Okay, so this real life friend of mine is semi-oversensitive. She just had a connversation with a Gaia buddy. I'd like to know what YOU think. 3nodding A N is my friend, I don't know this other person. A N E H A N E H A N E H Why don't you think that he exists? confused I can't imagine my life without him. 3nodding He has been better to me than I deserve, that's for sure. biggrin I'm not raised surrounded by people who told me he existed, that's why. 3nodding I believe there was a man named Jesus a long time ago, but I also believe he was just a man and nothing more. sweatdrop
I hope you don't think I'm trying to offend you, because I'm not. heart So you don't believe because everyone else doesn't believe? That doesn't seem like a good reason to risk your soul. You don't think that Jesus was the Son of God but you do believe that he existed? That doesn't make much sense either, to me. sweatdrop So you don't believe the bible either right? I am not trying to attack you, I just want to undersand. 3nodding I believe there wzs a man named Jesus that lived a long time ago like there was a man named Napoleon a long time ago. In a few thousand years, people could be worshipping Napoleon like they're worshipping jesus now because the true story got lost and because the story was told over and over again, he seems like a god in the stories while he was just a good man.
I believe people believe in God because it's part of their life like speech. The people who raised them taught them. If they would have been raised by other people who don't believe in God, they wouldn't miss a thing. Risk my soul? I doubt that, actually. There are enough people out there who don't believe either. Some people are famishing (in Africa for example) and I doubt they'll burn in hell because they haven't said their priars.
I have actually heard bits of the bible. 3nodding My grandparents (my dad's parents) are Christians and I love them. 3nodding I just don't believe it's true.
He confuzed the language or something? No way. People were scattered across the planet and all developped their own language. He made Eve from Adam's rib? Nope. People come from monkey-like creatures. I've read bits from the origin of species and it's a lot more assumable than the bible to me. 3nodding Well, Jesus was a bit different than Nepolioen. Jesus fulfilled over 300 profisies that where in the Old Testament about the Christ for one thing. We don't worship Jesus now just because he was a good man but because he was the Christ, the Son of the one and only living God. Few people now a days are not exsposed to Jesus Christ. Even in Africa there are missionaries. And saying prayers isn't going to get you into heaven anyway. Being baptized and serving God faithfuly is how you get to heaven. The poeple in Africa aren't going to Hell because they don't say thier prayers, they will go to Hell if they don't turn to God. If they don't "seek him while he can be found" as the bible says. People who are raised by Un-believeing parents do miss out on things. They don't get the same kind of peace and contentment that Followers o Christ have. And most are to coaught up in thier sins to realize it. What do your Grandparents believe? Whay is it so hard to beieve that God (who created everyting in the first place) confused the languages or made woman from man's rib? To not believe that but to call God God would be totally contradictory to yourself. About eveolution, it cannot possibly be true in that it contradicts itself. Example: the whole of the human spicies is suppose to be evolving into a new and stronger being all the time right? If that where true than it would be impossile for people to be born homosexual because those people would automaticly be going against the principle of evolution. However the world continues to claim that people can be born that way but also claim evolution. How is that possible. Too many people confuse evolution with adaptation. Try and answer this with evolution: Where did the big bang or primordial ooze or whatever it is come from? It had to come from somewhere. But God doesn't have to come from somewhere, he has always been. I am getting the feeling you're angry at me now.
I just don't believe in God because he doesn't exist to me. I'm not claiming there was a big bang, I don't know how the earth started to exist but then again: I don't care. It happened long before my time, before anyone's time. I know my grandparents believe in God but that's all I know. I don't have discussions about religion with them because I'm afraid they'll be angry at me for not believing what they believe. Could we please talk about lighter things? I don't want to start the new year knowing you're angry at me for not believing what you do.
It probably sounds like I want to stop talking about this because I don't know what to say and that's true. English isn't my first language, my first language is Dutch. That, and I'm not much of a debater. I just don't and can't believe in God, because it just sounds unreasonable to me.
And homosexuals are the best people ever. Not everyone is homosexual, so there are enough people to keep evolution going. There are far too many people on this planet polluting and ruining it as it is.

a sword held in the name of justice is useless... Well, to me, fighting over religion is just as bad as little children fighting over who has the best imaginary friend. All you can do is hope that they will grow out of that fighting crap. ...unless the hand holding it has the courage to fight for it.

Damien Sparda Well, to me, fighting over religion is just as bad as little children fighting over who has the best imaginary friend. All you can do is hope that they will grow out of that fighting crap. Hopefully (I'm talking in an overall sense about everyone) one day people can learn to pull their heads out of their butts and realize that the time is now. What happens later in the 'afterlife' isn't necesarily a concern for everyone. Religious people living a "good and justly life" and un-religions (or of a different religion) are living a very similar life.

I'm really sick of all these "My religion is better then yours!" idiots floating around. I'm just a believer of everything and nothing. There is an almighty force out there, and all religions potray it different ways, different forms, feminen, masculen, it doesn't matter people! If these people would just shut the hell up and start using all that money their churches have (Catholics have all that gold s**t, and it just lies there colecting dust) to do some good in the world!

Dude, fighting over religions is stupid. But discussing and debating about them isn't! The way I see it, freedom of speach and freedom of religion mean that you have the freedom to talk about your religion. That doesn't mean bashing people... I'm Christian, and even I can't stand it when all these High-And-Mighty guys go bible beating gays. Jesus was all for, like, Judge Not lest Ye Be Judged. That sort of thing. So people who go around doing the judging, that sort of thing gets me steamed. But when it comes to actual discussion, like the possibility that an intelligent entity created the universe, or maybe the value of the Bible in the field of archeology, then I say: Yeah! Let's talk about it!
Diagnosis: Fighting is stupid. Talking is cool. Get over it. Yeah!

In my opinoin, religion is a belif or theory that man made, only to secure or hopefully find salvation or hope after death. I don't worry what happens after death, but I believe people are intitled to their right of worship, I have nothing agaisnt a religious person.

Fighting over religion isn't practical but it's never going away discrimination hate and botherin- um coverting others are built into the three main religions.
As long as it stays out of government I don't care, but in the US it's becoming a problem. We are at war and worring about two guys getting married... WHY GOD?!

religion should only be there to help us make good moral choices and you can beileve in anything or nothing just as long you have a good noral compass. And please show me some where in the bible,Quran, or torah that fighting is ok.

I agree that talking about religion (and not fighting about it) is very good, cause people should keep an open mind and see if any religion fits for them but people should aslo keep an open mind to thoes that have heard enough... But in the end... talking about religion doesn't mean much, because no discussion (argument of civil) will change fact... and eventually, we will all figure out which is right if any... but I somehow doubt that even being a part of that religion will make people any more prepared.

I don't FIGHT about religion.. But those little Christians who think they're better than everyone else and say how because you don't believe in such and such just drives me up the wall. My one thought in all of it: What about animals? Do they all go to hell because they don't worship ________? Do you really think that an animal thinks of anything besides what their instincts drive them to do? So does this argument just include humans?
I see religion as a giant opinion, which everyone is entitled to. 3nodding

I agree with Dr. Hwatt. As a Christian, it continues to burn me up seeing all those who make jack-asses of themselves by beating people over the head with biblical phrases because they don't happen to agree with their beliefs or their way of serving God. I like religious discussion; in fact love hearing about other people's beliefs; so long as it doesn't result in some macho meat-headed 'my God can beat up your God' brawl-fest. xp That's why I try to avoid discussing religion with those who so obviously cling to their own beliefs and don't want to listen to anyone else's opinions if it's in any way different from theirs.
