A natural loner, the little red head sat contently under her newly made fort, her freckled face buried in a cloth bound book. She was writing vigourousley with a quill, a little hand made bowl with curshed plants and berries besde her. To those who did not know her, which were many, she woul seem deep within concentration, carefully writing every letter. In reality, her mind had difted free into the forests to roam, far from locked within a battle of concentrating on correct penmenship. Her letters were sprawly and scraggley, as she had taught herself how to write, and her grammar was near horrific. Any english major would find her work an abomination, but that was not what mattered to the little faun. It was the feeling she put forth into he work that truely held anything to her at all in it, and if she was good at anything, it was writing meaningful poetry. Meaningful to her, at least; another reading it might not find the hidden symbols and underlying themes.
The small fort she sat under was made by obviousley unexperianced hands. Several branches had been propped up and bound to create the northern wall. The sticks were leaning against a tree trunk, which created the southern wall, and there was no back or front protection. The mediocre structure would most certainly fall if a strong wind blew through the trees, but she was only a child and had yet to experiance her shelter crash ontop of her. In time, she would most certainly learn how to build something far sturdier, for she was not nomadic as some of her kin had come to be. She prefered the stability of having a home of sorts to sleep in at night and to laze about in on those days where nothing is done. It was true, she could be active if her heart so desired it, but she knew very little of the village, and wished not to breakfrom her shy shell and be the first to talk. For now, she was content with just sitting under her shelter and write her childish poems and thoughts down in the little hand made book.
On closer inspection of the little fauns attributes, it could be noticed that she had several little dots on her face. Adorable freckles, they were, and, as they were in the human species, they were paired with brilliant red hair. She wasn't truely so fond of the color, but dealt with it anyway, deciding that if Valesar loved her for her hair, it was a good thing. Bright green eyes were fixed on her words on the leaves, which matched her bit of clothing on her body. Brown fur on the bottom went nicely with her over all complexion, which rather looked like the fort she was hidden under, save for that red hair. If only a few oranges flowers adorned the twiggy wall to her side, she might be in perfect camoflauge. It truely didn't matter, however, as she wasn't actually hiding from anything at all. She was merely seeking the peace that the forest gave and the solitude it offered.
It was true that she was there to be alone, but there was an inkling of lonliness stamped on her mind. It would be nice for someone to come along at some point, talk to her even. She rarely had companionship, as her nature was so introverted, but what she really needed was some creature to come along and force her into conversation. That would be nice, wouldn't it?
ooc ;; i didn't know what on earth they would write with, so i just went with a feather and some natural ink. :3 and i didn't know if they had any leather to use, so i just went with cloth. x) i know forsure they have that since they have clothing. if there's any issues with any of it, let me know so i can change it. <3 oh, and as far as the paper goes, if they don't have paper i'll make it leaves she's writing on. that could actually be kind of neat, anyway. so... just let me know. :]

The marroon furred folan, with the white patch around his eyes silently moved in and sat outside the girls rickity shelter. He didn't say anything at first he watched her. She should be his target of scrutenty, he knew that Morrigan would be right behind, sooner or later, and she would then also interogate the girl. "Whats a child like you doing out in the woods alone...?" he cooler male voice slipped out from his muzzle. He pawed the ground with one of his four black colored paws.(yeh I know its not alot, but I didn't know what to do X.x;;; )

A young satyr's voice hummed a string of notes, then the shrill sound of a flute played by the fingers of a novice followed... or rather made a valiant attempt to follow. A light sigh of exasperation. The voice hummed again, slower and more insistent in concentration, and the flute's garbled whistling rang out in the forest, announcing Dev's presence to all within hearing distance.
His flute made a particularly bad shrieking noise and Dev stifled a giggle. "Sorry," he said with a grin to the forest at large, then focused on placing his fingers again, his tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth with the effort. He trotted onward, not caring where his hooves took him.
Something red caught his eye. He smiled and headed over toward it. It was a red faolan that he'd spotted, and it was sitting next to a pile of branches leaning against a tree trunk, under which was a young faun. It was the makeshift shelter that interested Dev the most. Building and fixing things fascinated him. He went past the faolan to the opposite side of the shelter and crouched down, tipping his head to the side to look into it. Glancing at the faun he flashed a grin and said, "Hello there," before returning to his inspection of the branches.

