A light tan figure could be seen hopping in the talls grasses, the soft call of a grasshopper heard with each movement. His copper brown mane kept getting into his eyes and he would lose sight of where the critter had jumped off to this time. He stretched out his tand and white paws in hopes of finally catching the little bugger.
He missed again. "I'm gonna get'cha this time," he said, crouching down low and wiggling his appaloosa colored rear in the air. He prepared his stance and leapt at the grasshopper one more time, not in the least looking where he would land.

A sudden hiss came forth from the tall grasses as his paws landed the final time, clearly a female with the whine that followed soon after. The adolescent had been slumbering softly in the grasses, just relaxing in the sun and around the heat waiting for something to happen. And clearly it did as she was yanked from her dreams of her home by the sharp pain that spun up her spine.
Tears pricking her ice blue eyes, she stood and lifted her tail gingerly in the air, turning her head to catch and see if it was broken or not. Seeing it just a bit bruised yet otherwise unhard, she let out a soft sigh and turned to find who had 'attacked' her, eyes holding no anger but just slight interest. When she saw the larger male, her cheeks suddenly warmed and she felt a bit silly for her actions prior. Hopefully he didn't see the charade she had done when she jumped into the air.

Sumilyth took several steps back from what he had landed on, practically falling on his haunches in surprise. He watched her closely with golden eyes as she examined her tail. He glanced down at his own large paws, cursing to himself about injuring a young lady. He shook his head and moved towards her, his tail tucked low to the ground in an apologetic manner.
"My apologizes for injuring such a beautiful creature. I hope I didn't mar anything too terribly. If I have, I would still find it tasteful to your character. May I ask the name of the injured party?" He bowed his head politely and took his time under half lidded eyes to examine the beauty before him. She was indeed very stunning, even with a slight blush visible.

Maw opening slightly in alarm, she just stood in silence as he spoke before promptly shutting her mouth and shaking her head. Her tail sunk between her legs as a meek expression followed the disagreement and she softly spoke out with a very light voice.
"No no no, please don't blame yourself, my tail is fine!" As if to prove it, she took a step to the side and waved it, "See, everything is quite alright..."
Her blush rising as she watched him bow, she just took a deep breath and lowered her head to catch his eyes, unsure of just why he wanted to speak at that level.
"My name is Nephthys...may I learn your own?"

He brought his head back up with a charming smile and moved towards her so they weren't so apart. Did she realize how beautiful her eyes were at a closer inspection? "I am glad that you are alright. I would never dream of laying a paw on one so young and vibrant as yourself," he said with a sparkle in his golden eyes.
"I call myself Sumilyth. You have a very wonderful name. It does you justice, Miss Nephthys." He glanced about trying to see where his grasshopper had gone off to. "You see," he started to explain, "I was chasing after a grasshopper before I ran into you. Sometimes I get lost in my own childish games."

Not noticing as he came closer, she just straightened herself up a bit and flashed him another smile at the compliment of her youth and her name. Never did she imagin that it was a flirting comment, and she simply took it all in oblivous stride.
"Sumilyth, it is a pleasure to meet such a male as yourself in these parts. I was worried there would be no other lions around, but I clearly was mistaken." Softly speaking it out, she looked around again to emphesize her point, before following his gaze and trying to see what he was looking for.
When his reasoning came up, she could help her little giggle that escaped her maw, and shook her head a moment after.
"You seem a bit old to be chasing grasshoppers...aren't you more inclined for finding larger prey instead?"

He turned his golden gaze on her. She really was quite stunning with how her black fur fell close to her eyes. It gave her an older appearance but made her seem so saucy. "Lovely, one is never too young to hunt grasshoppers. There are times when you must fall back on younger days to survive."
He glanced up at the sun and sighed softly. "And that time might very well come soon if the heat doesn't allow some rain. That God of the Sun is doing a marvelous job, a bit overdone though. Soon we'll be charbroiled if he isn't careful." He couldn't help but give a little chuckle, showing he was joking and didn't mean it to sound so dismal and foreboding. He didn't care much for the topic to begin with and so changed it quickly. "How may I entertain you further, lovely."

She followed his gaze to the sun, and the heat became apparent once more. Letting out a soft sigh soonafter, her eyes lowered back to his form and she sent another soft, shy smile. It was true, the sun seemed to dominate the lands these days, and the wet seasons have passed. So used to the damp lands of the Kusini, Nephthys disliked the southlands for the heat and only the heat.
"I fear my own goddess might have grown angry with my travels, for while I am away from my lands, her blessings are few and inbetween..." Looking towards the south a moment, she just let out a deep breath before laughing lightly, "Though I do hope to give my knowledge to my pride when I return, and hopefully bring others back to the lands as well. Being so secluded, we dont have many visitors..."
She than thought over his offer, completly missing the looks he gave and the endearments she received from the male. After a moment, she sheepishly shruged her shoulders.
"I actually have no idea what to do around here...maybe you could show me a few of the landmarks?"

He tilted his head to the side when she spoke of a having a pride. He recalled vaguely that he had once belonged to such a thing, but it was scattered with the rest of his memories in the darkness. He chuckled with her for a few moments, not only to share in the sound of her voice, but at himself as well. Foolish to pine for something you can't remember.
"That makes two of us then, dear. I can't quite remember where anything is here and the only landmarks I know are the most important ones. Water. Everything is so different when there hasn't been any rains, but shall we discover a few together," he said, lifting a paw out before him in a random direction.
"You said you come from the south. What pride is there, if you don't mind me asking."

((Talk about delay ^^; I'm so sorry! I saved the pm though, so I could find this thankfully))
She thought about his offer for a moment, before nodding eagerly and perking up with an excited gleam in her eyes. Looking to where he pointed, she nodded a bit, unsure if he needed a confirmation but providing one anyway.
"I come from the Kusini'Mwezi Pride, our lands are surrounded by many natural walls so it is easy to see why many don't know of us. We don't quite have the open door policy like those of the Pridelands do. But we do get along of course, and though we have few differing families, we still are pretty big and welcoming to those who need a home. In fact, one of my brothers was found as a cub and my mother took him in, and our neighbor was another my mother took in..."
She trailed off, thinking about her mother and all the things the gray lioness had done.

He noticed the slow sadness that seemed to creep into the young lioness's voice when she spoke of her mother. "I don't remember much about that pride. You're probably right though." He needed to get her off this subject and smiling again.
He took a seat on the ground beside her and watched her closely. "You're more beautiful when you smile." He inched closed, scooting his rump across the ground. "Wanna chase a few grasshoppers?"
