[photo album]pictures of the past and present. Quote: note; The twins relic breaking. Exciting, isn't it? Sadly, I've lost the picture before this. Quote: note; The girls have emerged, cute as can be. Heh, I've gotta say though, Katana looks happier here than she ever has, except when she got Fred and George. [picture coming later] Quote: note; Now they're children. Growing pretty fast, I think. Moriko absolutely adores that fan. And Katana's so silly, latching onto George like that. I didn't really think she'd be so into that plushie.

[possessions]things that we hold close. Quote: A praying mantis, given to Moriko by Aunt Ecavi. Nameless for the most part, just being called Mr. Mantis, and defender of the garden. Otherwise, not much is known about him. Quote: Three How-To Books, given to Katana by Aunt Ecavi. Katana can't really use them anymore, so Moriko reads them when there's something she needs to fix, or Katana's instructions don't make much sense. Quote: Another gift to Katana, from none other than Aunt Ecavi! A bag of buttons, some of which were used on her creation most recent creation, a miniature vacuum cleaner, that was used to clean the Museum. note to self: upload to own server and get other gift images up.

[quest summaries] thurs. june 30, '05. [katana's quest (so far)]
Katana was busily searching the internet for resources on things for cleaning and whatnot, seeing as the museum was in 'dire' need of a good sweep. She had to take in all the possibilities of things that could happen if she didn't build the machine right, too. Fred and George, her faithful assisstants, were always there to lend a helping hand.
Aunt 'cavi had stopped by for a visit, leaving Katana with a few "How-to" books. Kat was more than happy about this, but she didn't really show it. By this time all she needed to do was finish her basic outline of the figure and get a few supplies (i.e; wires, plastic, cleaning stuff). That meant going to the closest hardware store or ordering things.
That's where I'll start off next post.
[moriko's quest (so far)]
Moriko's garden was dying, and she didn't know the cause of it. She'd kept it watered, in good sunlight and done everything else she could think of. When Moriko came to use the household computer, Katana suggested a bug could be the problem. (Which is just like Katana, wanting to keep the computer to herself.) The organic thule took note of this, and ran off to her garden to, literally, dig up a few things.
When Aunt 'cavi came to visit and gave Katana a gift, likewise, Moriko got one too. A praying mantis, to be exact. And it seemed more intent on getting out of this 'foreign' place instead of helping Moriko out. But it came around eventually, after Moriko's constant whining and the mention of a bug.
So the team will see about this strange creature in the garden in the post after Katana's.