Looking up from her writing, the faun blinked at the faolan for a few moments before it actually registered he must be talking to her. She pulled back a little, huddling more, if that was at all possible, into the bark behind her. It had never been her nature to trust a canine, and this was no day to start. Epsecially if said canine lookeid rather large, and especially if there was nobody for at least a while, so no one would hear an attack. "H-Hello?" She gripped her book, shaking all over. "I... I live here. This is my home." She stuck out a practically vibrating finger towards the sad little fort's wall, as if that offered any explination.
To add to her fright, a satyr popped up on her other end, causing her to nearly jump out of her skin and only grip her writings harder, shaking almost uncontrolabley now. She was, after all, a shy creature, and the idea of two new faces peering at her was bit uncomfortable. "H...Hi." She gave a drunken wave and quickly went back to holding her book, unsure of which of the new commers was a thread. The satyr seemed kindly enough, and the faolan seemed like a gentle creature yet... Ceridwen just wasn't the type to dish out trust.

Dev furrowed his brow a little at her apparent anxiety and moved back, crossing his arms and then lifting a hand to rub his chin as he eyed the structure critically. "It could probably use some more binding around the top. So it doesn't fall." He stuck his flute behind his ear and pranced around to the other side again, petting the faolan's head gingerly as he sat down. "I like it though," he added cheerfully to the faun. "Did you build it yourself?"

Arun opened his muzzle to respond to the female but soon felt the hand of of hte satyr on his head and he growled pawing at him before he shifted away. His ears perked up listening to the conversation. "It's not always the safest place to be, the woods." He left his voice stay low and he looked around some. "Just keep your eyes and ears open." He stretched out and yawned lightly. "The boy is right. You will need a more stable place..." Arun's fur shifted in the slight breeze that slipped though the mess of trees and branches. He glanced around against standing..

Gathering what little courage she had, she placed the cloth bound book on the ground and shifted her position towards the pair with a look on her voice that screamed 'deer in headlights'. She was aware that her shelter was far from suitable, but hey, it was the best she could do. Being a short faun, she could hardley push the raft like structure against the tree to make a sort of lean-to, much less add binding. "I can't reach up there." She pointed her finger to the point of the triangular structure with a slightly helpless look. "The woods are... peaceful, though. They've always been safe for me." She offered a shy smile, grabbing at her hoof with her hand. It wasn't often that she spoke with others, especially out here in the middle of no where. Though this was a rather nerve racking occasion, it was still interesting, and worth while in the long run. "I... I'm Ceridwen." To be polite, the least she could do was offer up a name and an invitation. "Would you like to come in? It's a bit cramped but... we can fit if we try?"

"Ceridwen," he murmured to himself, then held his chin up proudly, beaming. "I'm Dev." He eyed the faolan with a trace of nervousness and smiled at Ceridwen again as she offered her shelter. He thought that was nice of her, but because he did not want to be sitting under it if it fell and because she seemed so shy about talking to him he replied, "That's okay, I can sit out here. Don't wanna take up all your space."
After a moment he had an idea. "Say, if you like, I can help you reach the top of the branches there and tie them up. I bet with the two of us, we could figure something out." Quickly he added, "Even though the forest has always been safe for me too. I just like to build stuff." Dev leaned over to pick up a fallen leaf from the ground, then he straightened and looked up brightly, his hands absently rolling the leaf into a little tube without his supervision.

Arun blinked his red eyes and then tilted his head a little. He sniffed again at the air, before he pawed the ground. "Thank you kindly for the offer but I'd rather not." The tri colored folan rolled his shoudler blades before he looked at the male getting up, and offering his assistance. "Well if would seem my need here is not needed. I'm sure I'll see you again, both of you. Before you know it." He sneered lightly catching glimpse of Morrigan's hair as she passed through in the distance. His ears perked. He leaned forward in a sort of bow, in his arrogant behavior. "For when we meet again.. I'm Arun." He then turned quickly bounding off.
(yuh sorry guys but I figure I'm sort of holding you back, and Arun doesn't fully fit. so I just Rped mah exit. I hope to rp ith you guys again soon though ^^; )

With the departure of the wolf, Ceridwen felt a little more comfortable, though there was still the matter of the satyr. Slowly, however, she growing more and more comfortable in his presence. He didn't seem to mean any harm to her, and he had offered to help... besides, making a friend might be good for her. She had avoided doing the such for a long time now, for fear of getting hurt. Dev didn't seem like he was going to do anything bad, right? "Okay... You might be tall enough to reach it." She slowly put her cloth bound book down on her leafy carpet, and crawled out of her shelter. Standing up on wobbley legs, she battled another fit of shyness, trying her best to look like she wasn't still a bit scared. "Wh-" She swallowed, gathering up her courage. "What do you need to make it better?" The one thing she did have was her knowledge of the forest in this neck of the woods. Every material he could possibley need, she would know where to find. Often, she would travel around with her little book, looking for inspiration for her stories and poems.

