James (25%)

James had a craving for fish. He had just gotten a bit of white hair on his head and a small beard as well. He had pads on his hands and feet and he wasn't as dexterous as he once was. He had on his tee shirt and jeans but he went bare foot. He grabbed a plate and some salmon and went to go sit down.

(Ryan - 25%)

Ryan was busy stuffing his face with a random assortment of food as James entered and didn't look up, though his large ears followed the noise James made. It wasn't until he heard him walking over to the table that he looked up, the darker tip of his nose flaring a bit, trying to get Jame's scent.

"Mmmph" Ryan held a up a clawed finger, before he swallowed the food in his mouth. "Sorry 'bout that. Hi."

James sat down and grabbed his fork. "Hi. I'm James and you?" He picked up his fork clumsily. He was still trying to get used to the starting of claw on his hands. He took a bite out of the salmon and swallowed. He had never really liked the taste of fish but he couldn't stop craving it now.

"Name's Ryan." He didn't bother offering his hand, since James hadn't either. Seeing James take a bite of his food, Ryan was suddenly reminded of his own, and began to eat again. A couple slices of ham diasappeared down his throat in the time it took James to eat a couple bite of fish. With startling speed, Ryan was on to a small pile of green beans, which were gone just as quick.

It wasn't his fault he was a fast eater, he had always been one. It didn't help that his animal was a omnivorus scavenger. In fact he hated green beans, well, at least he used to. There didn't seem to be any foods he didn't like now.

Feeling a little better now that his stomach had some food in it, he turned again to James. "So, do you know what you are?" If James was paying attention, he'd notice that Ryan said 'are' instead of 'turning into'.

"Polar bear. Plain and simple. They left me a note just after my first transformation." He took a few more bites. He set down his fork and drank some water.

He looked up at Ryan and tried to guess. There wasn't much he could tell. Maybe a horse. No they didn't eat like that. Maybe. No. Maybe. No. He couldn't figure it out. It must be something less known. Well if nothing else it is interesting.

"So what are you now?" He had guessed that he must have come recently because he wasn't as far along as most people.

"Polar Bear? That's not too bad. I never got to work with any polar bears, but I did take care of some black bears. I bet you'll end up being pretty strong." James probably had no clue that Ryan used to be a zookeeper, but Ryan talked as though he did.

"Myself? I'm an Armadillo. A Little Hairy Armadillo to be precise, though I'm not exactly little." Ryan had a small smile on his face, not at his joke, though it might seem like it, but at the fact that he was an Armadillo.

James looked at him with a strange look. "What are you talking about?" He got that he must have worked with animals ovbiously but he was speaking strangely.

"Well at least an armadillo has...un....they have.... Okay I'm clueless. I don't know anything about most animals." He took another sip of water. He rubbed the pads on his hands.

"Oh, sorry. I used to work at a zoo. I had some black bears that I took care of there. There are definitly some worse animals to be. You'll probably be pretty strong once you've changed all the way."

"I'm pretty happy with being an Armadillo, actually. I was worried I'd be something that couldn't swim, but Armadillos can actually swim pretty well. It's going to hurt like a b***h when I grow the plates though. It's a good thing this island is warm too. My body temperature is going to get a lot lower, probably." He was rambling. Hw was always like that once he started talking about animals. It didn't even occur to him that James would likely take the heat a different way.

"Oh that makes more sense." He looked down at his arms. They were already thicker. He would probably already be stronger. That would be useful.

James just listened to him ramble. It was good to hear another almost human voice. He had kept mostly to his room recently. He had only the drowning silence of his own thoughts. He smiled as he started to eat again.

When James went back to eating, Ryan realized he was the only one talking, and he ended up letting the conversation decend into an awkward silence. He quickly went back to eating himself. His plate, piled with an almost disgusting assortment of foods, was soon empty, in as much time as it took James to finish his plate.

"You don't need to stop talking. I like hearing someone talk other than me. I've been couped up in my duplex for the past few days just sitting there in silence." James picked up his plate and Ryan's and took them to be cleaned. He sat back down and drank some more.

"Sorry, I just didn't have anything alse to say." It was a lie, but Ryan was a bit of a smooth talker, enough that it didn't sound like a lie. "Oh, you didn't have to bus my dishes for me. Thnks though."

"Are you okay? You seem to be drinking an awful lot of water."

"If you say so. And I don't mind. I was a waiter for a while. Got used to it." He set down his glass.

"It is probably just a polar bear thing. Heat and such."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 03, 2007 8:46 pm

"Yeah, probably. Armadillos have an average body temp of 91 degrees, so I'm going to be needing this warm weather. Glad I'm not becoming an ectotherm though, that'd suck having to bask all day."

"I've been trying to get out of my duplex, but I've been prefering staying in places where it feels enclosed, and my duplex has started to feel like my, well, den."

"How long has been since you changed?"

"That is another thing. I don't feel attached to my duplex as an animal thing but as a human thing and a habitat thing. Well I need to get out eventualy."

"I changed about 9 or 10 days ago. How about you?"
