I'm new here and just thought I'd post my recent stuff. Feel free, nay, encouraged to crit! O', Most Sane Til... A Self-portrait done in acyrlics on masonite board. The background is horrible and I may re-do it. The picture is slightly blurry as this is quite too large for a scanner. Prom Night Prismacolor markers on bristol board. I'm no good at hands. Blah. I'm not used to making happy pictures. This was for my boyfriend for Christmas. Her(well, my) neck is a bit odd. That is just a challenging angle. Cough up a Lung I know the lines aren't straight, I'll probably re-do this whole thing on my tablet. And the picture quality is crap. I need to get to my scanner. Stupid vacation. But I thought it was an interesting idea, anyway. That's how I felt all Christmas. Marionette Prismacolor markers on Bristol board. Again, the picture is kind of blurry. This is my first attempt with the prismacolor markers, so the background didn't turn out the way I want. But the figure I thought was ok.

whoa. i <3 them all!
i'm all about the whole "coughing up a lung" thing. it makes me chuckle.
i think probably my two favorites are the first and the last. i think the background works well in both instances. the only thing i can really say about the last one is the thigh is too long and the forearm is too long. but you really did an awesome job with that pose. it would have given me fits xd

The first is my favourite. You can see the paint, always a draw for me. There is definitely a clash between foreground/background.

I'm going to have to work on backgrounds. I know I have to re-do it, but I just don't know how to fix it. This will take much contemplation.
I don't think I've ever done a really good background.

I've been working on my AP concentrations and I just finished two. Thank god they're done. sweatdrop The concept of my concentrations is something along the lines of "Everyone has their battles to fight." Identity Crisis I love this one. Hasn't just about everyone just wanted to rip off their own skin or is that just me? Plague This one frusterated me quite a bit. The anatomy is still off. But at least that guy no longer looks like a gorilla like he did last night. ^_^ Felt like sharing. I also redid Marionette but it's not done yet.

whoa, these are disturbing and i love it mrgreen
i really like the first one, quite a lot. a lighter background, however, could make the subject pop a little more, but it could also take away from the gothic feel of the peice, so maybe just leave it, lol.
as far as the second one, i'm loving everything except, i'm sure, the parts which have frustrated you (for me, its that hand on the knee; other than that, everything works well). i really like the...everything. i dunno, it just appeals to me somehow.

More AP concentrations! >_< I did both of these... last week. Two paintings a week kinda sucks. Self Destructive: #7 (Don't ask where the other 4 are.) It's really not about self-injury, though everyone gets the impression it is. It's about self-destructive decisions. My view of people who are self destructive is that they're usually pretty apathetic. The skin tones are not consistent, though. But, it's due soon. So whatever. Shame: #8 My camera refused to take a nice picture of this. And her right (your left) arm is a wee bit out of proportion. Shame. She's trying to hide it. She can't even meet your eyes. Even as she's trying to pull herself together, she covers herself trying to keep her modesty. I guess it was a play on how the number one most shameful thing to people seems to be a woman's sexuality.

The paint handling matches the subject in places here. It's brutal, and that's not a criticism coming from me wink
Subject and themes rarely interest me too much; what I like is painting itself. You've probably heard teachers talking about Cézanne carving images out of the canvas; that's what you've got here and it works. I hope you never find yourself wanting a perfect, illustrative, finish.

i've got to go with Doug on this one: these paintings are awesome. this rougher style really does well with you. i really, really like Shame. the depiction is raw and realistic. it's really touching (and i don't mean that in a "fuzzy bunny" way; it's a surreal picture of a real thing, easy to relate to). if you're doing 2 paintings a week, you should definitely post more 3nodding

Yeah, I'm no good at "perfect" or clean. I'll take my room, my boys, and my art grungy and messy, thank you. I've been doing almost all of my portfolio on messy, used masonite. You can't see it too well in the picture, but there's tape and slits and all kinds of texture in there that I'm quite fond of. I need to get pictures of some more of my portfolio. They're at school so I'll do it eventually and post them here. It's just been this week and last week that it's been two a week. And I'm not making deadline this week. >_< Otherwise it's been one a week. EDIT: Concentration 9: Insanity One of my quicker ones. I think this took me like 4 hours tops. I, umm, like the composition. I might fix it up to be more interesting. Oh, and random things aren't done like her hair and the side of her face. Umm, yay for deadlines?

I know. I do read the forums here about every day. But I haven't had any new artwork finished and I'm feelng antisocial.
Out of the three paintings I've started this month I've finished none of them. This is bad. >_< Senioritis!
