It's somthing simple, but very crucial in a basketball game. Foul Shots are a big part of the game, and if you can't make them, one day you might cost your team the game. As many of you should know, you're gonna get fouled in a game, and when this happens and you go to the line, line up your shot, there is a nail on one of the boards, this is the dead middle of the foul line, making it easy for you to line up your shot. Soread your feet apart with shouldar width, and shoot the ball, hopefully put osme arch into it so you can swoosh it. Don't depend on the backboard for this shot, it's not smart to use the back board to make a free throw. Try not to jump when you shoot it, even if you'are little, just put more power into it, don't jump, this could cause you to jump over the line. Remember, consistancy is major with free throws, you make the first one, you should be able to make the second. Also, afte shooting your last foul shot, go in with a follow through, if you think it's gonna miss, run tot he hoop and make it up, if not, get down court on defence.

Well actually my coach told me not to jump at the free throw line not because I will go over but that I would have a greater chance at moving my hand when I shoot it. You have to keep the ball high when you shoot it too.

Any idea why it seems harder for big men to hit foul shots? Not just that, but in fact jump shots and especially three pointers. Not all big men are bad at this, but in general they seem worse than shorter players.

Bigmen don't think they need to have to shoot. But they need to learn sooner or later. I finally have a good jumper, and it's better than some of my small forwards and I play center. At my school game, the other team literally won from foul shots, we had to foul them to stop the clock and get the ball back, butt hey made all of their shots, so we lost. But also, it's wierd, Bigman hav all the power,t hey should be the ones at the three, not the litle guys that can't hardly get the ball to the hole.

Exactly. It confuzes me. I guess the have the range, but as you said, it is accuracy that they don't seem to think is necessary. That doesn't go for all big men of course.

Because they do not have control and finesse of their hands as small men do. Dirk and Yao are exceptions.

shooting free throws becomes easy when you have the right shooting form.a perfect form is like the form of sam cassel.his shooting form is probably perfect.

Do a prefoul shot ritual. I always do it when I go to the line. If your on a team, your coach SHOULD do some free throw drills with you guys.
