It was cold, there was no doubt about THAT, but Fortune seemed to be pleased by the fact she was able to build a snowman with her hooves. Her hair was a mass of black, green and fluffy white (which was melting from her heat and causing her hair to become matted) but she really did seem to be having a good time.

"Snoooow man. Do you know who you aaare?" she asked, giggling slightly, "You're Mr. Snow Man Pants. But you don't HAVE pants so that's kind of moot...."

The mare trailed off and sighed. Snow was fun, but it was awful lonely. Especially since as much as she pretended, the snow man didn't talk back.

...It was like deja vu all over again; once again, Safi found himself watching what appeared to be a prefectly normal adult mare acting like a perfectly normal young foal. Only this one was acting slightly odder than the usual young foal.

He'd been standing a few lengths away from the mare, leaning against a tree and watching her antics with the snow-thing for a short bit of time, amused and perplexed enough to want to see where she went with this. But at her sigh, he decided observation time was over.

"It's just like with real two-leggers, isn't it? No matter how much you try, you can't get them to understand and legibly answer!" Grinning, the blue and white stallion waded through the snow over to the green mare, flipping her a little bow of greeting. "Unless you don't want it to reply, in which case I'd say you had the perfect solution!"

"Wha-huh?" Fortune jumped, startled a bit at the sudden voice. Had the snow man suddenly come to life? She looked around frantically for a moment before she noticed Safi and relaxed a bit, her heart still pounding.

That would have been amusing, if not a bit scary. After all, he did have twigs for hands.

"Very good analogy!" Fortune agreed, returning the bow with her own. She, however, fell forward with her bow and landed face first in the snow. Thankfully, it was soft. "Umph. I swear, snow is in a conspiracy against me to make me crazier than I already am!"

Curious and curiouser! "Well, I have to admit this is the first time anyone's ever greeted me with a faceplant!" Grinning, Safi offered a wing to help the mare up, a bit amused by both her shock and her little lack-of-balancing act. "I didn't mean to surprise you, though, so I suppose I owe you an apology for that. But while I AM white, I'm not to my knowledge nor ever have been made of snow, so...you're not TOO crazy."

Winking at the mare, he turned and eyed up the snowman, a bit amused at the twigs and crazy expression. "So, what exactly is up with your snow two-legger, anyway? I've never seen anything like this before, and I've been around once or twice." Sorta.

Fortune couldn't help but smile at the stallion and gratefully took his help standing up, "It's all right. I'm easily spooked, especially when making these little snow things. They don't necessarily look real, but if they were to come to life those little twigs would hurt mighty bad stabbing into my flank, I'll tell you what."

She tossed her head, causing a flurry of snow to flutter down from it and her eyes laughed with her, "I was bored, so I started to nose up the snow and...Well, my nose is damn cold, but at least it gave me something to do. As for being crazy? Well, that's a matter of opinion."

Safi managed to keep a straight face for all of thirty seconds. "If it's any consolation to you, I've never yet witnessed any rampaging snow creations, so without any scientific backup I'd have to say that you ought to be safe from being attacked by your creation. At least, for now."

He liked this mare, indeed he did. She didn't seem to believe in taking herself seriously, and one of the greatest problems with life was that too many Soqs took themselves too seriously. "Trust me when I say that crazy is highly overrated; unless you think you are yourself, then you're not, and it's that simple. Speaking from experience, of course." Not that he'd ever been accused of being crazy, of course....ok, that was a lie.

She tried to keep a straight face. She REALLY, REALLY tried to keep a straight face. It didn't work. Fortune burst out into giggles and flopped over into the snow again, twitching her tail madly and sending a flurry of flakes into the air.

She really needed to stop flopping into the snow.

"You never know," she said, trying to regain a serious expression, "There may be scientific evidence I haven't heard of yet, you know." Her head lifted to look up at him, looking much like a filly who was trying to learn to walk with the way she was laying.

"I believe I'm crazy, but in a fun, happy sort of way. Not the scary, I'm going to kill you kind of way. So that's good, right?" A smile.

Wow, either he was on fire (metaphorically speaking, of course) or this mare had a decent appreciation for humor. Or maybe both, who knew? Last thing that Safi wanted to do was try and draw unfounded conclusions.

However, even though he was itching to crack up at the sight of the mare floundering like a fish out of water in the snow, he had a hunch he could run farther with this. Serious and solemn expression on his face, he shook his head. "Unless it's available to the masses, then at best it's hypothetical scientific information, which is of no great use to society unless you want to create mass paranoia; some might like that, but paranoia makes people decidedly more stodgy, wouldn't you say?"

One blue eyebrow quirked slightly at the mare before his infectious grin kept back. "And some might argue that flopping about in the snow repeatedly is a sign of homicidal tendencies. Or else hypothermic tendencies. So regardless of your declaration there...should I be running?"

