The dark stallion bowed his head, sleep entering his eyes. He has taken to flying for several nights, after his wanderings on land for several days. It seems as the thrill of the flight still beckoned to him like a moth to a flame. Notte Rache was now nearing to the desert and peered inquisitively at the colorful albeit small flowers that sprouted near the sandy grassy edge. He marvelled at the wonders of the earth to be able to produce such beauty.

Why was she out here again? Oh, riiiight. Because her mother was too lazy to come take care of this herself. She had been craving some of the nice flowers that grew on the cactus in the desert, and Yue (being the kind, dutiful, and WONDERFUL daughter that she was) had been drafted to go get them. After all, the unicorns got rather weepy about the thought of hurting the cute little plants for no reason (according to her mother's BS speel), and the other Soquili didn't have a prickly enough personality to do battle with such a fearsone enemy as the cactus.
So Joy.
She trotted, hooves slipping in the sand as she made her way down the edge of the desert, looking for the plants. Heck if she was going to get dirty for this silly little adventure!

The scent of another soquili....a rather spicy scent prompted Notte awake, and he gazed curiously around until he spotted the brightly colored mare making her way along the edge, completely oblivious to him. She had a strange mane and even stranger colors and seemed quite within herself as she searched. The dark stallion wondered what she could be searching for, perhaps he could help? Hence he gave a low uncertain whinny, and slowly trotted to her, "Hello.......what are you doing?" he asked.

She blinked as the other Soquili... oh, wherever had he come from? "My mother sent me to fetch her some flowers. She wants them off of some prickly plant she calls a cactus. She hurt her wing the other day, and since then she's been getting everyone else to do her dirty work."
She glanced over the winged stallion. He was simply-colored, but it made him very striking. "And what are you doing all the way out here?"

"Oh...me, well I....." he trailed off, suddenly unsure. He realised he doesn't do anything really.....aside from wandering, and discovering new things, "Well.... I was admiring the flowers such as these..........perhaps they are what your mother is looking for?" He scuffled his hoof to brush the snow and sand off the soft objects in the ground, to reveal several tiny flowers, each with a snow white center and colorful petals. He smiled, why they were almost the image of the mare before him.

She blinked, eyes going wide. And smiled at him, pleased. "Oh, that is absolutely perfect!" she exclaimed, and leaned over, nipping at the flowers. Two, Three, Four claimed. And with her mother's appetite, she needed some more. "Would you like to help me look for some more?" she asked politely. "Please?" And batted her lashes, like she'd seen her mother do when she wanted something from someone, mare or stallion alike. "I've never been this way before, and you found them so fast!"
And to show that she would certainly NOT be lazy, she started nosing nearby, in a guestimate area of where more flowers could be.

Notte tilted his head, wondering why she was fluttering at him so. "Certainly," he replied with a nod, "They seem to be hidden just under the light snow, perhaps there are more near the those pricky plants over there," sniffing with his nose. He followed behind her, uncovering the petals. What a lovely daughter she must be to fulfil her mother's request so diligently. And she was fair to look upon, curious colors glinting beneath the sunlight. The sun was getting high, and beat down relentlessly. The dark stallion ruffled his head, shaking to clear sunspots. "And where have you hailed from? I am Notte, by the way," he said finally.

She tilted her head. Where had she hailed from? She didn't hail. The sun was too hot for it anyways! What on earth was this stallion talking about? "I'm Yue." she replied with a smile, skipping over the first question. "I live down by the forest, at the river. That way." she tossed her head in the general direction of her teepee.
Following after him, she started searching closer to the area he had chosen, uncovering some flowers of her own. And a small, prickly green bush. She eyed it suspiciously. Now why hadn't she listened better when her mother was telling her what this 'cactus' looked like. It wasn't a flower, so...
She bent her head, intent on plucking the flower off of the ground next to it, but pulled back with an alarmed snort. OW! What sort of deviltry was this?!

As she jerked away, she startled Notte and he gave a whinny in alarm, "What's the matter? Are you...are you hurt?" Her snout was turning slightly pink so he came near to her and peered closely, then looked towards the ground. There was something within the snow...at first he thought it may have been a creature, perhaps a snake.....that would be dangerous for they hold poison in their bite. But no...it was a tiny round green plant, studded with little sharp fur. It looked like a mini version of the larger pricky plants he has seen in the distance. its fur must have stuck onto Yue. He looked up at her again and saw a tiny point on the side of her snout, "Stand still..." he said, and leaned over and nipped at it.

She held still as his teeth came close to her nose, eyes widening instinctively, back hoof stamping the ground. But she managed to remain still, though her body was shaking with her stubborn refusal to react. She'd never had someone try and get this close on their first meeting! It hadn't even been that long. Her ears went back, staying that way in a silent signal of displeasure. "Thank you." she muttered as the tiny shreds were pulled from her nose.
So, that was a cactus 'thorn' as she'd heard them called. She'd heard they were painful, and she was only glad she hadn't gotten one close to her eye.
She was still rather upset though, and it wasn't all the stallion's fault. After all, he had been kind enough to pull them from her nose. "May I have your name?" she asked, curious as to who her helper was.

(( xD he gave his name before teehee))
Notte spat out the thorn and shook his head in displeasure at the plant. But he was sure it was just its way of protecting itself in this harsh environment. The mare however looked distressed, "Does it hurt?" he asked, unhappy that she would have gotten hurt while he was here. He fluttered his wings uncertainly, unsure as to how to make her feel better. However when she asked for his name, he blinked in surprise, thinking he had introduced himself before.....,"Notte Rache" he replied.

((She's bad with names. xD))
"Not much. More a mix of pain and being startled." she admitted. "I wasn't expecting such little annoyances. I'm very grateful to you though, for your assistance, Notte Rache."
How to admit to the stallion she was truly that horrible with names at times? Especially when the pronunciation of it was so different? She hadn't wanted to have him think she was utterly silly and couldn't pronounce a name, so she would instead have him think she merely had the common affliction of a poor memory for names.
Sometimes, she confused herself.

Smiling, Notte nodded, "Sometimes the smallest things surprises us," he said, lapsing into his sagacious side. "so where now, Miss yue? would your mother have further requests?" the stallion asked, slightly curious. Indeed a mare who would asked her daughter to travel far for flowers is curious....indeed.

She grinned. "My mother has a lot of requests. It's just trying to get someone to acquiesce that is the problem. However, I was feeling wanderlust, so I came." she shrugged lightly. "And what brings you so far out here, Notte Rache?"

"Wandering...merely," was the reply, his dark eyes blinking at her. "There is a whole world to go, have to begin somewhere."
Indeed he has been wandering many places. He wonders when he'll stop...or if he ever could.
