And video games are going back to the classic styles of gaming now. Woot! What can I say, Resident Evil has always spooked us in various ways, but Resident Evil 4 takes the cake. Their technique in using sounds of creatures that are not visibly there are awesome. It reminds me of the first time I played Silent Hill the Play Station 1 game. It keeps the player on his or her guard as you turn corners, knowing very well that something might be waiting for you.

Another good thing about Resident Evil 4 is they took out those silly opening door scenes. Yes, every time you opened a door on previous RE games, there would be a cut scene of the door....opening....then it would go back to the game. Of course, if you thought you were definitely hitting up a baddy, the opening door scene was accumpanied by a heartbeat. Even so, it was annoying. Now, you can kick doors open and continue on with the game. Love it!

What are your views on Resident Eveil 4 or any other Resident Evil game?

I love Resident Evil 4. It's the only RE game I've ever played, so I can't really compare it to the older ones. I love everything about the game; the storyline, the characters, the enemies - everything.

The controls are a bit different, but I always loved the storyline. I am a fan of plots and twists. This opens it up nicely for RE5 with Chris Redfield. whee

That's what made it cooler, in my book. I was like "wait, wasn't he in...?" Of course, I had to go online just to make sure I was right. I love how they do that. It's almost like a "where are they now?" episode.

Resident Evil is definitely one of my all time favorite series. Games, books, movies, whatever it is.

Yeah, I know the movies are off from actual story lines, but I still love them.

As for Resident Evil 4, it was a really great and innovative game for the genre and series.

I support the change in controls and the removal of the extra useless door scenes. I know that the scenes for when you open a door or go up or down stairs was meant to take a break from what's going on and make you feel more fear, fear of the unknown at the other end of whatever you're doing. It was cool the first few times, but it got old after awhile.

I really love the over the shoulder camera view and the laser sights for guns. It made aiming and shooting a lot easier than previous games, where you just aimed in the general direction and hoped for the best. Now there was an actual targeting ability.

The game has awesome audio. I hated hearing any enemy character moving around and not being able to see where they were then to have them come out of nowhere. I also really enjoyed that when it was used with the Regenerators, even though they were beyond creepy. Just hearing that disturbing breathing the first time around sent chills down my back and made me move much more cautiously.

One of my favorite new features, besides much more in the weapons department, was the use of the action buttons. Now, instead of just watching, you could be part of a cut scene or you can do something much cooler looking than running around and shooting. I still love jumping out of windows, hell I'll even do it if I don't need to escape from enemies. It just looks really good.

One thing I dislike about the game is Ashley. I hate being a babysitter and I hate that she wasn't very smart. Sometimes she'd run away right into the line of fire, or an enemy, or something and the next thing I know it'd be game over. It added a challenge, yes, but it got really old really fast.

Another thing I disliked was the end boss battle. It was highly disappointing. In my opinion, they spent more time making him look cool than making him a challenge.

I liked the introduction of the three old RE characters, Leon, Ada, and Wesker, and how it opens things up for future games to bring back, hopefully, zombies.

I'm sure I could say more, but I've probably droned on enough and bored you all.

No, no! I love discussions! Tee hee! I also enjoyed the change in controller setup. It got to the point that I had to relearn the controller setup for Resident Evil 1 when I decided to replay it.

Not being able to see your opponent but still able to hear them is awesome! It actually still pumps me up. I get so into it, I sometimes get into it to a point where I get freaked out over zombies that eventually show up on the screen after you hear them and not see them for a while.

I've beaten the main game three times now.

I've been a Resident Evil/Zombie freak since I was nine. Every Resident Evil game has been a treasure to me, and even though I didn't like Alice all that much, the movies were a gem. If I could, I would buy all the games and just play them again.

:: On Topic ::
I've always loved Umbrella. Just how clever they were and how their lies and mishaps ended up spelling doom for everyone in Raccoon City. Just the fact that they have secret virus testings and what they do to get the most power is just amazing, and the connections to Umbrella are clever as hell.

I think I enjoyed the story plot of Code Veronica the most. Not plot exactly, just the idea of how it started with the Ashford Family.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica did start out pretty interesting, and the rest of the game was decent, but I found even myself bored with it halfway through. It's easily the longest Resident Evil game I've managed to beat.

Yea, same here. But the whole Ashford story had me going. Tee hee! razz

Hah, i've beaten RE4 within two weeks. I couldn't put it down. I had it on GC, so there wasn't as much stuff than on PS2, but I managed to collect all the bottecaps, medallions, costumes, weapons, beat Aya and Leon's things, and got 5 stars on all the Mercenaries. =D
