At my youth group, they taught about the three legged stool that will help you get closer to Christ. Without three legs, a stool can't stand properly, so here goes:
Leg 1 - Time in Prayer
Leg 2 - Time in His Word (or the bible)
Leg 3- Surrounding yourself with Christian friends
Again, without all these things, you won't be able to stand for Christ as you should.

Another analogy is of a rope with three threads is stronger than one or two alone. This is referring to how marriage needs to be between husband, wife, and God.
