I may not be the proper person to tell you anything, as I was only a crew member in Reality for a very short time in its beginnings, but allow me to speak only my part. This is only one explanation. I say "AN" explanation, because it is only one. Please do not think that it is the only explanation for what has happened.

Many of you may already be aware if you've had any discussions with my mother, engineer-of-doom.

The destruction of your guild has been the result of Randroids, those who follow the philosphy of Objectivism invented by a, in my opinion, vulgar woman named Ayn Rand. Monadanock, bluecherry, and Sein_Ist, are all Objectivists.

The truth is, all your hard work, the subforums you have upkept, the people you have invited, the threads you've made, the gold you've donated, are all being usurped. Everything you've done is now benefit for a single person alone (or perhaps three), that of Sein_Ist, Monadanock, and bluecherry. The guild has been renamed, you have all been demoted, and likely your subforums will follow. What was once Reality is now only a propaganistic guild for promoting Objectivism and its greatness.

This seems unfair. After all, none of you supported this Objectivism while you worked to improve Reality. You were never informed that this might occur if you did work for Reality. But it is the Objectivist way, and Monadanock, Sein_Ist, and bluecherry are all Objectivists. And the only thing that matters to an Objectivist is self-improvement, self-preservation, self-indulgence, and self-love. And so, Reality has been snatched away from you, so that they can use it for their own selfish ideas.

The only reason I go to that guild is for the Marketplace Hangout. If it's not there I don't know if I'll go there at all. gonk

Do you know anything about objectivism that you haven't heard from your mother or read in an antagonistic pamphlet? Objectivists are people who, it is true, hold dear the ideals of Ayn Rand. Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged, or the Fountainhead? Have you ever done any research into objectivism?

Objectivism is the anti-communism. Objectivism is the idea that you don't have to give something that you earn--your life's work--to people who decide that it is not only their privilege, but their right. Reality is an idea in itself--reality is logic, reality is what works. Communism does not function. If everybody gives everything to everyone else, you never have anything. (Whatever you get, you keep giving. You're all so busy pushing it away that you never recieve crap.) Capitalism is the financial system of objectivists--true capitalism, where you don't give out things, and where there are monopolies, not because you want to drive up the prices to an insane rate because you can, but monopolies because one person is the only one who makes products that perfectly.

Objectivism. Objectivism is about preserving yourself--not getting so caught up in sacrificing yourself for that petty child across the street who you hate, or the guy who always steals your damn coffee, or the equivalent (a person who you can't stand, and wouldn't mind if they just curled up and died one day) that you kill yourself for their sake. It's about acknowledging that you are good. Ever heard that you can't take a compliment? Being able to accept praise--especially from yourself--for something that you know is good is a high point. It's being able to accept when you're good. It's being honest with yourself, not lying and downplaying your achievements when you KNOW that they're the best. It's also not trying to say that you're the best when you aren't; it's trying to be the best. You cannot be dishonest with yourself and still be an objectivist.

Ayn Rand escaped from Russia during the beginning of the Communistic time. She wrote her books to indicate that Communism, both the ideal and what the Russian--sorry, Soviet Union's--leaders turned it into, is a horrible concept. The irony is that the majority of the U.S., for many years, regarded Communism as evil--but they also cannot stand Ayn Rand. Her personal philosophy of objectivism shows a way of true democracy and rationality--of the only way that it is possible for anyone to live. Everything else turns you into a shell.

If you don't want to be in the guild, then quit it. If the high ranking upsets you, then try to get it changed. But the guild is set up the way it is. It's politer of the captains/vice-captains to let you know about changes, but it's not necessary. Maybe you expected them to, but it was never directly stated that they would. Accept it. Go make another guild--especially if they give you your gold back. If you all make a new guild, and all of you join it, then it'll get a high ranking, too. rolleyes

Actually, I have read The Fountainhead, and while it was an excellent written piece of work, Rand tended to ramble about "he knew that she knew that he knew" etc. That's why the book was so long.

And did I say that I'd give myself up for some lousy joe on the sidewalk? Hell no, those bastards ought to go get a job or be shot. One or the other. I happen to be Libertarian, and that doesn't automatically associate me with Rand and following her snivelling to her grave. I like Capitalism, and I believe everyone should get what they worked for. That's what's wrong with this whole situation. A bunch of people worked hard on their subforums (not including me, btw) and they are being shoved out and replaced. That's not Objectivism. That's stealing.

As for your LAST paragraph. I OWN this guild. In the 6th position on the registry. Two spots under "Reality." Maybe YOU should do your homework too. xd