This was too rich. Fortune had likely just found her best friend, in all honesty. Nobody had managed to make her laugh this much, despite admittedly NOT having much contact with people, it was nice.

Now it was her turn to keep from cracking up, "Oh, indeed. But mass paranoia could be very amusing to watch people wandering around with sticks of fire in fear that a dreaded snow creature would pop up and stab their flanks with sticks. Interesting picture, indeed. Perhaps they're holding back on the mass paranoia in fear that the world would be set afire?"

That was too much, though, and Fortune let out another round of giggles, "Indeed, you should run! Of course, with one who has homicidal or hypothermic tendancies, you never know if they'll chase you or just bury themselves in the snow! And even then, you won't know if they're burrowing after you."

"I have to admit, I at least would be very concerned at random people toting around fire. Getting singed has never been high on MY list of priorities, so I imagine that there are others who feel the same way. Not that I claim to be typical, mind you, but it's a decent theory, no?"

Safi was grinning from ear to ear now; this mare was giving as good as he was giving, a noval concept; Selene was the only other one who even tried to keep up with him, so he tended to get the feeling that he was an entertainment. Not that he wasn't, of course, but the principle was there. Now, where was he going with this line of thinking again? Oh yes.

"If it's the hypothermic one, I'd be more concerned. Being buried in the snow would certainly strike fear into MY heart; I already look frostbitten enough with that actually being the case. But speaking of hypothermia..." Golden eyes looked curiously at the mare, sparkling with mischief. "Are you ever going to get up? Or do you plan on falling over so much it would save time to stay down there? In which case..." And he flopped down into the snow himself. "It's rude to stand when your conversation partner is reclining. Remember that."

"I hadn't even thought of that!" Fortune admitted, "I imagine that I'd look quite funny with my hair half burned off. Of course, it'd likely be a wonderful amusement to YOU or anyone else. Perhaps that's why they're trying not to cause mass hysteria. Then again, snow things coming to life and trying to eat you or poke at you with sticky twiggy fingers would probably cause more alarm when they sprung out of nowhere without warning..."

And now the mare was rambling. She was good at that. However, Fortune had a feeling that Safi didn't quite care. Especially when he flopped down into the snow with her.

"I'd likely end up falling straight on my rear again, thank you, so I suppose having a frost bitten bottom is better than having a bruised body. Though, I'm not sure who else would agree with me." She shifted so she was upright, though still sitting in the snow. God, horses looked funny that way. Two-leggers had it easy, there.

"I certainly will." And with that, Fortune took one of her hooves and flung snow at him, "It's also rude not to be covered in snow when the other is. Misery loves company, so they say!"

"Nah, I'm not so crazy that I find humor in fire-damage. Besides, I've never liked short hair, so singed short hair would be twice as obnoxious, eh?" It made perfect sense. Besides, burned hair smelled horrid; he'd been around once when Cajji's dinner caught fire, and the smell had been enough to keep him FAR from the teepee for a long long time.

Still, he knew she wasn't being serious, especially not when she started chucking snow at him. "No, it's actually the height of good manners to be snow-free when your companion is snowy. Reminds them of what they have to look forward to, doncha know. But now, you're breaking that convention!" Laughing, he raised a wing to deflect the snow, then fling it back at the mare. "Besides, since when has misery been laughing? I think you're lying!"

A sad, serious look came over her face, "Ahh, poor me. I broke the rules! Whatever should I do? Perhaps you should put me in exile, especially for lying! Oh woe is..." Okay. She couldn't keep that face any longer and giggled yet again, "Me. Okay, okay, I give. What's your name, anyway?"

Fortune was definitely amused, and happy, and knowing the name of someone who was making her laugh so much was probably a GOOD idea.

Grinning, Safi reached out and lightly whapped the mare on the head with his wing, guessing that she wouldn't the type who'd get huffy about the lighthearted gesture. "Luckily for you all the good places to exile rule-breakers are full; unluckily for you, that means you have to put up with me hanging around for a while to make sure you don't repeat said rule breaking."

Giving her a solemn nod, Safi suddenly scooped up a bit of snow and flung it straight in her face with his other wing. "And my name's Safi; what's your handle, Whitewash?"

Indeed, she wasn't. In fact, Fortune smirked at the gesture and flopped over onto her back, looking at him upside down like, "Oh? Well, I suppose that's the worst punishment of a---"

And then, Fortune got a face full of snow. Oh. He was going to GET it now. Flopping around a few moments to get in the right position, Fortune flicked her tail and sent a stream of snow right back at him.

"Fortune. Because you're fortunate to have met me!"

Bah-dum-shhh. Baaad, Fortune.
