[| A Silent Night |] 2K5.07.09 Laisewiel & Senfaust The evening's soft breath wafted against her, ruffling her hair, as she quietly rested against a tree. Running a hand through her hair, brushing her telltale broad silver streak back into her chestnut hair, she closed her eyes and took a breath, which was labored from wounds obtain from a long brawl* that she had undergone. Groaning from the pain of bound wounds, she forced herself to her feet and trudged off toward a river she could see in the distance. This is not my day... Flexing the muscles, taunt from overexertion, she sat down at the base of a great pine to catch her breath. As she rested, something in her mind erred her. Opening her eyes and glancing into the shadows of the forest, she sighed. Not now.. Of all times.. Easing her dagger loose from it hidden hilt in her boot, she tried to relax for the time being. Then without warning, she threw the blade and heard it hit wood, but not without a rustle of surprise. Rising to her feet painfully, she suddenly felt herself pinned by a sleeve. Looking to her arm, she found her dagger embedded in the tree behind her. "Touch..." An individual approached as she pulled her blade free, she sheathed it to rest her hand on the hilt of one of her long swords and watched the stranger cautiously. Once she did, the silhouetted individual spoke, "Wait! I do not come to harm." Silently eying this stranger, she did not stray her hand from where it rested upon the sword's hilt. There was no hesitation in her voice, "Who are you and why did you stalk me?"
He raised his hands at the cephalic level and approached slowly. He had tracked her since the last town three days ago--not for affection, but for guidance. Apparently, there was word that she was mercenary specialized in relic hunting and killing. However, without solid proof that this person was the one he was told she was, he was going to remain wary of this individual since she had caught him off guard a moment ago.
Though equipped also, he would not present himself a threat. If she wasn't the one he sought, he would simply withdraw into the shadow of the forest and begin searching elsewhere for a lead. Stepping just behind a beam of light cast by the waxing moon, he maintained eye contact and a calm demeanor. "I am simply searching for Laisewiel. I heard that she can help me."
The woman was silent; her hand remained where it rested at her side on a sword. "I am she and what business do you have with her..?"
"I am seeking an artifact and have heard that you may know of its origin," he slowly ventured. "A relic by the name of Invictus Lucifer..."
"Unconquered Light Bringer," she said, completing the rest of his sentence. Taking a deep breath and sighing raggedly, "Yes, I know of this article, but of not where it truly lies. In addition, I'm in no shape to go hunting at the moment. Do what you will. I have other things to tend to."
"Wait. What if I compensate for your aid?"
There was a short, forced laugh. "You're a humorous individual. Why would you over all the rest need Invictus Lucifer?"
"What would it matter as long as I paid you for your services?"
"It matters for many have sought for it and came back with empty hands. Far too few know of what they are searching for, and even fewer know of what it can do. So, why should I help you when you probably don't know either? I cannot help someone who cannot give me a reason to help at this time."
A long silence hung in the air thickly. Her pose was the same, on the defensive in her state. He couldn't blame her for wanting to rest, but he needed her help. "I quest for it for I believe it is a key, matching the symbol carved on my sword and tattooed on my arm."

[| RP3 2K5.07.13 |] 2K5.07.19 Koel & Senfaust It was a scorching day, where even the flies would drop to the pavement dead and twitching like a blistering fried egg. The city, a steal trap of people, bodies, and sweat, made the heat even worse. And the garbage building up on the last day before trash day was cooking in their recepticals releasing a pungent, ripe odor much like sewage with a mix of water run-off and rust. Thankfully, in this very distasteful hell, Koel always seemed to frown upon even through the most upbeat of persons, there was a park.
Koel was there on this "fine" day, with his buttock pressed neatly in the crook of his favorite tree, a book resting open on his thigh and a ripe red apple half eaten in his palm. Being the Legendary Dragon of Wood, the pulse he felt on the tree reminded him nicely of an overly expensive messaging chairs you find in catalogs.
A nice quilted pattern of gold light filtered gently through the leaves as the oasis was engulfed by the mechanical giants that were the skyscrapers around. Perhaps today would be a bit more interesting then yesterday, just perhaps.
Senfaust cursed under breath at the weather. The sunlight was hurting his eyes, even through the sunshades that he wore. While he only wore a light shirt and canvas trousers, they were both long to shield his pale skin and were only adding to his discomfort. In addition, the sweltering heat was doing little to help his mood at the moment, being mostly absorbed by his dark hair and wings terribly.
Pausing a moment under the shade of a tree which intersected the park path, he stretched his wings in an attempt to shake off the heat somehow. It didn't work as once he stepped back out into the light, the heat began again.
While he usually avoided days like this, his herbal omnibus back at his temporary living quarters desperately required refilling. He had just come to the nearby city for work, but lived nowhere in its confines as he preferred solitude. Having started work as a part-time herbalist- pharmacist, he had just run out of quite a few herbs.
He knew the forest near the city was a sure place to find some of the plant species he required; however, as to where they could be in this vast body of tree, he knew it would take time to locate. Fishing out a small flask from his side-slung knapsack, he took a drink of water while continuing on the path, drawing closer to the center of the wood.
Koel wasn't entirely oblivious to the other's appearance, only rathered numbed by all the other people that were mulling about in the park, just to escape the inescapable heat. The trees whispered to him, told him of the creatures drawing near, but something about this one had them confused. They weren't sure whether to describe him as a squirrel or a bird or a person. So Koel was less warned then he hoped, and far less prepared when from out of the corner of his eyes a glint of black feathers shot him like a bullet in the head. Like seeing a sudden ghost, Koel rocketed out of the tree and tumbled to the ground, head first, chin ground into the dried and yellowed grass.
Pausing as he heard a rather loud rustle, he panned his gaze around and found an individual faceflat on the grass. Fearing that individual might me suffering from heat stroke or had just fainted, he quickly jogged over to see if he or she is alright.
Gently taking a shoulder and turning the person over, he was a bit surprised to find a young man. Relocating the individual back against the nearby tree, Senfaust drew out his flask and uncapped it in the case that person was thirsty

