After a long morning by herself, Zhenga had taken flight to venture out into the world again. The bright sunlight of the afternoon sun warming her body as she glided across the sky. It seemed so much warmer up here in the air than it did on the ground. But she new eventually she would have to come down.
And so she dipped her head forward and glided down slowly. Making small twists and circles in the air. Her legs kicked quickly as she started to touch down. Black hooves crunching softly in the snow as she landed gracefully. Snow seemed to make it much more difficult to land as it tended to move about and make the ground shift a bit.
Folding her wings, she looked about. Silver eyes gazing at her surroundings. It always seemed to be quiet wherever she went. A quick flick of her tail stirred the snow behind her and she quickly turned on her hooves. A small patch of frozen grass had been revealed. Though it didn't look all that appetizing. A wrinkle of her black nose and a small sigh. Perhaps she would have to go find something else. Grass didn't seem to be all that good looking right now.

Sunlight and decent breezes made for good flying weather, and Zhenga was not the only one to have come to this conclusion.
Wings spread, neck arched, and body glittering like a red red rose in the sky, Guilian flew along with the carefree bent of one that had no set destination in mind or as much as a care in the world. And really, as far as Guilian was concerned, nothing in life was worth hurrying to.
Nothing other than ONE thing, that is.
Just as he was executing a lazy roll in the air, Guilian caught a glimpse of something bright on the white ground down below. Something pink, pink and black...and feminine.
A sensual smile curved the cardinal stallion's lips as he identified the pretty creature on the ground as a mare. As very charming looking mare, at least from up here...and hopefully in person as well. He'd just found something to stop for. Folding back his wings, Guilian dove down to the ground and alighted a few feet away from the mare just in time to catch the look of disgust on her face. "Something amiss, Chica?"

Her head spun around quickly as a voice had come out of no where. Had she really let her guard down that much? Though she eyed his wings for a brief moment. That might explain it. He could have just flown down without a sound, it was hard to hear the flapping of feathery wings.
As she eyed the stallion a bit more, she took in his vibrant red color, the black markings and oddly colored hind legs. He almost looked like a bird.
Zhenga smiled lightly and shook her head. "No. Not really. I was just frowning a bit because the grass here is so dead from the snow. But I guess that's to be expected."
She looked down at the small area her tail had cleared away before looking up at the red stallion again. He was kind of like her, except he was missing the horn and tail like hers. Though his mane and tail were quite curly. Curlier than she had ever seen before.

Guilian's eyes hadn't been idle; ever since he'd landed, he'd been taking the measure of the mare; and already he was VERY pleased. She was dainty, but not overly so, with neatly formed wings, slim legs, and very intense eyes. Not a passive mare, not if he was any judge of eyes...
Of course, what sort of passive mare would be sizing up a strange stallion like she was currently eyeballing him? Well, hopefully she was liking what she was seeing, because if she wanted to touch...that could certainly be arranged.
At her comment about the grass, Guilian cast his gaze downwards, scrutinzing the grass in question for a moment before nodding sagely. "Well, such is a common occurance, espcecially in winter. I'd suggest browsing by the river, if fresher greens are your preference. Dry grasses aren't tasty at all, to my way of thinking." As he spoke, the red stallion strolled about in a half-circle around the mare. "Are you familiar with the area? Or rather, do you know where the river is?"

Zhenga stretched out her wings half way then folded them quickly against her body. She eyed the stallion as he made his little half circle. Knowing all too well that he was probably sizing her up. But of course, she was sizing him up. So....
His voice broke through her thoughts and she shook her head. "No. I haven't been here long so I'm not sure where everything is quite yet." Her tail flicked back and forth a few times, brushing aside some snow behind her. "I'm not sure how well the grass near the river might be. Rivers tend to freeze near the surface during winter..."

"Near the surface, yes; but the grass right on the bank tends to stay fresher longer, so I'd recommend you take your investigations there, Chica. If it's a case of not knowing the way, though, I'd be happy to escort you. If you dinna mind having some company, of course."
Guilian was no innocent, after all, and he was more than aware that not only was she eyeing him up, she didn't care if he knew. He'd turned and seen her doing it, and she neither looked away or blushed, so why beat around the bush longer than necessary? "It would be my pleasure, of course."

"It might. Though if not then I guess I can look for some thing else were." Zhenga looked about for a moment, listening to the sounds all around her. Though it struck her that perhaps she wouldn't be able to listen for the sound of rushing water since it probably was iced over.
As he offered to escort her, she smiled lightly. "If you could? I'm sure I'd probably get lost...or some thing like that." She moved closer to him, but kept a bit of distance. With some Soquili you could never tell just what they might do if you got too close. Especially with stallions.

