The pregnant femme was about to go hunting when she first felt those pains that were oh so familiar. It made no difference, she went hunting and after a while returned to Ren with a rabbit in her maw. It had taken a while but an old rabbit was no match for River in any state.
She moved back to where she had left the older female, the rabbit tightly in her jaws. The pain still coming but not as much as she had originally thought. She wa shappy to ignore them for now.
She found Ren and dropped the rabbit at her paws before laying down quietly to the side, closing her eyes she clenched her jaws shut, the trees around them were whispering and she felt they knew. The trees knew the pain she was going through and they were talking about it, she was sure they were.

Ren raised her head from her paws as the younger female approached, watching her curiously.
Are you sure you should be hunting? I feel that you are further gone in your pregnancy than first expected. She queried. Sirena could not help but worry about her protector, especially when they were so close to Phib's lands.
Then with a sigh, her breath misted into the dark and she turned her head skywards. Sirena was always so much calmer and wise when the moons shone down above her.
It's a beautiful night.
Her heart ached.
A very beautiful night...

River looked up and smiled, "I will hunt untill they pop out of me, I am sure I have a while..." She stopped as another pain shot through her, "..yet." She laid her head back down, watching the other female.
"It is a lovely night." She smiled, her head tilting a little and thinking. She was carrying Diegos pups once more, for the last time, she wasn't going to mess it up with these three.
Another pain shot through her, more painful then before and causing her to cry out in pain. Well that wasn't suppose to happen, now Ren would know she was in some sort of pain.

Ren had just lowered her head to tug at the rabbit when River's cry set her into 'attack' mode. For a moment she looked startled and had whipped herself up onto her paws, turning to find out the cause of this yelp.
River? River! What's wrong? She cursed the concern in her voice, hating the fact that every day she spent with the brown femme she felt more and more attached. This wolfess had been the first to ever reach out to Ren in a long, long time.
Is it the pups? Were you injured?

"I..I Must have hurt myself while hunting. Its nothing." She wouldn't admit that she was having the pups, she couldn't be. Ren only mentioned it a couple of days before.
The female smiled and settled herself down again, closing her eyes to rest, she refused to let these pups come, they couldn't. She couldn't watch pups while looking after Ren and she had promised Ren. Oh life was horrid sometimes.

The old she-wolf gave an impatient snort and lowered herself to the ground once more, body held rigid as she eyed the younger female. There was something not quite right about this but she wasn't sure what.
In labour or not, discomfort could not be good for the pups.
Here. She nudged the rabbit towards River with her snout, eat a little of this, it might settle your stomach.

River looked at the rabbit and shook her head feeling a little sick. "No, its yours, Im really not hungry. I ate earlier." She lied but there was no way she could eat anything now. The pains and the sickness wasn't doing her much good.
She just curled herself up wishing that the pains would stop, hoping it wasn't the pups coming.
The hope wasn't going to be able to come true as the next pain was sharper then the rest and there wasn't a doubt what it was. She let out a yelp and stretched her body a bit, her breathing increasing in speed. Damn pups.

Sirena turned to gaze around them, her body tense as she realised what was happening. River could deny it all she wanted but there was no doubt that she was in labour.
Okay, keep calm. Her own stomach twisted nervously. You've done this before, just keep calm, breath deep and focus on pushing. It seemed that Sirena knew quite a bit about birthing despite the fact she had only done it once before.
I know you can do it River.
She took up guard, turning to watch their surroundings, making sure that nothing came too close. With River's mate not here it was up to her to make sure nothing went wrong.

River was annoyed but she just listened and did what she was told. She breathed deeply, whining as another pain made it way through her. She hated this bit.
She listened to Ren talking and her last words gave the adult some strength. Ren believed in her. River believed in Ren.
She pushed, she breathed deeply and pushed. How long will it take for these to come out? She wanted them out already, out and not more pain!

As River fell into labour the cogs in Ren's mind began to turn. If her mission was to suceed then she needed someone to aid her in killing those children of hers.
Perhaps it was time to call upon that aquaintence of hers...though not just yet. She quivered in anticipation, eyes watching the west with a fiery lust.
Soon she would have her revenge.
The moon glowed down upon them, a shining eye that seemed to watch over them. It was kindly, it was loyal and Sirena loved it.
The moon's gaze will bless your children... She whispered, not expecting the younger female to hear her.

Maybe the moon was blessing River first. She continued to breath and push and the first pup arrived, his pelt seemed to be blue and white. River pulled him towards her and licked at his small body.
The contrations were still going strong inside her but she knew for certain that another one wasn't about to pop out and even if it did, well, she wasn't going to let anything happen to her son.
"Ocean..." She mumbled over the pup, she had heard the word once before, a vast plain of water, nothing but water and the tales of the stormy weather and the white foam. Yes Ocean suited him well.
As she washed the pup some more it came apparant that he had his fathers nose and facial markings. It concerned River a little though she did not worry about it nor care. She was waiting and ready for the next pup.
She looked up at Ren wondering what the older female was thinking, she was still in pain and not really thinking straight herself but at least she knew something, she was having beautiful children that would be brought up without their fathers influnece.
As River laid in pain as the next contraction came, she made sure to keep the pup close to her warm sweating body. She didn't want to loose him, her son, her beautiful child.

She turned her head slightly and saw the tiny pup, it's blue and white body confirming what Ren had secretly suspected.
River and this mate of hers must have had one last liason before splitting. These pups were now the result of that. She inhaled the little one's almost watery scent and turned her face away to hide the smile that had begun to form.
Then with a small nod she continued to wait. Ren was patient. She would wait all night if she had to.

Maybe it took hours, maybe minutes but to River it never seemed to end. The pains kept coming and going, she was pushing and gasping.
The second pup to appear was purple in colour, which annoyed River somewhat but she didn't have time to be upset. She moved him with his brother and then the pains came again.
She whined and cried, what else could she do? The last one was alot smaller then the other two and slipped out with ease. This was the only one of the three that looked as if it was even slightly like it belonged to her.
"Diego..." She let a snarl pass through her before washing the two boys who had just arrived. That was it. It was over.
She looked to Ren, her eyes wide and tired looking her whole frame wet from sweat and next to her three small pups all very obviously showing Diego's colouring.
"Damn him."

Some good has come of this. Sirena spoke, her voice quiet and face tentative. She was on guard, taking the position of the male wolf. She would protect her companion and the newly born pups with her life, though there was not much left. That one last moment between you and him has given you a gift, a gift to raise a new family, to start a new. It may seem strange for me to say it but I know you are a motherly wolf. This will do you good. She gave a small nod.
When you are rested we shall seek shelter and get these pups out of the cold. I too birthed in winter and it is not good for them to be in the bitter wind too long.