[| RP3 2K5.07.13 (cont'd) |] 2K5.07.22 Senfaust & Koel Koel was the least bit out cold, but his pride certainly was, when he realized the strange flash of black and burst of feathers was actually attached to a man, not some monstorous beast. "Pigeons." He mumbled at little more then a growl and lifted his eyes to the other as he was propped up against the tree with fair ease. "Hello, I believe the tree decided to drop me." And a slim smile crossed his visage, at least he found the idea that was forming in his head amusing, but his eyes turned on the other and the flask. "And my rescuer, you might be who exactly?"
It was so odd to see someone even pause to help another in this city, perhaps the blood of some of these folks haven't yet turned to glass and blistered their hearts.
Smiling in a genial way even though it was just slight on his lips, Senfaust chuckled softly under his breath, "Definitely, not a pidgeon or name so. Is there something of that creature that I remind you of it?"
He then added, a slight accent woven in his speech, as he offered the flask, "I am Senfaust. Here's some water if you're feeling parched. And what is the name of the fallen angel?"
Glancing up momentarily at the tree then back at the individual, "Are you here often?"
Koel flicked a finger at the black feather petaling that laced the four wings decoring the other's body. But did not utter a word about the ocursed birds, it wasn't the time and place.
However he did take the water, he was fairly thristy for the apple dried his mouth to the core with its bitterness found common in Granny Smith. He drank a few gulps before feeling the nag of his voice returning. "Senfaust?" Repeated Koel a slight tilt to the head. "Although I can't see how I might be mistaken for an angel, my name is Hes, Koel Hes." He however did chuckle at the idea of his scaley corpse being considered a feathered beauty found in ancient cathedrals.
He handed the flask back with a slight nod and propped his back straight. "Its comfortable." And he patted the tree's roots with the loyalty of an old friend. "What about you? Grace the park often?"
Taking the silence on the pidgeon topic without a stumble, he settled beside the dragon by sitting on a nearby root, his wings brushing lightly against Koel's shoulders as he did so. Feeling a bit better himself for getting out of the direct sunlight, he pushed his sunglasses up on his head and soft chuckle, "Perhaps... But not all angels have to have feathers. For all I know, you could be an angel in guise."
"Koel Hes," Senfaust said with a smile, capping the flask after taking a small drink himself and slipping it into the knapsack, which had been slung off to rest at his feet. "Yours is an interesting and powerful sounding name. Mine is bit long, so please call me Sen or Noctis if you wish."
Leaning on his shoulder against the tree as his wings prevented him from resting against his back comfortably, he shook his head, "I enjoy nature untouched by the hands of Man, but I am not often prone to float through it during the daylight hours."
Laughing somewhat in a sad manner, "As much I would like to... Alas, I am photosensitive over long light exposure. The night is hour when I give my leisurely presence. Today was one of the exceptions... I ran out of herbs."

[| A Silent Night (cont'd) |] 2K5.07.23 Laisewiel & Senfaust Raising an eyebrow, she gave a forced laugh, wincing slightly as she did so. "Well, with a reason like that... How -could- I refuse?"
Shaking her head, she pushed off the tree she was against and returned her daggar back to its sheath before walking past the individual. Turning to look over her shoulder, she said, "I'm sorry. I cannot help you. Not now as I've other things to tend to."
Vanishing into the shadow's of the night, her voice rang one last time, "We will meet again should you need my help still. Until then, may the Fates be with you, Senfaust Veramis the Dark Phoenix."
Catching the sarcasm and realizing that there would be no success--there was no way that he would fight her in the condition she was in to get her to listen further to his proposition.
Shocked as he heard her address him by his full name, he attempted to find out how she knew but then realized that he could not locate her. He could not even hear or sense her presence anymore, even though it was just mere moments that he had hear her.
Hearing her voice speak up again, he paused and listened to her, trying to locate her. However, as she had faded into the shade of the forest, he simply shrugged and sighed softly and smiled up at the sky, which peeked at him from between the tree leaves. "Well, if that's how it'll be for now. So be it."

[| A Silent Night (cont'd) |] 2K5.08.23 Senfaust As the night was still young, he took to the air to make for the nearest city. He was in need of their library's immense wealth of knowledge. There was a chance that he might be able to find a clue here or there alluding to the relic of mind-haunting's location.
The evening's cool breath wafted around him, but didn't chill him. Landing in the city's outskirt farmlands, he continued the remaining distance on foot. He had no wish to scare humans into thinking that he might be an Angel of Death or any other terrorizing being. If he had more control over his form, he could revert to one of his other two forms--phoenix or human--however, that not being an option, he opted for looking as unimposing as possible.
Earthlight did little to his complexion. He was pale in day without his covering make-up, but he was even paler during the nights with a full moon. The earthlight did bring out soft highlights of azure a hint of red in his hair. The night in general was his favorite time of the day, but he did not have the luxury often times to live within it as he needed money to live. And since the humans and many of the Dou resided in the light, he tailored his work and living schedule to it.
However, tonight was special. He was alloted a break for a couple days and he planned to spend it in the most enjoyable manner as he could. Senfaust snapped from his musings as he entered the city. He could feel the eyes of the few humans around on him, following him, but he easily ignored them and walked toward the great library in the city.
