Yee I'm going to have to force myself to read it if a season two does come out...

WHAT?! NO WAY!! scream it can't be a girl!! I mean I've been too attached with the characters now! and- and… what about NEAR?!! and I want it to be a guy! if there really is… I'll have to force myself… I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't want any season 2 if it's like that XP

Well, they did it with Tokyo Mew Mew and Hellsing, so...
But in all honesty?
All they're doing, from the sound of it, is slapping the Death Note title on a completely different series.
It might be good, though, so I'm going to remain unbiased.
The girl at the end, though, is Misa. Thats when she kills herself. That information was released in volume 13, the How to Read manual. A lot of people refuse to believe it, though.
The volume 13 takes away a LOT of fandom.

To be fair, Near fans, L was only a secondary character, himself. Yes, he was main, but mostly wasn't from his POV. So if this has anything to do with the Death Notes, Near will most likely be there.

You probably misread it. I read it, and it said that the girl at the end was NOT Misa, just a random kira follower they put in. She just ended up resembling her. They originally weren't going to even show a face, but Takeshi ended up drawing her one anyways. There was a question of what happended to Misa, and Tsugumi had just said 'I don't know, she probably commited suicide.'

Hmm, it'll be interesting to see what her ideals will be and what she intends to accomplish with the Death Note.. Her adversary should be Near. In a way, I guess you can say it could be retribution for Near beating Light. That would be fun to watch.

There was a question of what happended to Misa, and Tsugumi had just said 'I don't know, she probably commited suicide.'It was from an interview, and erien-san is correct it's not misa but a random kira follower, her face was shown as a pretty girl to put in the 'mood' XD (ok maybe that's not right word) *spoiler* and it was said in volume 13 that after matsuda told her about Light's death, after a year she committed suicide.