He shivered a little as the faolan passed, then he waved at him. "Bye Arun!" Arun may have been slightly frightening, but Dev didn't see that as any reason not to be friendly.
Turning his attention back to Ceridwen's shelter he considered what they might use to fix it up. "Hmm... Well, first I guess we should have something to tie branches with. Like vines, or thin... kind of... plants." As he searched for the words he mimed tying things. "Something that can be bent in a knot and not break. I don't really know where to get that here, but maybe you do? And I could get some other stuff that's just around on the ground to fill in holes."
He gave her an encouraging look, happy to see that she seemed to be conquering her anxiety a little bit, and stooped down to pick up a clump of leaves. "This'll probably work." He stuck the leaves between a couple of the branches she had leaned against the tree trunk. Most of them fell through, and when the clump had lost some of its width the rest fell too. "Okay... Um, we can work with it." He went about the business of gathering smaller sticks to put horizontally over the vertical branches, thinking that this might make for a good wall.

Some how controling her shy nature, the young faun nodded and watched as Dev shoved leaves in one of her fort's many holes. She lifted a brow skepticly when the clump fell through, but managed a small grin as to not hurt the satyr's feelings. Though she wasn't very social, she knew enough of the rules of social engagement to encourage others. Or at least, she thought she knew. Tracing circles on the soft forest floor nervously, she started to turn away without saying much. It took a moment and several steps for her to realize that she had never said where she was wandering off to, and if she planned on comming back. "I think I can find a long leaf for you somewhere this way." She was quiet, and didn't even bother to turn around while speaking. After her short sentence, she set off at an easy jog through the trees, playing with her fingers in that silly way that shy little ones do all the while.
It wasn't very long before she returned to her pathetic fort and Dev, a few stems of fern in her hands. She really liked the exotic looking plant, as it wasn't built like the others in the forest. It seemed like it would work nicely for what the satyr wanted to do; plus, Ceridwen thought they looked cool. "Will these work?" She took a few paces closer to the dark male and stuck out her little hand with the ferns. "There's a whole plant of them back that way." She motioned her head behind her, in the direction of which she had come.

"Oh yeah, I think those'll do it." He accepted the ferns with a smile. "Thanks." Slowly he paced around the tree, looking for the best place to stand to try reaching up to the tops of the leaning branches. He tied a few ferns end-to-end to make a sort of fern rope and then balanced his hooves on a protruding tree root, stretching himself up along the trunk. "I think I... can..." His voice trailed off as his tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth in concentration. With one hand he held an end of the fern rope. With the other he reached around the tree as far as he could, and when he swung the rope he tried to catch opposite end of the rope with this hand. It took a few tries but finally he had it. Then he brought the ends together at the back of the trunk and joined them with a messy but tight knot.
Heaving a sigh he let go of the tree and stumbled off of the tree root, losing his balance and sitting down hard. From the ground he looked up at his handiwork. The string of ferns formed a loose loop around the top of the branches and the tree trunk. It wouldn't do very much to hold them on its own, he thought, but if he had one or two more and he made them tighter they'd work well. He scrambled up and trotted around to look at all sides of the fort, asking Ceridwen without turning to look at her, "Where did you say there were more of those? I think we'll be able to use them."

As relaxed with the situation as her nerves allowed, Ceridwen stood near by the satyr as he worked. It interested her how he turned the simple plant into a tool to keep her fort sturdy. She wondered briefly if he had shelter somewhere around here, and if it was large enough for several youngsters to sit under. It must've been a grand fort, if he could turn her rickity thing into something to be proud of. Somewhere down inside, she found the courage to ask of his where abouts. "Do you live nearby?" Though her voice was soft, it held a light confidence that had not been there before. A small smile worked its way under her freckles.
When his work with the fern was done and he started to speak, she seemed to call to attention, straightening up and looking intently at the back of his head. "Its over that-a-way." She jabbed her thumb behind her, nodding her head as if agreeing with herself. "Would you like me to get some more?" She pushed a red lock out of her vibrant green eyes, getting ready for a little sprint.

Flinging his arms out to embrace the entire forest Dev said, "I live everywhere!" He returned her smile. "Mostly I wander around. I haven't found a place where I'd like to stay for very long... yet." There was something to be said for not having a shelter of his own. He could explore others' building techniques without having to commit to anything, so that later if he did decide to build his own he could make something truly great. He also enjoyed running around without worrying about where he was, meeting many satyrs and fauns and sleeping wherever he felt like it.
At her offer to get more ferns he bobbed his head. "That'd be good. And I'll try to tighten this one I tied already." He went back to stretching as high as he could against the tree trunk.