[katana's quest] part three, the finale."I am growing impatient, Koko. Wake up already, will you?"
Katana prodded the sleeping figure on the couch. It looked as if she'd given up on cleaning, but that wasn't suprising. Koko stirred a bit, mumbling an odd phrase - something along the lines of ''Mommy, I want my buttercup.'' Katana's eye twitched in irritation. "Buttercup or no buttercup, you are going to get up and take me to the hardware store." If Katana didn't need Koko, she probably would've up and left by now.
"Alright, alright, I'm going. Don't rush me," the thule heard Koko's complaint as she sat up. "What's so important about some hardware store? I got you a kit for Christmas."
"I need a few more things than a hammer and a wrench." Katana tapped her foot, staring up at her caretaker. She hated it when Koko questioned her, but that's what she did. All the time.
Koko scratched behind one of her ears, fighting back a yawn. "There was plenty more than that. There was a screwdriver, too. Like fifty million different sizes.." She knew that wasn't the truth. There were only about three, last time she checked. ''This must have something to do with that thing she's making, then.'' Koko thought it over for a moment.
Maybe.
"Fine. If you're so intent on going, I'll take you. How much is this stuff going to cost?"
The mech shrugged and started walking for the front door. Koko blinked, hopping off the couch, almost tripping, in pursuit. Probably over something she didn't pick up during her five minute cleaning spree. Katana snorted, seeing as it was her caretaker's own fault for not watching where she was going. But this was about her supplies for building the cleaning robot, not Koko's antics.
It was official. Katana had had many questions about the hardware store, since she'd really never been to one. But now she knew, and this was officially the best place in the world. There were so many things there; things she hadn't seen before.
Katana took note of the directions, because she'd have to come back sometime. But now, as she strode through the store and various lanes, she needed to find her equipment. Koko just leaned against a shelf, watching the 'thule shuffle through the store. "C'mon, hurry up. I don't have all day, I've gotta get to work soon."
Koko actually has a job? I hadn't noticed.
Katana smirked slightly, continuing on her way. Though, she had to admit, it was kind of hard to look for things on shelves when she only about two feet tall. Curse the burden of being so small.
"I could use some help, you know." Koko sighed, lightly pushing off of the shelf, knocking a couple cans over in the process. She blinked, but quickly came in step behind Katana, not feeling like picking anything up. Katana looked at her caretaker oddly, but said nothing.
Once again, they were home. Katana sat the back of supplies on her little table in the tool shed, not to far away from her plans. She glanced at the plans, and then started looking for the books she'd been given.
After finding the books and skimming through them, Katana had found what information she needed, and started work once more on her mechanical helper. It wouldn't be too hard. She'd built something like that for Moriko - which was now in dire need of maintenence. Of course, the two had, or would have, different tasks to complete and would be different sizes and shapes.
Fred and George assissted her in every way they could. And, them being plushies, that meant barely anything. They were merely there for support purposes, in case Katana had doubted anything she built into the machine. And when she crossed the wires, seeing as that could hurt somebody, but she was mostly all right if you took in the fact that she herself was mechanic.
In all honestly, hours later, when the machine was almost complete, it didn't look all that bad.
Or all that great.
After making a fuss about going to the hardware store, looking on the internet for all kinds of examples and going through multiple sketches, one would think it would be a spectacular sight.
It was basically a sphere, though. A baseball-sized sphere.
Then again, one should have been happy that Katana hadn't made it extremely hard to operate. The plan was, you stuck it on a platform after a day's work to recharge (while the platform itself collected solar energy - backup was electricity, and if the power''s out, you're out of luck), and then took it off when more cleaning was needed. There were no buttons on it, as it ''knew'' what it was programmed to do. Therefore, all you'd have to do was let it go.
It had a few compartments here and there, containing a mini-feather duster, wheels to move on, and other equipment, but nothing too obvious (except the part where you plugged it in).
Katana admired her handiwork, holding up the buzzing sphere - it sensed that dust was there, and had to clean, clean, clean!
"Hm. One of the minor aspects, but that is what the platform is for."
She'd to stop by the museum soon, and run this idea by whoever it was who ran it. Hopefully, they'd like it, and she wouldn't have to be bothered with making another one. But, if worse came to worse, she could always let this one stay here. Koko needed a little help with the cleaning - disregarding Tokyo, because the elf couldn't do everything.
ooc; i don't know if they have wiring or anything in a hardware store. i don't really go to them. no need. and i was lacking in creativity for the design of the mini-vac. that'll have to do?

[moriko's quest] part three, the finale.Moriko twiddled her thumbs impatiently, trying peer through the flowers and leaves. She'd let the mantis go free through the garden a while ago. It was taking too long for her tastes, seeing as she wanted her garden to be healthy again, as soon as possible. Praying mantises were relatively strong, right? For bugs, anyway. Then again, what if it was in trouble?
Strong as Mr. Mantis might have been, the other bug could've been bigger, and tougher, making it difficult for the poor darling. The organic 'thule couldn't help but wonder or be worried. She pouted, and tried not to think of the worst, but of her flowers and plants being rejuvenated, and Mr. Mantis getting rid of the intruder.
Meanwhile, said praying mantis was puttering through the garden.
Maybe he should have just up and left while he could've. Flown away and never have to see the strange orange creature again. Then again, the prospect of food was always tempting.
Though food had not been spotted. The supposed bug was nowhere to be seen, and Mr. Mantis didn't like that. The orange creature had promised food, and had not delivered. Now, he was going to leave - waltz right out of these plants, that he would!
.. Or maybe food hadn't come because it saw him? Then he could not blame the orange creature, only the fact that he could've scared food away. His eyes had not spotted food, so it must have been good at hiding. Mr. Mantis would have to pretend to leave, but only hide within the confines of a plant.
Though, with the dulling colors everywhere, there wasn't much chance of that plan working, since Mr. Mantis was one of he brightest of greens. But he would try it, oh yes, and he would succeed. Or so he hoped.
"That's it, I can't take it!"
Moriko was a wreck, tugging at fistfulls of strands of her hair, though careful not to damage the flower resting peacefully there. If she couldn't take care of her garden right, the least she could do was take care of that.
And what of Mr. Mantis? It had been to long, she had to look for him. She brushed away parts of the plants, careful not to hurt anything further, and careful of the thorns on the roses. Sooner or later, she felt something that seemed to be an antennae. Her eyes lit up, not even thinking of the possibility that it wasn't her praying mantis friend.
And - wouldn't you know it? - it wasn't.
When she lightly tugged on the antennae, as so not to harm the 'poor darling,' she screeched rather loudly when a strangely colored insect crawled halfway up her arm.
"WAHH!" She jumped and stumbled backward, and in the process, made the insect drop from its spot on her forearm (which it seemed to have liked).
Then she noticed Katana looking worriedly at her from the door of the shed. Moriko tried to regain her composure, for her sister's sake, not wanting her too worry, and smiled. Added a bit of a wave, too, as she was stepping away from the bug that was now crawling towards her. Slowly, but surely.
That hadn't reassured Katana in anyway, Moriko could tell, but her sister left her alone.
Mr. Mantis had also heard the scream, and seen the orange creature meddling in his 'territory'. (Well, while he was in it, it was his.) Ah ha! Food had wandered off. And food was after the orange creature? Food must have been hungry, too, but Mr. Mantis didn't think the orange creature was for eating.
Mr. Mantis flitted his way in front of the insect, ready to fight it. The insect, on the other hand, was not.
Moriko could only watch as Mr. Mantis, er, well, chased the other insect around the yard, moving out of the way every time they even came close to her, because the last things she wanted was something inhabiting her arm. She waved her summer fan as a way of cheering her little friend on, but he probably didn't understand that.
It was all rather funny, actually. Until seconds later, when Mr. Mantis caught the insect, breaking its shell - which was easily done - and making it absolutely defenseless before--
".. Ew. That's just.."
At that point, Moriko decided to look away. And tend to her garden, of course. How the insect had done what it did, she couldn't possibly know, but she might have to do a lot of work to make sure it got better.
"I'll be up all day doing this and it's already really late and there's no way I'm going to fix it!" She whined hopelessly. But she knew nature had a way of fixing itself. Maybe her garden would be lucky? Who knows? In any case, she had Mr. Mantis to protect it.
Just as long as he warned her, in any way, before he.. Y'know. Ate another insect, because that's not a pretty sight.
ooc; it's official. i made the mantis sound demented. and you know i'm not about to write a scene about a praying mantis devouring another insect.

