Kirabo yawned softly as he wandered through the grassy plains he knew best. It was drifting into late afternoon, and the young male cheetah had been on the move again...this time mostly after food. It had been a while since he'd found any good prey herds, and he needed something better than hares and other little animals. He hadn't a clue where he was now, either...for an adult, the pretty white cheetah was still a tad naive. He'd never had any bad experiences with other species, luckily enough, so he was unaware of the animosity that existed between them. He'd always been careful to lie low in other's territory.
His eyes jerked up when he spotted movement ahead...a small antelope herd. It was perfect...his favorite. He couldn't take down much else, grown zebra were too large, as were wildebeest and water buffalo. He licked his chops quietly, and began to slink forward, unaware that he was slinking into the area just south of the pridelands...
Kirabo may have been unaware that he was in her territory, but the seemingly omnipresent Hodari'roho happened to be out, patrolling her borders. She, too, had her eyes set upon the herd of antelope, and the sudden presence of an intruder - and a cheetah, no less! - made her blood boil. Scarlet eyes flashing dangerously, she decided to dramatically change her course of action and instead began to stalk around the area that the cheetah was slinking through.
Her tail twitched and her nose quivered, her mouth opened just slightly. She could almost taste the blood, and it sent a tremor down her spine. With the skill of a much more experienced lioness, she crept towards him. Roho might not have been much in the friendly or welcoming category, but she excelled in anything that had to do with hunting - even if it wasn't for food.
Within moments she rocketed herself forward, a massive, rippling snarl erupting from her throat. Her paws stretched out and her claws unsheathed as she sailed towards the innocent cheetah.
Kirabo noticed her, but it was far too late, he'd been too preoccupied with stalking the antelope to see her in time. A succession of shrill cries bubbled from his throat as the lioness let out her battle cry, his reaction too slow as he felt the claws dig into his flesh as she landed on his delicate hindquarters. Over he fell with Roho ontop. He was a slender, fragile thing, certainly not meant for fighting a bulky lioness. He yelped and cried out, and began to attempt to struggle away, snarling in fear and lashing at her face. If he could just slip away then he might be able to run....he kicked up loads of dust, hardly noticing the antelope herd flee in the background, frightened over the commotion they were causing.
As her eyes fell upon him, she smirked, calling out harshly, "Didn't you learn not to trespass on other creatures' territory?" Her tail swished and she stalked towards him, her head lowered dangerously, as if she were about to strike again.
Kirabo stiffened, bristling lightly, and turned to face her, still limping very badly. It seemed he could hardly put a bit of pressure on it without experiencing incredible pain.
"My apologies! I didn't realize..." The white cheetah's heart raced as she approached, and he panted heavily. He'd been too hungry, and too focused on the antelopes to have noticed any territory boundaries.
