I don't know how y'all's police force work, but here in Parker, it sucks... I work as a security guard, and durring one night shift I had that overlapped another guard's, we got a call of loud music and went to the neighboring house to tell the to sheddup. Turns out it was a small gang of kids (gang = like 6-7 people, kids = oldest one was 16 and could somehow get away with driving).... Now, when you knock on a door and the music dims, you hear frantic footsteps, and see a few kids peeking out the blinds a mintue before someone answers the door, you'd get suspicious too. Wull, what happend was this kid broke into his aunt's house (it's her weekend house or something... lotta people like that around here owning a house here but not living in it 0o), and after finding an easy and fast way to break into the house, he invited his frineds. Now, they tried to beat-feet after we called up the owner and asked if anyone should be there at the house and went back to get them. They didn't get away. Gave the license plate number to the cops to get the kids leaving in the car, and two kids were passed out drunk in one of the rooms (in a matter of like 5 mins, they drank enough to pass out... heh). In the end... No justice.... The main kid texted his mom to come pick him up, and when the cops rounded up the little meatbags, even after the main kid showed how he broke in, and touring the house to find it messed up and porno shots taped to the walls, and even after seeing the kids drunk as hell and finding two 30 packs in the kitchen, the cops did nothing. They did the whole Leave it to Beaver style "if you do this again, you will go to jail, and then how silly would you look?"....

I tell you it's sad... Kids get away with too much, and either the parents don't care/don't care to know what the kids are doing or the cops wanna bother people like me (I look young and girly/scarry/suspicious, but what the hell), and leave the kids alone. Now, I'm not saying we should beat these kids into submission, but damn it, I just wanna beat them into submission every time they start things and even get away with it.... It's not just the teenagers too. I've seen little meatbags as young as 8 cursing like a sailor and trashing stores. .......so... anyone else have any stories with disrespective teens?

Cursing like a sailor eh....

Yeah, no one disciplines there kids any more and it doesn't look like the justice system is helping either. Whats worse, is those that discipline, get in trouble for it. Everything is physical or emotionally abusive anymore.

Burglary is a crime the last time I checked. If I owned that house I would have prosecuted.

You wanna hear the big one? Alright, the kids had yelled at us, threw a beer bottle at us, admited and showed how they broke into the house, and were all underaged and drank, but was left of fthe hook for no reason. Wanna hear another thing the cops said? "wull. the kid who started the whole thing is related to the house owner, and we can't take the others in because they were invited by the one.".... ....THERE ya have it. Always remember who invited you to break into a house, then you have the designated right to just say 'it's not my fault, I was invited' and you'll be let go stare

The sad thing is that on one hand you have the absolutely horrible teens who get away with everything, and on the other you have the really sweet good teens who get harrassed for being teenagers.

My little brother is a teen, he 1. doesn't drink, smoke or do any drugs (unless you count tylennol when he gets a headache or fever) 2. is a pacifist 3. treats women with uber respect 4. Doesn't break the law. 5. is just an overall sweet kid.

Yeah cop pulled him over for going maybe a mile or two over the speed limit, gave him all sorts of crap about being a rebel and the typical law/rule breaking teen scum. My little brother can't help that his age has the word "teen" in it, he didn't ask to be young! Sides, he was driving the car we share, a honda civic which anyone who is familiar with them realizes they are light weight cars and can easily pick up speed, sometimes I look down and realize "oh crap, I'm three miles or so over the speed limit" and have to slow down. Poor kid wasn't doing anything wrong.

Then you have the teens that have no respect for ANYONE, that are cruel and mean to their peers, that are just-- well stupid kids who drink or smoke away their brain cells, etc. They usually seem to have a mom or dad with money to bail them out.

Pretty sad.

Sounds like me and your brother should hang out some time 0o. You discribed a lot of me there. Except I take more then tylennol... a lot of times I take PMs or somas because I suffer from migranes... Yeah, it's sad that the ones who get away from it should be thrown into a volcano, but that's what this world is saddly... cruel and unfair...

Awe, I feel bad for your brother, but I know how he feels! When I was a teenager, I never did anything wrong. I got good grades, I was always on time, I never got in trouble, and I never drank or smoked or anything! Heck, I didn't even go on a date until I was well over 21 o_o;;

But one night, I was out getting something out of my parents' car, and the police stopped me.. they said that I was suspected of stealing a car with my boyfriend! Crazy! I didn't even have a boyfriend, for one, and two, I didn't even know how to drive! I had to go talk to them and stuff, and it turns out some other kids I didn't even know told them I stole the car... wtf... o_O;

I too was along the same lines as your brother, Antonia. I remember being in the backseat of my parents car (I was about 17 and we were going to lunch) and Mom and dad were going on and on about how they hated teenagers and how horrible hooligans they all were.

I'm sitting in the back and had to remind them that I was 17, and that I didn't drink, smoke, date 50 bazillion guys etc. That it was the issue of 1 or 2 teens ruining it for the rest of us.

But yes, I do agree, over all teenagers today get away with more than we ever would have when we were there age, and much more than they should. Just because they are under 18 doesn't mean that they are not responsible for their own actions.

Nessa that sounds like a nightmare eek I would be mortified if a police officer thought I stole a car.

Maramijade it does seem like if you're a good teen you get kind of overlooked when the teen bashing discussions begin smile

One thing I hate is that Some cops will actually be more lenient on Athletes. I was pulled over when I was 16 for my Headlights going out, and the Officer was all nice and sweet to me to start out with(I was 6'7" when I was 16), and told me to get it checked out and everything, He'll probably give me a warnign as I wasn't really at fault, then asked which High School I play Basketball for.

I don't play Basketball. Or any Sport, for that matter.

Well, there went the sweet routine, And I got a Ticket after all. WTF!?

See, back when I was in high school, I didn't party or anything. I went out with my friends to the movies, we had sleepovers, we played volleyball at the beach, totally wholesome things.

As far as parental trust goes, I paved the way for my younger sister.

All of a sudden at 13 she started sporting thongs, at 14 she was getting body parts pierced at a grody swap-meet stand that didn't check ID, at 15 she was drinking at college parties, at 16 she somehow procured a fake ID, and now, at 17, she's dating a 32-year-old.

WTF!!

I mean, she's been punished somewhat (especially when word got out about her fake ID) but y'know, being grounded for a month is a slap on the wrist. Having your cell phone taken away is a slap on the wrist. I was really appalled by how my parents handled her, because they raised me with, like, an iron fist!

this is true. some kids these days don't get disceplined like they use to anymore. kinda sucks at times that kids these days can get away with so much.

Well I don't think spanking a teenager is going to be very effective. rofl

Now as much as I gtipe about stupid kids, I don't think they get away with too much. That's parenting, pure and simple to me.

Kids do get away with murder. I see alot of it where I waitress. I had a family in last night. The two teens, looked maybe 13 and 15 were literally wrestling over the video game upfront.
WHen I asked the mom to get them under control...she told me if I wanted them to stop to do it myself?!?!

Last month, I caught a mother laughing while her 7 year old peed down the air vent in my dining room!!!

WTH? Is there no parental pride left in the world? Being a waitress will give you a seriously bitter outlook on the average parenting skills these days. rolleyes