[looking back]Quote: It's odd. One day passes, and the next I'm waking up to find myself with what seemed to be a mechanical arm! And my wings, they weren't feathery anymore. Which isn't fair, because I really liked those wings. But these are pretty, too. Like a fairy's, even! But, er, it was only a matter of time until I noticed that Katana herself wasn't really there in the room, but I could hear her, as always. She wasn't as frantic as me. Then again, she's normally calmer than I anyway. But I wasn't the only one. Koko almost dropped something when I came running down the stairs. Typical. She's always dropping stuff, crashing into things, and tripping; which means she doesn't need my help in that department. Anyway. I still don't get why it happened, or what exactly happened. Koko tried to explain, but she wasn't exactly very good with her words. She probably didn't know what she was talking about. I'd rather have seen a professional who deals with disappearing sisters and randomly appearing mechanical arms. You know, out of all the people and things that live in this house, not one of them knows anything about machines. I mean, other than Katana. Ever since she became a voice inside my head, she's been trying to teach me how to put things together and how to perform maintenance on my little garden helper. No offense, but I'd rather stick to feeding the cat than fixing stuff. That's not counting Letters, but, technically, he is some type of cat, isn't he? But she's given me something simple to do. Taking care of Fred and George will be a peace of cake. They're her prized possessions, and it's my duty to look after them in her absence-- that's what she says, and so that's what I will do. She's not really missing, but since there's no actual physical embodiment, I'm stuck. Maybe I'm going to start talking like her, too. And, um, that's about it for now. I hope I didn't forget anything.

