm around Kitsu's shoulders, leading the poor girl back to the sculpting. "It's okay, baby, but you'll have to tell me exactly what happened when we get home, okay?" She asked, reaching up to wipe a tear away from Kitsu's cheeks.
Oblivion had the chainsaw in her mouth, and was carrying it around with a hint of pride, her eyes glowing bright blue in as close to pure joy as she could get. Walter chattered nonesense to her for a while as he looked around for Quixana. He had a tale to tell!

As if desire dictated reality, it took all of about five minutes before Quixana, Courage, and Cressida rounded a corner. The little boy immediately spotted his friend and waved vigorously, red mitten bright and eye-catching. "Walter! Mommy, there's Walter."
"Yes, darling, I see him." Reaching down to take his hand, Cressida laughed. "Let's run, okay?"
"Yes!" With permission given, Quixana took off with her pretending to drag along behind, trotting and awkward, his legs too short yet for proper running. Courage loped easily along beside her Forgotten, reaching the others first and turning to purr an encouragement. Quixana's cheeks were flushed pink by the time he arrived as well but his eyes were almost as bright as his smile. "Hi."

"Hi, Xana!" Walter said, breaking into a wide grin. "'Blivion got a metal sucker!" He said, pointing to the chainsaw carrying daemon. "Kitsu gave it to her!"
"Cressida! Hi!" Ice said, hugging Kitsu for a second before taking the little girl's hand. "It's cold out tonight, but they've got hot cocoa for sale! Do you think we should get some?"

"I think that would be a great idea." Cressida leaned forward to kiss Ice's cheek and then bent to kiss Kitsu's forehead lightly. "Hello, pretty Kitsu, have you drawn any more pictures?"
Quixana grinned in Oblivion's direction. "She's always hungry," he agreed. "Courage eats steak. Daddy makes it get cooked first." He screwed up his face. "Which she says is ick." Courage nodded in agreement and then ambled over to inspect Oblivion's new toy. She made no motion to touch it but just cocked her head to one side and observed. Quixana tugged absently on the front of his little black wool coat. "Want hot chocolate?"

Kitsu gave her a slightly wobbly smile and nodded, trying to cheer up. She had been through a lot already, and the sound of chainsaws was still roaring in the background.
"Poor Kitsu had a little encounter of some sorts." Ice said. "But she'll be okay, right, baby?"
Kitsu nodded as she glanced over at Ice, then smiled a little more brightly as she smelled the hot chocolate. She tightened her hand on Ice's, looking at the stall.
"Yeah!" Walter said. "And cookies!" He wore a brown button up coat and matching mittens, with a red and blue scarf wrapped around his neck. His poofy hat was placed firmly on his head. "I ran out earlier."

"Mommy made cookies at Christmas. I put some in a bucket for you." Quixana glanced past his friend and frowned. "Kitsu looks sad."
Cressida nodded. "Let me just herd the boys over to the stand and we'll all have some hot chocolate."

"She's okay." Walter said, shrugging it off. "She's got me and 'Blivion, after all." He added obscurely. For a second Kitsu stared at him, shocked that he seemed to realize what had happened. Then he went on. "And yay! Cookies!!"
Ice grinned, pulling out her wallet as she got into line. "So who wants what? Marshmellows is one, whipped cream is two." She said, earning two fingers from Kitsu and an honest smile. "With chocolate syrup!"
"Yeah!" Walter agreed.

"All three please?" Quixana looked up at his mother and she visibly melted at the Big Brown Eyes treatment. He immediately burst into a smile and reached out a hand. Courage trotted over and the boy put his mitten-clad hand on the lioness' back. "D'ya want some?" he asked her. She shook her head.
Cressida laughed and got into line behind Ice. "I love watching them together," she admitted guiltily. "I'm sure they talk when we're not looking."

'Sure she's sure...' Oblivion commented dryly, placing the chainsaw on the ground and licking at it with her long metallic tongue. It was a sucker, after all!
"What? You not sure?" Walter asked her, digging in his pocket and pulling out a whistle. Where he had gotten it, no one knew, but it did smell a little strange. "Look what I found!"
Ice grinned. "I wouldn't be surprised." She said before ordering.

"It's good, though." Cressida tugged off a glove with her teeth so she could better work the money out of her dainty little wallet. "I trust Courage completely. She thinks the world of Xana and he's likewise over the moon about her. I suspect she's a bit more responsible, though. Not that Leon would agree with me." She laughed and handed over the money before collecting her own order of 2 cups with extra marshmallow, extra cream, and splashes of chocolate sauce. "He still hasn't quite forgiven her for the chair."
Quixana held up his hand, looking expectant. "Mommy, please?"

Ice handed out the cups before taking a sip of her own and heading for the tables to the side. It was freezing, but beautiful! "That's so great! I'm pretty sure Oblivion's the more responsible one, as well, honestly. It must be because they're girls."
Walter rolled his eyes and sipped his cocoa, not about to reply to that one. "Chair?" He asked Xana, glancing curiously over at Courage.
Kitsu listened intently as she sipped at her own drink. She loved chocolate! It was by far, she decided right then and there, the best thing in the entire world! Well, next to drawing, that was.

"Nope." Quixana ran his gaze over the surrounding area, holding his cup carefully in both hands. "Did ya see the ice things yet?"
Cressida joined the other woman. "Mm, maybe. Or maybe it's just because they're the daemons. I don't know how it all works."

"Yeah! There's even a dragon one!" Walter said, cheering right up again as he kicked his dangling legs to get some feeling to his booted feet.
Ice shook her head. "It would be interesting to see if that's true." She admitted. "Is Terror more responsible than Annie?"

"I shouldn't think so. One's as mad as the other," laughed said Forgotten's doting mother. "But Quixana and Courage are responsible enough for all four, I think. He's started to try and read to her and help her do things. It's adorable."
Quixana's eyes were huge. "A dragon? Like a real big one? With teeth?" It appeared that it was all he could do to resist dropping his drink and pelting down to find the dragon and do battle.

"Uh huh!" Walter said, happy to be telling a tale. "But Oblivion said she had a better tail than he did. And was more colorful, too."
Ice laughed, unable to help herself. "They are very active, aren't they? But Walter was a handful at that age, as well. He kept escaping."
Kitsu pranced just a little, for the first time wondering if the blonde boy was freezing to death somewhere. She almost felt guilty then... but he didn't deserve her sympathy!