"Fair enough." Besides, perhaps this mare was more finicky in her choice of fare? Guilian wasn't that much of a picky eater himself; he'd always considered the primary purpose of eating was to get energy, not to necessarily dwell on the eating itself. Though sometimes certain food items, when combined with low light and soothing sounds could create a decent atmosphere of-
Ah, but now he was getting ahead of himself. So he simply chuckled, extending a wing to offer to the mare. "This way, Chica. We've got to head through that stand of trees over there, then just a little further. Not too complicated, all things considered...but enough so that one unfamiliar with the area could have issues."

Zhenga looked at his wing for a moment, a bit confused on what to do. Was she suppose to put her wing on his? Or walk under his wing? That sounded kind of silly really. She wondered if all stallions with wings did that around here.
Taking a small breath, she moved herself underneath his wing. If that was the wrong thing to do, well....she would have made a complete fool of herself in front of a total stranger. Nothing too big really, she thought. Perhaps if it was a mistake he'd get some amusement out of it. Though amusement at the expence of her humiliation wasn't some thing that sounded to lovely. "Lead on."

...Well, he hadn't expected that. Of course, it wasn't like there was a standard Soquili behavior that accompanied the wing gesture; he'd really only meant to offer it for her to politely nod at and turn down. Or something like that. But since she was being so accomadating...
Smiling, he lowered his wing so that it was lightly draped over the mare, then started off. "My pleasure, Chica; just make sure to duck your head when we get to the trees, least you catch your horn in the branches." He'd been told that that could really hurt, and being hurt HAD to kill the mood. "Oh, and just for information's sake, my name is Guilian, Chica; whether or not you wish to call me by that name is of course up to you."

Ok. So it seemed she hadn't made a fool of herself. That was a good thing. Zhenga didn't need to start an awkward situation anytime soon. Not when she had just arrived not too long ago.
Letting out a soft sigh of relief, she smiled and looked at him as he draped his wing over her. Her own wings tucked tightly against her body but their feathers still touched. "I'll keep that in mind." Getting her horn caught and having her head snapped back probably wouldn't have been the most pleasurable of things, nor the most graceful. She could just see it now. So she'd keep an eye out for any low hanging branches the best she could. "That's a nice name, Guilian. My name is Zhenga."

Zhenga...a nice sort of name; very exotic, given the first consonant combination, and very fitting to this exotically patterned mare. "Well, thank you, Chica...or rather, Zhenga." The cardinal stallion gave her a slightly sheepish smile, one that was mostly truthful. "Before we go any further, I apologize if you're the type who resents being called Chica, but it's gotten to be such a habit for me that I call all mares Chica, even my own sister!"
That habit wasn't always a good one, either; while there were some mares that were intrigued by the strange word, others found it offensive enough to flat-out abandon him. And the last thing he wanted was to have that happen with thing fascinating creature. "So I shall do my best, Zhenga, but if I slip up then you're perfectly free to let me know however you feel inclined...which is hopefully non-violent."
At that, he gave the mare a roguish wink, then ducked as they suddenly came up to the trees. "Whoop, time to duck, Chica!"

Chica? She wasn't exactly what that word meant really. "It wouldn't offend me as I don't understand what it means. Is it like a pet name for females or some thing like that?" Zhenga tilted her head as she looked at him. Her silver eyes full of curiosity. It was interesting how each Soquili seemed to have some sort of special quirk.
As the trees came upon them quickly, she ducked her head down slightly to avoid getting her horn hooked on any low hanging branches. The thought of pain and emberassment flooded back into her mind for a second.

Chuckling, Guilian ducked his head yet again to avoid the various branches; while he didn't have a horn, that didn't mean that they couldn't get snared in his hair or knock out his rose or do numerous other painful things. "Chica means girl, Chica, though I don't know in what tongue. Don't ask where I picked up the habit, though, since I've had it since I was but a wee foal. But you might consider it a pet name, I suppose."
Luckily for them both, the stand of trees wasn't that big and soon they had emerged on the other side, in full view of....a rolling hillside. But just past it was the river, albeit a frozen river. "Just a little bit of a jaunt now, Chica; over that hill, to be precise."

"Ah. I see. That's interesting. I wonder if there are other words like that." Her mind ran the thought over and over a few times as she grasped the concept. She had never heard of strange words that mean something. Odd.
As they left the trees, she smiled. The walk hadn't seemed to be too long and they were almost there. "I hope something is at least there. I wouldn't want having to come this way and having you escort me be a complete waste."