[winter's a wonderful thing]The house was aglow with lights; it was suprising Koko had even bothered to put up the tree and hang the many other festive objects around the house. Not before Tokyo's dusting spree, of course. Regardless, it got done.
Days later, Koko was rushing to finish off her orders for the bakery. One would think that would be done in the bakery itself. Gingerbread men and other assorted cookies, along with cupcakes, brownies and bars that even Koko herself didn't know about. Who'd ever thought of merry meringues or cappuccino cream cheese brownies anyway? Those people better have been glad she had fun baking, or else she wouldn't have bothered looking up those stupid recipes. But she thanked the people who wanted things she actually knew about.
While Koko was baking, no one wanted to go into the kitchen, except for if they just had to take a peek at what she was making. In the end, that managed to get finished without any casulties.
The only difficult part would be getting all the plates and trays and whatever else she had to the bakery. Koko had to pack all of the containers into bags, so the job was made easier, but she didn't like the fact that she had to carry four. That way she was bound to crush some of the cookies, she knew it, and then that would mean angry customers.
All in all, that would lead to an angry Koko baking some of those terrible, confusing things all over again. And then there might actually be a casulty in the kitchen this year.
While she walked out of the kitchen, bags in hand, Koko barely managed to see two of the most dangerous members of the house surround her, best they could. Them being fairly small, and herself being, well, taller.
One of them, the Furrlex, started a mantra: sugar, candy, cookies! The other, the fennec fox, happily offered to take the treats off her and deliver them himself, but Koko wouldn't let Felix go anywhere by himself, much less with sugar.
She shook her head, smiling, and said that she'll make something special for the both of them before Christmas came. The mantra stopped, and the offers stopped as well, as they both turned to face eachother with wide grins. Then the argument of who would get theirs first started. Koko took this as an opportunity, and continued on her merry way.
Kari, as she so dubbed herself, ran into Koko as well - thankfully not in the literal term. "Do you need any help with those?" She asked cheerily, as always. Koko nodded, adding on that she would need a coat and stuff, using her old nickname, Ri. "Kari," the merged thule pointed out to her caretaker, before going to find said coat and stuff in the chaos that was Koko's home. Koko playfully stuck her tongue out at Kari when her back was turned.
Still, the delivery itself went well; both had been carrying two bags, which Koko found to be a comfortable number. While they were at the bakery, Kari snuck a few treats, knowing very well that Koko would never make some of them ever again, unless she had to. Felix and Jazz would be happy if they got some, too, no matter what Koko promised.
When all that was said and done, they really didn't have anything else to do.
"What now?"
"Don't worry about that, Ri," said Koko, ignoring the thule's correction. "I think we should go spread a little holiday cheer, don't you?"

[journal]Quote: When Koko said we were going to spread Christmas cheer, I wasn't exactly sure what she meant. I'd heard of caroling, sure, but I didn't really want to sing for total strangers. (Actually, I've never really sung at all.) I was definately glad when we reached a familiar place. I think Koko dislikes caroling anyway. Well, we went to Aunt 'cavi's home, you know? The visit itself was interesting, especially when we had to explain the whole merging thing. It went over well, really. I half wish we could've stayed a little longer; Koko and Ceri were having a lot of fun, or at least it sounded like they were, from what she told me. Oh. I fixed Myze's hairpins. With the help of Katana, of course. I hope they're just as good as they were before and she likes them. Hopefully we'll get to see them again sometime soon, but I doubt it. Also, I got this cute little catepillar plushie from them. It's sitting on my dresser! Very considerate of them. Um. I've got nothing left to say. So, bye.

Christmas was as per usual at the Madhouse, as it had been affectionally named. Chaos reigned in the form of children and animals, some of which were high off of sugar, but we won't go there. The tree was seemingly lit up brighter than the sun itself, what with the lights bouncing of the glass ornaments.
It wasn't so painful once you got used to it.
After the festivities were over, and it seemed as if they would never end, wrapping paper littered the floor (along with colorful ribbons and those annoying plastic cases that secure dolls and such). Koko complained that this holiday made her poor, very poor, while Tokyo complained that she did not want to clean up the entire mess.
Sigh.
Though the holiday made Koko spend a lot of money, she didn't want to dissapoint her family, and she was estatic when she saw the joy on their faces. Really. As for Tokyo, the cleaning really didn't bother her, but she'd rather it not be so much; after her hard work, she deserved a break every once in a while.
That's how Kari saw it.
They complained too much, in her opinion. She tried to drown out the females' griping by hiding in her room and shoving a pillow over her head. It didn't work. Augh. Kari didn't see how everyone else could ignore them and go on about their usual business, with an added accessory or two. Then again, she'd been in the Madhouse less than most others, suprising as it was; she just grew faster.
Regardless, it was annoying.
Would there ever be peace?

[journal]Quote: It's been a while, hasn't it? Spring is here, it seems, and Mother Nature has smiled down on my garden! It's looking wonderful again, with all its vibrant colors slowly coming back. I'm glad. I've been tending to it a lot lately; I hope that doesn't make the plants, er, sick again. That makes me worry. Hm. I got to paint eggs! For Easter. (We didn't hide them, just put them in a basket. Didn't feel like doing it in the house, and when we wanted to go outside, we thought Joey might trip over some. Heh, he's a very clumsy bird.) It was fun. Felix and I made a couple that looked like animals, his first one being a fox, of course. After that, I think he painted some to look like fruit; watching him do that was interesting. What else?Nevermind. I've got nothing else to write about, so I'll just go see if there's something I can do elsewhere.
